Sunday, ParisLongchamp, France, post time: 14:33, PRIX DU CONSEIL DE PARIS-G2, €119,000, 3yo/up, 11fT Field: Casapueblo (Ire) (Le Havre {Ire}), Dubai Honour (Ire) (Pride Of Dubai {Aus}), Junko (GB) (Intello {Ger}), Path Of Soldier {Ger}) Soldier Hollow {GB}), Convergent (Ire) (Fascinating Rock {Ire}), Yellow Jersey (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}), Bay City Roller (Ire) (New Bay {GB}). TDN Analysis: Newtown Anner's G1 Deutsches Derby runner-up Convergent made a black-type breakthrough in last month's G3 Kilternan and is primed for another step up the ladder here. Last term's G2 Champagne victor Bay City Roller has run second in three Group 2 contests this year, while Qatar Racing's Listed Prix Frederic de Lagrange victor Yellow Jersey has not been seen since registering a three-length tally in August's Arqana Series des Trois Ans at Deauville. Deutsches Derby fourth Path Of Soldier completes the sophomore band. The older brigade provides a formidable barrier with multiple Group 1 winners Dubai Honour and Junko joined by Godolphin's G2 Grand Prix de Deauville runner-up Casapueblo. [Sean Cronin]. Sunday, Baden-Baden, Germany, post time: 12:45, CARLA KELLNER ZUKUNFTSRENNEN – PREIS DER WINTERKONIGIN-G3, €155,000, 2yo, f, 8fT Field: Alsterperle (Ger) (Reliable Man {GB}), Deia's Delight (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Fantastic Fox (Ger) (Japan {GB}), Isfana (Ger) (Isfahan {Ger}), Love My Life (Fr) (Galiway {GB}), Madame Magic (Fr) (Saxon Warrior {Jpn}), Sea The Storm (Fr) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), Valzeina (Swi) (Persian King {Ire}). TDN Analysis: Alsterperle was denied in the dying strides of last month's Listed Winterkonigin Trial at Cologne and bids to shed maiden status at the fifth attempt. She has the measure of Madame Magic, who ran fourth in that 7 1/2-furlong contest, and her chief threat is the David Menuisier-trained Sea The Storm, who delivered an impressive win in a one-mile Sandown maiden five weeks ago. Deia's Delight, like Alsterperle, finished a neck second to Believe In Me in her latest start and is another maiden seeking glory. Henk Grewe entry Valzeina, one of just two with winning form, returns off a half-length tally, finishing ahead of Isfana and Fantastic Fox, over seven furlongs at Dortmund last month, while the once-raced maiden Love My Life is no forlorn hope and completes the line-up. [Sean Cronin]. Sunday, Baden-Baden, Germany, post time: 14:05, B.A.U. HERBST TROPHY-G3, €55,000, 3yo/up, 12fT Field: Lordano (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}), Padre Palou (Ger) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}), Rashford (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}), Nastaria (GB) (Outstrip {GB}), Lion's Head (Ger) (Protectionist {Ger}), Tanami Starlet (GB) (Best Solution {Ire}), Delgardo (Ger) (Best Solution {Ire}), Name Lord (Ger) (Lord Of England {Ger}). TDN Analysis: Listed Dusseldorf Derby Trial victor Delgardo is presented with the chance of a first pattern-race win coming back off a second in this month's G3 Preis der Deutschen Einheit. He concedes two pounds for a one-length defeat of Name Lord in that Derby Trial, but the latter reversed form when seventh in July's G1 Deutsches Derby and makes his first appearance since. The older brigade is headed by last year's second and third, Tanami Starlet and Lion's Head, while the usual suspects Lordano, Padre Palou, Rashford and Nastaria merit respect. [Sean Cronin]. Sunday, ParisLongchamp, France, post time: 16:25, PRIX DE SAINT-CYR-Listed, €50,300, 3yo, f, 7fT Field: Medusa Merger (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}), Ashikidah (Fr) (Belardo {Ire}), Narkala (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), Naina (GB) (Expert Eye {GB}), Miracle Beauty (Ire) (Sioux Nation), Morgan Bay (Ire) (Kodi Bear {Ire}), Blazing Spirit (Fr) (Ghaiyyath {Ire}), Alsaba (Ire) (Pinatubo {Ire}), Verse Of Love (GB) (Siyouni {Fr}), Santa Savana (GB) (Havana Grey {GB}), Scattering Light (Ire) (Blue Point {Ire}), Paris Babe (Fr) (Mehmas {Ire}), Celestial Orbit (GB) (No Nay Never), Sonadoor (Ire) (Shaman {Ire}), Beaujolais Nouveau (GB) (Twilight Son {GB}), Alreyyah (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}), Secret Wood (Fr) (Birchwood {Ire}), Dash Of Azure (GB) (Blue Point {Ire}). TDN Analysis: With a mammoth field thundering towards the first turn on this storied downhill