Winter power payments just another handout from this Socialist bunch of losers has to come from somewhere!!!
You can try and be funny Ranga, but this so-called government are just so out of their depth it is NOT funny!

A local school near where I live has had a drop in its roll.

So three well built prefab classrooms with bathrooms were no longer needed.

Earlier this week a 20 tonne digger turned up on the back of a truck.

Demolished them - smashed the glass and aluminium windows and the digger then picked it all up and put in a truck and it went to the dump.

At least three people living in the same street would have purchased them and used them.

Hell they could have been used instead of $400 a night motels!

Was told today of taxpayers paying $5000 per week for 3 bedroom motel in Chch for family who has come back from overseas!

It is just an absolute farce that this lot has absolutely no control over and their socalled policies are going to make things even worse.

They have got no idea on anything to do with successful business and yet they reckon 55% of the NZ voters want her making the decisions for them!!!!

What do you make of the reported ashburton rural water testing showing the worrying levels of nitrates and e coli in your water. Anyone who lives down that way should be worried how that will impact their health in years to come. Its going to be a very serious issue for your region in the future. All directly linked to Dirty dairying.

I would be far more worried about the poisonous vaccine that people are allowing to be injected into their bodies for no reason.

Have heard today from 3 different people of very serious consequences of this action!
Everyones choice whether they take it or not, but seriously you really do  need to look into what is going on here!

The information is out there so do not blame anyone but yourself, as I guarantee that it is  going to come out that what is happening is a shocker!!!!!!!

They don't seem to be giving everyone the facts,so is natural to be suspicious.

I saw the australian health minister on tv today say you only have a 1 in a 100,000 chance of getting a blood clot from a vaccine shot ,and a one in a million chance of the vaccine causing blood clots that will kill you. Then it was reported in australia media that there had been 6 deaths and 6.1 million doses administered in australia as at last week. The latest death being a 44 year old. So using those figures, and assuming everyone has to get 2 doses of the vaccine, thats going to kill 2 in every million.  Obviously each vaccine is a bit different side effect wise, and some different age groups are more vunerable, but theirs no doubting there is a degree of risk. Just suppose you have to weigh up the benefits.

If the latest data from the UK is accurate then the benefits of the vaccines are declining rapidly with decreasing levels of efficacy.

Surely not the recent Gteenpeace "drop your water sample off to be tested" data?

No.Although no doubting greenpeace are all over this issue, and its a winner for them.

I have been referring to a story about details released from environment canterbury.Silly thing is ECAN is the organisation that drove the dairying water consents a few years back.. I remember an article from the days of allan hubbard where it said ECAN appointees were political and their campaigns funded by people like hubbard who was funding the dairy industry.

Youv'e said your from a dairy farming background.Well don't you agree that your industry has been overtaken by people and corporations driven by the thirst for wealth. Old school dairy farmers had different values, and were more caretakers of the land. Things have changed for the worse.

I'd say your thought patterns have been hijacked by the purveyors of bad science.

The modern dairy farmer of today is light years ahead of those of the past in terms of caring for the environment.

The recent Greenpeace work was a nonsense from a scientific integrity perspective.

Well i'm sure they are more aware of the impacts of what they do to the environment, and  some farm accordingly, but only because they are made to be. But no one can deny the scale of the industry is such that they are having a huge negative impact on the environment, and water is one of the most obvious examples.

And i don't agree with your assessment that modern dairy farmers care more. I say thats rubbish.

Answer this. Why has Canterbury's water quality gone backwards so much if the modern dairy farmers are so caring. Its all about the money.

Talk to the duckshooters, the fishermen, the people who test the water. If your saying the water is the same or got better then your the only one. I thought even the farmers don't argue that. Why is it some parts of nz with the dairying have such high e coli and bowel cancer rates?

So are you blaming bowel cancer rates on high E. coli?

If it is E. coli then how come it doesn't affect women at the same rate as men?

Greenpeace tested for nitrates but I thought the cancer causation link was nirites?

I first attended Lincoln College (University) 40 years ago.  The "Canterbury nitrite problem" existed then when the predominant agricultural activity was cropping and sheep farming.

I spent the next 15 years trout fishing all around Canterbury - the L2, the Cam, the Waimak, Hart's Creek, Lake Ellesmere.  I even studied the latter at Lincoln when doing a Masters paper in Resource Management.  Lake Ellesmere was the most polluted Lake in NZ then and still is.  There are a myriad of causes not just farming.

You can't just blame Dairy Farming for the problem which has existed for more than 40 years.  Doesn't stop Lake Ellesmere from being the largest trout fishery by biomass in the world.

Geez throw in climate change (drought) and the zillion shitting geese in the area.

The fact is that there are 141 people in hospital in NSW!

Every single one of them except one has been vaccinated and the one has had one jab of the poison!!!

This is official so do not believe that it is going to help you, quite the opposite.

The so-called vaccine is giving people the virus that is why the numbers are not dropping despite the lockdown!

You will see that “The Brodster” is on the money as normal.

