  1. DACHY - over-raced middle stages. Broke leaving the final bend after contacting the sulky wheel of OHOKA AGENT. Driver I Goodman admitted a breach of careless driving with the Adjudicative Committee imposing a fine of $250. The stipes didn’t agree with your assessment (or mine) Just a case of a trainer who should stick to training and leave the driving up to the professionals, as this old mare still has a a win or 2 left in her. It was just so bad to watch I had to think he would be reprimanded. So sad to see Forbury go, my biggest ever win was a pick 6 there many many

  2. Are you referring to Westland? How much subsidisation have they had over the years compared to Ellerslie? The Hokitika Racecourse was a community asset, built on the back of hard work by the community. It was clear that if the asset was given back to racing it wasn't going do anything for the Hokitika community nor racing on the West Coast. Good luck to Auckland - I sincerely hope that the planets align for them to achieve what they are setting out to achieve. It isn't a forgone conclusion that they will achieve their objectives but if they do then for Auckland and Waikato racin

  4. I'm going to disagree with you on this legend. As a past owner of dogs we saved a dog who broke a hock. The 6k vet bill was never an issue. He lived his life with me at home and I can honestly say the dog never had a quality of life. He had a constant limp, an ouch everytime he got off the floor. Would I do it again? Simple answer NO. Was the dog happy? NO! And I would be one of the biggest animal lovers in the country.

  5. The only thing i would disagree with is nathan purdon. I never backed him,and thought he could stop a $1.20 shot from winning. In fact i started a thread that i thought it crazy that he could be driving a $1.30 shot before it ran,and sure enough the stinking hot favorite managed to get it all wrong. To be honest i miss him not driving for that reason.Theres no doubting he has done very well as a trainer and deserves credit for that, and it appears he recognises his horses are better with someone else driving.

  6. Yes ,great win by mark and nathan purdon.I personally thought krug ran up to his best. Not a bad effort by a three year old.Once amazing dream got the trail, those $21 odds were looking pretty amazing. king of swing looks a bit of a champion,so some good racing to come.

  7. The three MASTERS strike again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow wee , those 2 are the best drivers I ever seen ever. Luke will have to settle for 3rd best at the moment ! Blair still a bit to learn ??? lol, (just kidding) It's hard to beat the MASTERS !!!! and $5 of a more than $300 trifecta too, makes supporting the best pay off nicely!!!! congrats to the Amazing Dream and the wonderful MARK PURDON. what a driver.!

  10. Yes Goodman not that GOOD in the cart! However, Brad Williamson was halfcarting and Goodman thought Brad would continue outwards on the home bend but he went back in and Dachy touched Ohoka Agent! Dont believe everything you read nowadays about anything as a lot of it is incorrect!!!!!! You only need to read the crap in the papers! There was an article this morning about a 40 year old lady in the U.S. that supposedly died of the deadly Delta Variant of Covid 19 because she was scared to get vaccinated!!! They say that she may not have died if she had be vaccinated!!!

  11. Its interesting isn't it, obviously still a lot of water to go under the bridge before they get the track and stakes in place, but that hasn't stopped the usual lot celebrating it like its already happened. Personally I'd prefer to see a Strathyr where the horse population is , but I guess when it comes to NZracing anything is better than nothing.

  15. So many now days take it upon themselves to get offended on someone elses behalf. All that does is ultimately take away the seriousness of an actual or real racial slur,a bit like the girl that always called fire. I had that a couple of years ago when i was interviewing someone for a position in the company is was in at that time. He was a big man with a big stomach, and we had recently had comments from clients that another employee of similar build was unintentionally exposing parts of his bum when that employee bent over, with bending being necessary when doing part of one task. So i po

  17. Bring back Kevin, a very accurate racecaller. Another who was shafted, along with Jason Teaz and Brian Martin to name a few. The quality of racecalling has plummeted in NZ.

  18. When will trainers, jockeys, owners wake up, just don't do interviews. They obviously didn't take on board what happened to Mr Myers. On one hand you have trackside running around with there talking heads trying to interview participants, and then using their footage to have them fined. Seems clear to me, don't do interviews.

  19. Yes, never start counting the money until the race is over. I also learnt that the hard way. Earlier in the season I backed Ohoka Agent, I think it was at Winton. I got on at great odds, the horse had a dream run in the trail and charged to the lead up the the passing lane. He put two lengths on them, I thought I was in and started counting the hundreds I was about to collect. Suddenly, with about 75m to go, the horse goes into a mad gallop. Rich won second, broke the next! Never count the money until the race is over 😆😆

  20. Plus the "new" standardised fare has a higher operational cost model. It's lunacy. The news from Auckland isn't all roses either. It is only another black hole that will suck the life out of the provinces. Again Ellerslie is a dead end higher cost model proposition.

  21. Crosscodes, it was actually Brad Williamson’s fault more than Goodman’s! Brad was coming off the fence from the trail and Goodman came up the inside, but Williamson went back to the fence. Yes Goodman is not flash and should not drive like a lot of others. Yes Dachy wouldve been in the money without doubt but you are not the only one that took the risk! There is always tomorrow night as the fields are not too bad for punting if you can get on for enough! If the profit from the NZ TAB is ahead of budget, then why dont they be KIND and let punters on for what they want?

  22. What made it worse was the first two horses were always going to get him in to the straight and the sprint lane so either he's stupid or didn't do any form knowing the horses in front weren't going to stop in his face... Try backing Springbank Mason @17s and jumping up and down only for him to break just short of the post when in front... hate to say it but Phil W is going through a rough patch just like my punting.

  23. Wouldnt think the trainer wouldve put Kimberly on Raphoe?? No disrespect to you Kimberly, but seriously how on earth would you be able to see over Raphoe????? Biggest horse to ever race at Forbury!

  24. I’ve even done the research for you. It was Earthbound. 8th March 2018 Race 3. Beaten by Go Getta and Dexter Dunn, probably one of the best drivers in the world. I paid $7.40 a place. Shoulda gone each way mate

  26. True, they have about 2 meetins a week with 8 races average , so would be around 400 races this year , run in Tasmania. Interesting Ben Yoles brother Mark (a very good driver) only drives opposition horses currently !! lol. This happens a few times over the years, as they fight like cats and dogs now and then, Mark drives for a few weeks for Ben, then there's another fight , and off he goes to drive the opponents horses ...hahaha the cold getting to them maybe? must be a Tassie thing.? all the fighting. One night in Oct 2015, at the Tasmanian trotting awards dinner at Wrest Po

  27. Forbury was a very good course for punting at over the years, but unfortunately just is not profitable for harness racing nowadays. Alexandra Park will be the same but they wont be closing that track anytime soon, although it may well come to that? forbury racing leaves Auckland for dead and I certainly will miss it. The very few left training around Dunedin will probably give it away or relocate, as it will be too costly travelling all the time. You would Imagine Amber Hoffman to shift in the future! Forbury, you have been great for racing in NZ, R.I.P.