chute, this will not be for the faint of heart. The dual-winning Narkala, Listed Prix Amandine victrix Medusa Merger and Listed Fillies Cup third Santa Savana head a solid home defence. Last term's Listed Star Stakes victrix Celestial Orbit and Listed October Stakes second Dash Of Azzure are best of the Brits and favourably housed towards the far-side rail, while Joseph O'Brien ships in Fairyhouse handicap winner Miracle Beauty. Having been on the outskirts of black-type success, Morgan Bay, Scattering Light, Secret Wood and Alsaba merit respect. Maranoa Charlie annexed this month's G1 Prix de la Foret over course and distance from stall 14 in a field of 16. [Sean Cronin]. Monday, Deauville, France, post time: 15:40, DARLEY PRIX DES RESERVOIRS-G3, €73,200, 2yo, f, 8fT Field: Kiss Melody (Ire) (Almanzor {Fr}), Miuccia (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), Society Princesse (Fr) (Persian King {Ire}), Rhiyanna (Fr) (Elarqam {GB}), Shahbanu (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}), Waiting For You (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}), Lyrics Of Life (GB) (Pinatubo {Ire}). TDN Analysis: This contest was won last term by subsequent G1 Prix de Diane heroine Gezora and the dual stakes-placed Waiting For You and undefeated dual winner Shahbanu the are leading lights in this year's renewal. Kiss Melody, Miuccua and Rhiyanna all boast winning form, while the Brian Meehan-trained three-race maiden Lyrics Of Life is a notable entry from Britain. Society Princesse has a length to find with Kiss Melody and completes the line-up. [Sean Cronin]. Monday, Deauville, France, post time: 14:30, CRITERIUM DE VITESSE-Listed, €54,900, 2yo, 5 1/2fT Field: Go Ken Go (Fr) (Goken {Fr}), Kimi Rey (GB) (Kingman {GB}), Solana Rose (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}), Igetakickoutofyou (Ire) (Bungle Inthejungle {GB}), Hold My Hand (Fr) (Threat {Ire}), Pearl Fortune (Ire) (Blue Point {Ire}), Jeudixx (Fr) (Hello Youmzain {Fr}), Ceramic (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), Sonatine (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}). TDN Analysis: Kimi Rey had Jeudixx and Go Ken Go in arrears when notching a three-length triumph in July's Listed Prix Yacowlef over the straight five here and holds the key in this first start since. Her main threats are G2 Prix du Calvados fourth and G3 Prix Eclipse runner-up Ceramic and Listed Prix des Reves d'Or second Hold My Hand. David O'Meara trainee Solana Rose, last seen running fifth in Ayr's G3 Firth of Clyde, holds solid claims, as does fellow British raider Pearl Fortune, who finished a close-up fourth in last month's Listed Harry Rosebery at the same venue. [Sean Cronin]. Monday, Deauville, France, post time: 16:50, PRIX VULCAIN-Listed, €50,300, 3yo, 12 1/2fT Field: Allure (Fr) (Persian King {Ire}), Aegean Prince (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), Military Air (GB) (Frankel {GB}), Viking Invasion (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}), Master Cath (Fr) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}), Waldnebel (Ger) (Reliable Man {GB}), Ankara (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), Karla Jet (GB) (Le Havre {Ire}), Walleah (Fr) (Doctor Dino {Fr}), Three Pearls (Fr) (Intello {Ger}). TDN Analysis: With black-type opportunities dwindling as the season drifts towards the winter recess, Godolphin's Aegean Prince heads to France coming back off an impressive eight-length tally at Ascot earlier in the month, his first appearance since winning on the Kempton Polytrack last December. Threats include Chevotel Racing's unbeaten winner-of-two Karla Jet and the consistent G1 Deutsches Derby eighth Waldnebel, who has registered two runner-up finishes in three Listed outings since that Hamburg Classic. Allure, Military Air and Three Pearls have all placed at stakes level and should not be discounted. [Sean Cronin]. Click here for the complete fields. 2. Longshot Kappa Kappa (Omaha Beach–Pharoah's Princess, by Pioneerof the Nile) fired then fired again to take the GII Lexus Raven Run Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday. Drawing in off the AE list, the 3-year-old filly was in the mix from the bell, but it was in the lane that she showed her ability. Battling Vodka With a Twist (Thousand Words), the pair slugged it out all the way to the wire with Kappa Kappa winning the bob. The final running time was 1:23.90. Lifetime Record: 4-3-1-0. 