The consequences of people wanting a FREE POISON injected into them is going to be dire and already is for many.

Do your homework first before being injected as you only have one life!

This is serious stuff!!

I know e coli and nitrates are two different things. I have not meant for my post to be taken as you seem to have. Maybe my wording wasn't that clear. There is an accepted link  between the dairy industry and e coli and nitrate levels. They link nitrates and bowel cancer.I recently lived in an area where they have just tested everyone over 60 for bowel cancer, and it is because of the high numbers getting bowel cancer, and they say a key factor in that is the nitrate level.

your response is a typical one from a dairy farmer. Deflect the blame, ignore the science.

Lake ellesmere?Have you studied the feeding patterns of the geese.I've got a neigbour who tells me he has to have his gas gun going all night to scare them off eating his grass. From what i've read they don't feed at 3 a.m. in the morning. He says they do. Hes a dairy farmer. I am currently waiting the results of my water testing.

Going be interesting who they blame once all these waterways have fences on them. According to the grand ideas from Ardern and her mates in The Greens. Who going get the blame then? suppose need someone else  to run identity politics against.

Yes they are, but it is such a mess over there now!

The media is absolutely talking shite and people are so over the BS!

They are putting people in managed isolation for absolutely no reason.

The vaccine is now the major problem and not the solution and they will find this out, as more people get hospitalised thru it!

They are worried that some people are seeing the light and do not want to be controlled by power crazy nutters!

There hasnt been anyone in Australasia that has contracted the virus from being outdoors.

Time everyone woke up to what they are up to, peoples mental health, businesses and marriage splitups are a far bigger worry than a few geriatrics passing away, which they do every day anyway!

Blatant BS that is out of control!

Yes dairy cows can excrete E. coli just as any mammal can.  Nitrate levels can increase in water from uncontrolled dairy farm runoff but there are more than one source are more likely to occur from high country runoff.  However why do you link E. coli, nitrate levels and bowel cancer?

That is an hypothesis which hasn't been proven.  There are numerous possible causes of  bowel cancer.

Who are THEY that did the testing?  Where is the research paper?  Were they all using bore water, rain water or reticulated supply?  Did you know rainwater has nitrates in it?

With regard to the high numbers getting bowel cancer this has been a hidden epidemic in NZ for decades and not just confined to rural areas but the big cities as well.  Men are more likely to get bowel cancer than women - do they drink more bore water?  We've seen cancer screening programmes for breast and cervical cancer for decades and I was involved in an attempt to set up a programme for proactive bowel cancer screening when working at the Ministry of Health.  That was ditched and money directed back to existing programmes.  The statistics were horrendous and those affected were dominated by men.

You point the finger at the dairy industry yet the nitrate/nitrite issue in underground aquifers has been an issue for decades well before dairy farming became more prevalent.  Why?  Intensive cropping can be a source of high nitrates PLUS nitrate levels in underground water will spike after periods of drought (last summer?) followed by intense rain.  The nitrates are more likely to come from cropping or dry stock ground than dairy pasture.  Dairy pasture is predominantly on heavier soils with more organic matter which traps nitrates unlike the stonier lighter soils that dominate grain cropping.

I'm not deflecting the blame nor ignoring the science.  I'm actually recognising decades of evidence based research done in the Canterbury region.  Easy to point the finger at the "wealthy big dairy farmer"!

I've attached a paper from 1990 that shows high levels of nitrates leaching into ground aquifers from arable farming.

Be afraid of those that fly the banner of "follow the science" - they don't mean evidence based science leading to a consensus and the truth but "follow the science" that supports their agenda.  Can't you see the irony in that the grain loving part of the population may actually be more responsible than the dairy and meat lovers?

all interesting points and of course there's merit in what you say. But your lack of acknowledgment of the degree of the dairy industries contribution to the problems being discussed shows a very bias point of view in my opinion.

The bowel screening kits have been sent by the ministry of health for people aged 60-74 in the region with the highest bowel cancer rate in nz.(The one with so much dairying).

I can just see you now, looking out over the paddocks as the effluent is discharged, observing the fertiliser truck spreading its load, you thinking what a wonderful rain we've had,ah, the grass will grow and the nitrates will leak great this year. All while you drink a glass water. For a brief moment, you stop, look at the glass and think to yourself, the best thing i ever did was put in that $7000 filter system. Your not ignorant you see, your aware of how it would effect your health without your filter system. Lifes good you think. I think i might put the beige pants on,take the land cruiser into town and buy myself another tractor.

No.Canterbury district. I'm no expert, but i have just re read an article earlier this year quoting a study overseen by jayne richards done by victoria and otago universites, concluded 4 decades of intensive farming,in particular the high stocking rates of dairy farming, had exposed between 500,000 to 800,000 new zealanders to water with nitrates at a level that would lead to greater risk of bowel cancer. The study found the drinking water was as much a factor as lack of physical exercise, smoking ,consumption of processed meats, and behind just obesity and heavy drinking as factors. It said the problem was getting worse.
