    • The Pink Hat Racing Partnership's Nakila Sun (Torquator Tasso) backed up a wide-margin win at Windsor in August with an impressive front-running performance in Friday's seven-furlong British EBF £100,000 Final at York. The 5-1 chance broke sharply for an immediate lead and held sway throughout this colts and geldings contest. Surging clear approaching the quarter-mile pole, he was in splendid isolation entering the final furlong and kept on strongly under mild urging in the closing stages to easily outpower Sanbona Warrior (Ten Sovereigns) by 2 1/2 lengths. Nakila Sun is the latest of four foals and lone scorer produced by an unraced full-sister to G3 Zukunfts-Rennen victor Navarra King (Lope De Vega). His Group 3-winning second dam Navarra Queen (Singspiel), a full-sister to dual stakes-winning G3 Preis des Winterfavoriten runner-up Nordic Thunder, is out of a winning half-sister to G1 Prix Marcel Boussac third Tulipe Royale (Java Gold) and Listed-winning G3 Frankfurt Trophy third Nicaragua (Acatenango).   The post Torquator Tasso’s Nakila Sun Makes All In York’s British EBF Final appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. • A Wootton Bassett half-sister to the multiple top-level winners Gstaad and Vandeek features among 1,000 lots catalogued to sell at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, which takes place from Tuesday, November 24 to Saturday, November 28. Consigned by Maywood Stud, the Wootton Bassett filly features among eight foals from the final crop of the late Coolmore stallion set to be offered at the December Foal Sale, with 10 lots by Frankel, nine by Night Of Thunder and eight by Sea The Stars also set to go under the hammer. The ten lots by Frankel include Whitsbury Manor Stud's full-brother to the 2,000 Guineas winner Chaldean, out of the remarkable mare Suelita (Dutch Art), plus a full-sister to the GI Belmont Oaks heroine McKulick from Hazelwood Bloodstock. Meanwhile, the potential highlights among the foals by Night Of Thunder include a half-brother to the Grade I winner El Cordobes (Frankel) from Brian O'Rourke Bloodstock and Baroda Stud's half-sister to the Group 2 winner Trevaunance (Muhaarar). In total, the catalogue features full- and half-brothers and sisters to 155 Group and Listed winners, including 18 Group 1 winners. The siblings to top-level winners include a City Of Troy half-brother to Opera Ballo (Ghaiyyath), a Little Big Bear half-brother to Queen Anne Stakes winner Ten Bob Tony (Night Of Thunder) and a Too Darn Hot half-brother to recent Middle Park Stakes winner Orthodox (Havana Grey). There are also 88 foals out of Group- and Listed-winning mares catalogued, headlined by a Blue Point colt out of triple Group 1 winner Glass Slippers (Dream Ahead), as well as a New Bay filly out of G1 Fillies' Mile winner Lyric Of Light (Street Cry) and an Auguste Rodin colt out of dual Grade I winner Harmonious (Dynaformer). Europe's premier foal sale features 278 lots by the current top 25 active British and Irish based sires, including Blue Point, Camelot, Dark Angel, Frankel, Havana Grey, Kingman, Lope De Vega, Mehmas, New Bay, Night of Thunder, No Nay Never, Sea the Stars, Showcasing, Starspangledbanner, Study of Man, Too Darn Hot and Wootton Bassett. As ever, first-crop sires feature prominently with a total of 19 represented, including Classic and Group 1 winners Auguste Rodin, Big Evs, Bradsell, Charyn, City of Troy, Henry Longfellow, King of Steel, Look De Vega, Metropolitan, Mill Stream and Vandeek. There is also significant representation from stallions who have made a favourable impression with their first crop of runners in 2026, including Bayside Boy, Blackbeard, Minzaal and Persian Force. The largest consignment is the team of 58 foals coming from Tom Blain's Barton Stud, followed by the 54 lots from last year's leading consignor, The Castlebridge Consignment. Houghton Bloodstock have 38 lots and the National Stud are consigning 35 foals. Tuesday evening will feature an hour dedicated to a select group of National Hunt foals for the first time. They include a strong consignment from Cobhall Court Stud, including foals by Jack Hobbs and Nirvana Du Berlais. Tattersalls managing director Matthew Prior said, “The Tattersalls December Foal Sale is Europe's premier foal sale and continues to be an outstanding source of top-class international racehorses as well as rewarding those buying to resell. “Another exceptional year on the racecourse has been headed by Group 1 winners Gstaad, Orthodox, Portfolio Duration and Sir Delius, further underlining the quality of foals offered at Park Paddocks each year. “This year's catalogue is an outstanding one, bringing together an exceptional collection of the British and Irish foal crop, and we look forward to welcoming buyers from throughout Europe and further afield to Park Paddocks this November.” Foals will sell on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with a viewing day on Thursday, November 26. • Guy O'Callaghan's Grangemore Stud have a live Classic contender on their hands as Lola De Valence (Havana Grey) causes an upset in Newmarket's G3 Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes on Friday. Stepping up to this seven furlongs for the first time, the homebred who had been fourth last time in Fairyhouse's Blenheim Stakes needed all of the trip to get up under Saffie Osborne and deny Cheveley Park's Sweltering (Palace Pier) and Highclere Thoroughbred Racing's Topaz (Persian Force) by a neck and a head. “I was hoping that she would finish in the first four, as we do think a lot of this filly,” trainer Rod Millman said. “She won her maiden well, then we ran her in the Dick Poole but the ground was soft and she got stuck in it. She went to Fairyhouse, she missed the break and she had to come the whole way around the field and ended up being the fastest finisher in the race, so you could mark that run up.” “We are only a little yard, but if we get the right horse we can do it,” he added. “I'd say that would probably be her done for the season. She would get a penalty in the Bosra Sham back here, but we will probably come back for the 1,000 Guineas as she has just won a Group Three. We will see what Guy wants to do, but I imagine he will want to come back here.” Pedigree Notes Lola De Valence's dam Sacred Dance (Sea The Stars) is a half-sister to Awesometank (Intense Focus), who was successful in two Listed contests and was runner-up in the Beverly D. Stakes and three Group 3 prizes. A granddaughter of another dual Listed winner in Slip Dance (Celtic Swing), she is connected to Galileo's Irish St Leger Flag Of Honour and Danehill Dancer's classy trio of Group performers Air Chief Marshal, Misu Bond and Foxtrot Romeo. Also related to the Premio Parioli winner and Derby Italiano runner-up Grand Son Of Dark (Dark Angel), Sacred Dance is also responsible for that sire's useful handicapper Mr Writer and a filly foal by Dark Angel's son Charyn. • Daryz (Sea The Stars), the brilliant dual winner of the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, has been retired from racing following his historic second victory at ParisLongchamp and will embark on a stallion career in 2027, with stud arrangements to be announced in due course. Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, Daryz won his first four starts as a three-year-old, culminating with a first Group-race success in the G2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud. He later ended that campaign with his first victory in the Arc, beating leading three-year-old filly Minnie Hauk (Frankel) by a head in a thrilling finish. Owner-breeder Princess Zahra Aga Khan said of that triumph for the homebred colt, “As a breeder, and as part of a legacy that stretches back more than a century, winning this race is the pinnacle of what one can achieve.” Kept in training as a four-year-old, Daryz returned with consecutive Group 1 wins at ParisLongchamp in the Prix Ganay and Prix d'Ispahan, before travelling to Britain where he finished third behind Ombudsman (Night Of Thunder) in the G1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot. Having regained the winning thread in September's G2 Prix Foy at ParisLongchamp, by nearly two lengths from Bay City Roller (New Bay), the son of Sea The Stars then made history when defending his Arc title with another comprehensive defeat of the same horse. He became the first colt in almost half a century to achieve back-to-back Arc victories, joining an illustrious roll of honour that includes Ksar (1921 and 1922), Tantieme (1950 and 1951), Ribot (1955 and 1956) and Alleged (1977 and 1978). “To win this kind of race twice proves that Daryz is an exceptional horse,” said jockey Mickaël Barzalona, who partnered Daryz in each of his nine career wins. “It was a really tough race. It didn't go as we expected, but he showed his talent and that made the difference in the end. The horse deserved to win again and he's proved all season he is the best.” Graffard added, “He's a real champion and I was confident – I had to say it, even though you can look a fool. He was blossoming coming here and he got a beautiful ride again. There is pressure, you can't deny it, but I'm lucky to have a horse like this. He doesn't have anything else to prove – that was beautiful to watch.” Daryz is out of the Selkirk mare Daryakana, the winner of the G1 Hong Kong Vase, as well as the Prix de Royallieu when it was run as a Group 2. Her first foal was the G1 Prix Ganay-winning sire Dariyan, while she had four others stakes winners before Daryz, including Dubawi's GII Knickerbocker Stakes winner Devamani and Frankel's G2 Badener Stutenpreis winner Darkaniya. Her three-year-old colt Daryzan (Zarak) was a TDN Rising Star earlier this year. Daryz's second dam is the G1 Prix de Diane and G1 Prix Vermeille heroine Daryaba (Night Shift), who also produced the G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris winner Daramsar (Rainbow Quest). The family also includes Princess Zahra Aga Khan's triple Group 1-winning champion and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Darjina (Zamindar), the Prix du Jockey Club heroes Darsi (Polish Precedent) and Almanzor (Wootton Bassett) and Caballo De Mar (Phoenix Of Spain), who won the G1 Prix du Cadran for the second time on Arc weekend.