5. The BBAG October Sale concluded in Germany on Saturday, with lot 294, a Japan colt already named Pace, topping the session when going the way of owner Ahmad Al Shaikh for €43,000. Consigned by Gestut Etzean, Pace is out of the Maxios mare Pray, who is the dam of two winners from as many runners to date. Pray, in turn, is out of the Listed winner and multiple Group-placed Paraisa (Red Ransom), a half-sister to the G1 Premio Roma scorer Potemkin (New Approach) and G2 Oettingen Rennen hero Penalty (Frankel). Pace was one of two purchases at the sale for Al Shaikh, who has enjoyed success as an owner in Britain with the likes of Dubai Mile, Hoo Ya Mal and Khalifa Sat. The pick of the other yearlings offered on Saturday was lot 180, an Isfahan colt already named Nearest Fan from the Gestut Wittekindshof draft. Bought by Laetitia Domenig for €40,000, he is out of a winning half-sister to the G3 Deutsches St Leger heroine Near England (Lord Of England). Of the 287 lots offered, 203 sold (71%) for an aggregate sum of €2,164,500 (-4%). The average was €10,663 (-2%) and the median was €10,716 (-2%). 6. Full Serrano (Arg) (Full Mast), working for an expected title defense in the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, GI Pennsylvania Derby winner Baeza (McKinzie), unbeaten 2-year-old 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' Brant (Gun Runner) and potential Breeders' Cup favorites Seismic Beauty (Uncle Mo) and Ag Bullet (Twirling Candy) were among the Breeders' Cup hopefuls on the worktab Saturday at Santa Anita. Full Serrano worked for the second time since a runner-up effort in the GI Goodwood S. going 1 1/8 miles Sept. 27 at Santa Anita. He was timed for five furlongs in :59.40 (2/48). “He's right where we want him two weeks out,” trainer John Sadler said. “We were just looking to keep him crisp. He's already ready. Just trying to keep him nice and sharp.” The GI Breeders' Cup Classic-bound Baeza worked six furlongs in 1:14.20 (5/6) with jockey Hector Berrios aboard. Brant (Juvenile), winner of the GI Del Mar Futurity, worked six furlongs in 1:11.80 (2/6) for trainer Bob Baffert as did stablemates Litmus Test (Nyquist) (Juvenile) (1:12.40) and Imagination (Into Mischief) (Sprint) (1:11.60). Seismic Beauty (Distaff) (:59.60), a sharp winner of the GI Clement L. Hirsch S., and Splendora (Audible) (Filly & Mare Sprint) (:58.20) each worked five furlongs for Baffert. Ag Bullet (Turf Sprint) worked five furlongs on the synthetic training track in :59.60 for trainer Richard Baltas. Trainer Richard Mandella worked both 'Rising Star' Tamara (Bolt d'Oro) and Kopion (Omaha Beach). Tamara, targeting the Filly & Mare Sprint, worked five furlongs in 1:01 (19/48). Kopion, who is a candidate for either the seven-furlong Filly & Mare Sprint or six-furlong Sprint against males, worked six furlongs in 1:12 (3/6). 8. Zedan Racing's Barnes (c, 3, Into Mischief–All American Dream, by American Pharoah), a $3.2-million Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling, has always been heavy on promise, but perhaps lighter than hoped on actual visits to the winner's circle. That changed Saturday in Keeneland's GIII Perryville Stakes. The Bob Baffert trainee and 8-5 pick shadowed the :21.69 and :44.18 pace set by recent Churchill allowance winner Taylor's Version (Into Mischief), blew by mid-turn, and poured it on down the lane to win by open daylight. GI H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes second Captain Cook (Practical Joke), a 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' who finished 1 1/2 lengths in front of Barnes in that race, was second, while this spring's GIII Tampa Derby winner Owen Almighty (Speightstown) finished third. Last seen fourth in the GII Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Sept. 20, Barnes won the GII San Vicente Stakes in January and was runner-up to Journalism (Curlin) in the GII San Felipe Stakes in March. He got the Perryville's seven furlongs in 1:23.45. Sales History: $3,200,000 Ylg '23 FTSAUG. O-Zedan Racing Stables; B-Jeff Drown and Don Rachel LLC (Ky.); T-Bob Baffert; J-Jose Ortiz. 9. After taking the GIII Winter Memories Stakes over the local course Sept. 20, Ready for Candy (Twirling Candy–Enoree, by More Than Ready) took to the turf once more and nabbed the GII Sands Point Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday. Bet down to even-money here, the filly relaxed in the third position as the field was led into the first turn by Paradise City (McKinzie). Given her cue entering the lane, the 3-year-old tipped off the rail, flashed a strong turn of foot and got the money ahead of Fast Market (Volatile). The final running time was 1:49.44. 11. Bentornato (Valiant Minister), runner-up in last year's GI Breeders' Cup Sprint, breezed five furlongs in company in a bullet 1:00 (1/24) Saturday morning at Keeneland in preparation for a return trip to Del Mar for this year's race on Nov. 1. He had jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard for the work with Araucano (McKinzie), a 3-year-old maiden. Bentornato finished three lengths clear of his workmate at the wire and lengthened the advantage on the gallop out. “He will have his final work here next week,” trainer Jose D'Angelo said of Bentornato, who posted his third work since winning the Louisville Thoroughbred Society at Churchill Downs Sept. 13 that served as his 2025 debut. On Oct. 29, a 25% ownership interest in Bentornato will be offered at the Keeneland Championship Sale in the Del Mar Paddock. 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' Percy's Bar (Upstart), who looms as one of the main contenders for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar Oct. 31, on Saturday worked a half-mile in company in :48.20 (16/119) with jockey Luan Machado aboard. She was disqualified from first and placed second for causing interference in the GI Darley Alcibiades S. at Keeneland Oct. 3. “I loved it for her first and only work for the Breeders' Cup,” trainer Ben Colebrook said. “She acted like she wanted to do something this morning. Luan never asked her. She cruised up to her workmate and got to do what we set out to do.” Other Breeders' Cup-bound workers at Keeneland include: Praying (Vekoma) (F/M Sprint) (3F, :38.40, 10/21) Vahva (Gun Runner) (F/M Sprint) (4f, :48.00, 9/119) Schwarzenegger (Not This Time) (Juvenile Turf Sprint) (4fT, :49.60, 1/7) Outfielder (Speightstown) (Juvenile Turf Sprint) (4fT, :50.20, 3/7) The post Bentornato Fires Bullet for Breeders’ Cup Sprint appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. 12. Oisin Murphy, Joe Leavy and Godolphin were crowned champions at Ascot as the British Flat season concluded with QIPCO British Champions Day. Murphy secured the champion jockey title for a fifth time, having previously taken the accolade in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2024. The Irishman ended the championship with 143 winners, with Billy Loughnane next best on 108. Highlights for Murphy included a Group 1 double at York's Ebor Festival courtesy of Asfoora in the Nunthorpe Stakes and Never So Brave in the City Of York Stakes. Murphy said, “You always dream about winning it once and it is great to pick it up again today. William Buick and I travel a lot together and he was revving me up in the springtime on the way to Dubai, Saudi and Qatar, saying, 'You have to try', and that probably got inside my head. “I had a good start in May, winning the Lockinge on Lead Artist, and that gave me momentum. It has been great to carry that through the season. In the last six weeks, I have had three- and four-timers, which has meant the last fortnight has been pretty relaxed as I had a decent lead over Billy Loughnane, who has been riding terrifically well. “The weighing room is very competitive. There are some very good riders in the British weighing room, Group 1-winning riders with loads of experience and plenty of young talent as well. This is a difficult competition to win and I am pleased to get it over the line.” Joe Leavy takes the champion apprentice title, having filled the runner-up position in 2024, when he lost out by two winners to Sean Dylan Bowen. Leavy racked up 41 victories during this season's championship, four more than his closest challenger, Jack Doughty. The 20-year-old said, “It was heartbreaking last year, especially given the season I had because it was a fantastic season. In August, I was 15 behind and then to go to Catterick on the final day with one between us and get beat was heartbreaking but a great experience at the same time. I don't think I would be in this position now without the experience of last year. “My dad always said the cream rises to the top and, if you keep working, you should get opportunities, but you have to take them when they come. I had a fall when I was 16, which left me in a coma. I had a fractured skull, a bleed on the brain and a broken collarbone. The head injury took a long time to heal and it definitely made you value things a lot more. I was young and it only made me hungrier to get back.” Godolphin continued its domination of the champion owner title, taking the accolade for a 17th time following a campaign that has yielded more than £6 million in prize-money. Hugh Anderson, managing director at Godolphin (UK and Dubai), said, “Everyone at Godolphin is extremely proud to receive the UK champion owner trophy again. It has been a remarkable season right from the start, with Ruling Court and Desert Flower completing a Guineas double as part of an unprecedented weekend that saw four Classic winners for Godolphin here and in the United States. “Royal Ascot proved another high point, and it was wonderful to see several of our top horses produce their best at the sport's jewel in the crown. Ombudsman was sensational in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes, while Trawlerman put up a remarkable display when breaking the track record in the Gold Cup. It was particularly pleasing to see one of our all-time greats, Rebel's Romance, win at the meeting. “We have enjoyed a huge amount of success throughout the season and all of our trainers have done an outstanding job in conditioning and preparing our runners. I hope we have much to look forward to next year, with Wise Approach and Distant Storm among a strong group of two-year-olds heading into the winter. “Thank you to every single Godolphin employee, all of whom have contributed to this achievement. Our greatest thanks must go to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, who continues to inspire us all with his passion for the sport.” The post Title Number Five for Oisin Murphy as Champions Crowned at Ascot appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. 13. High-class fillies Nyra, Egina and Daylight headline the catalogue for the 2025 edition of the Arqana Vente d'Elevage, which takes place from December 6-9. The first part of the catalogue features 248 mares, fillies and foals, with Nyra set to be one of the early highlights when she is offered as lot 187. Trained by Waldemar Hickst, the daughter of Isfahan gained her biggest success to date in July's G3 Hamburger Stutenpreis, before also finishing a close-up third in the G1 Preis der Diana. She is out of a half-sister to the multiple Group 1-winning sire Novellist (Monsun) and Irish Oaks heroine Magical Lagoon (Galileo). Last seen filling the runner-up spot in the G2 T von Zastrow Stutenpreis, Nyra was beaten just a neck on that occasion by the four-year-old Egina, who will be offered during the same session as lot 202. Previously this season, the daughter of Soldier Hollow had won a pair of Listed races and finished third in the G3 Grosser Preis von Lotto Hamburg. She hails from the family of the Classic winner Enora (Noverre). Meanwhile, Daylight will go through the ring as lot 206, having finished second on her most recent outing in the G3 Prix de Meautry. The daughter of Earthlight and Listed scorer Latita (Silver Frost) notably finished third in the G1 Prix Morny and second in the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes as a two-year-old, as well as winning the G3 Prix de Cabourg. In total, 1002 lots have been catalogued, including 462 mares, 219 fillies in and out of training, 301 foals and five stallions. Previous graduates of the Vente d'Elevage include the dams of this year's Group 1 winners Big Mojo (Mohaather), Dynamic Pricing (Night Of Thunder), Gewan (Night Of Thunder), Leffard (Le Havre), Royal Patronage (Wootton Bassett), Via Sistina (Fastnet Rock), Woodshauna (Wooded) and Zavateri (Without Parole). Meanwhile, Excellent Truth was bought by Stamford Bloodstock and Meridian Bloodstock for €1,600,000 in 2024, before going on to win July's GI Diana Stakes for Resolute Racing in America. Other potential highlights this year include the Listed-placed Jokla (Zarak) (lot 188), who is from the family of the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Solemia (Poliglote); G3 Prix Miesque runner-up Lhakpa (Siyouni) (lot 189), a half-sister to the G2 Challenge Stakes winner Beauvatier (Lope De Vega); the Listed-placed Imparable (lot 192), a daughter of Lope De Vega and the dual Group 2 scorer Impassable (Invincible Spirit); and the Listed winners Gala Real (Wootton Bassett) (lot 199) and Safia (Sottsass) (lot 212). 14. Speed star Ka Ying Rising (Shamexpress) broke ground as the first international horse to win the G1 The Everest Saturday at Royal Randwick, and the connections have already gone on record in saying that they'd like to bring him back for a defense of his crown next year. Now with 15 wins from 17 starts, and unbeaten in his last 14 jumps, Ka Ying Rising put doubts on his ability to rest when comfortably cruising home in the world's richest turf race despite not being at his personal best. Immediately after the race, Leung Shek Kong, representing the Ka Ying Syndicate, indicated he wanted their horse to return to Australia next season. “We want to come back next year,” Leung said. “We have all enjoyed our time in Sydney and we want to thank the ATC (Australian Turf Club) and TAB (Totalisator Agency Board). I want to thank David Hayes and his team and The Hong Kong Jockey Club.” As for trainer and rider, they have proclaimed the result as one of the highlights of their careers, as well as their charge's, who took everything in stride. “I would say probably the single biggest moment [of his career] just because of the stature the race has got now and everything that came with it,” said winning rider Zac Purton. “…He got a little edgy in the gates but to his credit, he still began well and we had a beautiful run in the race.” Despite the raucous antics of the roughly 50,000-strong crowd pre-race, Purton was thrilled everything went smoothly in the end. “The crowd did a good job of buzzing him up before the race. I didn't expect them to boo him and be as vocal as they were when he came out onto the track and it was all the way down until he got to the end of the crowd. He handled it really well and I was impressed with that and I just love him–he's such a nice horse to ride.” Ka Ying Rising is scheduled to fly out of Sydney early next week to return to his home base and begin preparations for the G1 Hong Kong Sprint. The race is part of the Longines Hong Kong International Races Dec. 14 at Sha Tin. GSP Howling Time (Not This Time–Werewolf, by Arch) will stand as a new sire for 2026 at the Midwest Vet Hospital in Trafalgar, Indiana, according to Tommy Wente on Saturday who purchased the 6-year-old for an undisclosed amount in a deal brokered by Lisa Groothedde. Wente said that a stud fee will be determined at a later date. Initially purchased during Keeneland September by Albaugh Family Stables for $200,000, as a juvenile Howling Time won at first asking under the Twin Spires then took home the Street Sense Stakes over the same course that fall. The following June the Dale Romans trainee finished as the runner-up to current sire Cyberknife (Gun Runner) in the GIII Matt Winn Stakes at Churchill Downs. Howling Time's dam is also responsible for current 4-year-old gelding Air Recruit (Air Force Blue)–a multiple stakes winner–and she handed the newly-minted Indiana stallion a full-sister named Bisclavret, who is a 2-year-old in-training with George Weaver. “I'm glad to bring a classy stallion like this to Indiana,” said Tommy Wente. “I know the breeders will love him when they see him. He has that X factor for me and he was just a no-brainer when I saw him.” To arrange a viewing, contact tommywente@yahoo.com or call (812) 202-0167. 17. Superstar sprinter Ka Ying Rising (Shamexpress) wasn't the only one to break new ground at Royal Randwick Saturday as The Everest itself set a new record for World Pool turnover on a single race and eclipsed the previous all-time high by over HK$16-million, the organization announced via press release. The Everest attracted HK$83,024,693 (£8-million/AU$16.4-million) in wagering, shattering the prior mark of HK$66,197,958 set in 2023 for the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot. Ka Ying Rising became the first international winner of the G1 The Everest on a blockbuster day of racing in Australia. “The World Pool turnover record has been absolutely smashed by Ka Ying Rising's incredible performance in The Everest,” said Sam Nati, head of commingling at the Hong Kong Jockey Club. “When Wellington travelled to Royal Ascot in 2023, it resulted in a turnover record of over HK$66 million, while Romantic Warrior's presence in The Saudi Cup this year saw betting on that race shoot into the all-time top five, but today has blown those out of the water.” “Ka Ying Rising taking on the Australian sprinters, who are notorious for being some of the world's best, felt like a world title boxing fight and it's clearly captured the attention of racing fans around the globe. It's a special moment for Hong Kong and a landmark for World Pool.” More information and other key statistics about the World Pool races may be found here. 18. The reigning GI Breeders' Cup Classic winner and 'TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard' Sierra Leone (Gun Runner) breezed a half-mile in :49.08 (10/44) on Saturday over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga in preparation for his title defense in the $7-million centerpiece on Nov. 1 at Del Mar. Trained by Chad Brown, the dark bay worked to the inside of the maiden Duration (Mitole) after the first renovation break on the track rated fast. “He worked super,” said Brown. “He has been very consistent with the way he's been working. He's been galloping out a strong three-quarters every week and I love the way he is moving.” Sierra Leone put his neck in front of his workmate at the wire and galloped out several lengths in front down the backside. “He's been doing that every week actually: big, strong gallop-outs starting at the half-mile,” Brown said. “That is what I like for him and he is doing it as good as a horse could do it.” The Brown-trained 'Rising Star' Chancer McPatrick (McKinzie) also worked over the Oklahoma dirt training track, covering a solo half-mile in :49.34 (14/44) following the second renovation break as he prepares for the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Del Mar. 21. While Team Ballydoyle missed out on the Group 1s at Ascot, Saturday's two-year-old card at Leopardstown well and truly belonged to it with Dorset (Wootton Bassett) making all in the G3 Killavullan Stakes to make it five wins from five races. Last seen winning the Goffs Million, the TDN Rising Star, presented by Hagyard was also completing a treble on the day for Jack Cleary as he registered a half-length success from stablemate Daytona (Wootton Bassett) as the 13-8 second favourite. O'Brien failed to complete the clean sweep in the following maiden, but did collect the nursery as the final race on the card with River Ara under Cleary. The 22-year-old was completing a four-timer in the process on his birthday. Five races, FIVE winners for Aidan O'Brien at @LeopardstownRC as Dorset lands the Group Three Killavullan Stakes! It's also a treble for Birthday boy Jack Cleary (22 today!) 22. by Tom Baddock Hong Kong champion Ka Ying Rising (NZ) (Shamexpress {NZ}) delivered on the weight of expectation at Randwick on Saturday, producing a high-pressure, high-class performance to claim the AU$20 million G1 TAB Everest and in doing so, confirmed his status as the world's best sprinter. Ridden by Zac Purton, Ka Ying Rising jumped cleanly from barrier seven and settled in his trademark on-speed position. As Overpass (Aus) (Vancouver) cut out a brutal early tempo, Purton kept his mount poised just behind the leaders as Jimmysstar (NZ) (Per Incanto {USA}) made a surprise move to slide up on his outside. At the top of the straight, Purton remained relaxed before pushing the button on Ka Ying Rising, who surged into clear air and struck the front at the furlong, racing clear for an effortless victory against Australia's best equine athletes. Top Godolphin filly Tempted (Street Boss {USA}) ran on strongly along the inside to finish 1.15 lengths back in second, narrowly ahead of her stablemate Jimmysstar who raced for TAB and finished 1.42 lengths back from the winner. Already a multiple Group 1 winner and a sprinting powerhouse at home, the Shamexpress gelding arrived in Sydney carrying immense expectation as the clear odds-on favourite for the richest race on turf. With 14 wins from 16 starts, all but one of them over 1200 metres, Ka Ying Rising's record spoke for itself but The Everest would ask new questions on foreign turf, under intense pressure, and in front of a global audience. The pre-race attention reached phenomenal heights after a plain trial at Randwick raised eyebrows and travel queries lingered, however trainer David Hayes remained confident throughout. In the end, Ka Ying Rising answered the doubters with authority. “It was a long way down that straight but when he got over the rise and Zac hadn't used him I thought they were going to have to be pretty good to beat him,” Hayes said. “I can't wait to really watch the replay and enjoy it. It's a long straight at Randwick isn't it when you hit the front with 300 metres to go but I think he held on pretty well. Great ride by Zac (Purton) and I actually would've been shattered if he lost today. I think there's more to come with this horse.” Hayes, who has recorded 67 Group 1 victories, rated the win as one of the greatest of his stellar training career. “It's certainly the biggest thrill in my life,” he said. “It's been the longest ten days in my life I think. He (Better Loosen Up) was the last world champion rated horse I've trained and this is the next one. A lot of good horses in between but these are the two stars.” It was a performance worthy of his reputation and one that confirmed his standing as one of the world's premier sprinters. However, Purton was adamant that we didn't see the best of Ka Ying Rising at Randwick and also admitted he'd had his doubts in the lead up to the race. “There were a few days when I was not that happy with his trial but the more I analyzed it, the ground was soft and he didn't like it, he was overweight and heavy,” Purton said post-race. “Overpass is a pretty good horse and I underestimated him until I went back into his replays over the last few days and he'd just been beaten in an Everest before so I thought, well, he just got beaten in an Everest and I couldn't beat him in a trial so he's still there.” “I don't think we saw him at his best today but even though he wasn't at his best he's still good enough.” The result was a landmark moment not only for connections, but also for Hong Kong Jockey Club who own The Everest slot. Ka Ying Rising made history; becoming the first international runner to win The Everest. It is the gelding's 14th consecutive victory and took his earnings past a staggering $20-million. EPIC! 23. Ten furlongs? No problem, as Calandagan (Gleneagles) dominated his rivals to land his first Group 1 at the trip in Ascot's Qipco Champion Stakes on Saturday. Pigeon-holed as a mile-and-a-half performer following his wins in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and King George this summer, The Aga Khan Studs representative went through this test with ease under Mickael Barzalona. In front and in command approaching the final furlong, the 15-8 second favourite powered to the line to beat the 13-8 market-leader Ombudsman (Night Of Thunder) by 2 1/4 lengths. There was another 1 3/4-length margin back to Almaqam (Lope De Vega) who edged out Delacroix (Dubawi) for third. Capping a stellar season for Francis Graffard and his owner-breeders, Calandagan becomes the first horse to win the King George and Champion Stakes in the same season since the great Brigadier Gerard in 1972. 24. Adding another bizarre twist to the 2025 Qipco British Champions Day, the 100-1 shot Cicero's Gift (Muhaarar) swooped to conquer for Charlie Hills and Jason Watson in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. Not really in the vicinity of the best of these on form despite carrying an early TDN Rising Star tag, Rosehill Racing's gelding outstayed The Lion In Winter (Sea The Stars) in the final furlong to register the second of the card's major upsets. At the line, the five-year-old who had warmed up for this by taking the Listed Fortune Stakes at Sandown last month had 1 1/4 lengths to spare over Ballydoyle's fellow TDN Rising Star, with Alakazi (Footstepsinthesand) a neck away in third as the big favourites all failed to fire. The 13-8 favourite Field Of Gold (Kingman) ran flat in fifth in a race that could have been heavily influenced by a far-rail bias. “You have to be surprised at that price in a race of that calibre, but the team at home know this horse so well and he's been in great order,” Watson said. “He had every right to be in this race, but we were looking for more rain and it's unbelievable. I can't help but feel that Barry Hills, who we lost this year, is looking down.” 100/1 WINNER! 25. Having captured the first two maidens on Leopardstown's Saturday card, Aidan O'Brien continued the sequence with Christmas Day (Camelot) in the nine-furlong G3 Mongey Communications Eyrefield Stakes. Coming off a maiden win at Gowran Park last month, the 13-2 shot was delivered by Jack Cleary to deny A Boy Named Susie (Starspangledbanner) on the line and prevail by a short head. The winner's stablemate, the 11-10 favourite Piazza San Marco (St Mark's Basilica), was only fourth. WHAT. A. FINISH.
