  1. Jim Bakke and Gerald Isbister's 'TDN Rising Star' Tip Top Thomas (c, 3, Volatile–Attempt to Name, by Consolidator), last seen finishing a very solid second going a one-turn mile in the GI Champagne S. at Aqueduct Oct. 5, is nearing a return to the races. The Travers day debut maiden winner has posted seven workouts at Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher's Palm Beach Downs base in 2025, most recently drilling a bullet five furlongs in 1:01.73 (1/5) Mar. 13. He is targeting a six-furlong allowance race at Keeneland Apr. 5, per Bakke. “Hopefully, he'll progress from his 2-year-old season and show some improvement,” Bakke said. “I think that's really important for a young horse to continue to move forward. He has been training very very well.” After posting a game head victory against a deep group– including subsequent MGSW Sovereignty (Into Mischief)–going six furlongs in a maiden special weight on debut at the Spa Aug. 24, Tip Top Thomas completed the exacta behind 'Rising Star' Chancer McPatrick (McKinzie) in the Champagne. The time off since was by design, Bakke said. “He's shown he's pretty much a sprinter, or more of a one-turn horse,” Bakke said. “We were dabbling with the idea that if he really ran big in the Champagne, maybe we'd try the (Breeders' Cup) Juvenile. We thought it would be better to put him away for the winter and get him fresh for the spring time.” One of three 'Rising Stars' from the first crop of Volatile, Tip Top Thomas brought $160,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale. He is a half-brother to three-time stakes winner Gray Attempt (Graydar) as well as Dua (Arrogate), third in both the 2023 GIII Sorrento S. and GII Chandelier S. Tip Top Thomas, bred in Kentucky by Wynnstay Inc., Donna Moore and Jim Richardson, is named after Isbister's grandson Thomas. “They came up with Tip Top Thomas–I think it was a cute name,” Bakke said. 10. Juddmonte homebred Laurel River (Into Mischief), off since an overeager second in the Jan. 24 G3 Firebreak Stakes, will skip the Apr. 5 G1 Dubai World Cup, according to trainer Bhupat Seemar. The 7-year-old entire was an imperious 8 1/2-length winner of the 2024 edition. “Laurel River is doing very good, but after his last gallop, we realize that there will not be enough time to get him fit for a race of this calibre,” said Seemar. A winner at Santa Anita before running third in the GIII Lazaro Barrera Stakes in 2021, Laurel River won the G3 Burj Nahaar last March before his Meydan heroics. Seemar did mention a couple of long term goals, however, and the bay will be given a chance at both the G1 Saudi Cup in February 2026 and the Dubai World Cup next year. “Juddmonte decided to give him the time and he can come back for the Saudi Cup and Dubai World Cup in 2026,” added Seemar. 11. The first mares have been reported in foal to multiple graded stakes winner Mr Fisk (Arrogate–Plein Air {Ire}, by Manduro {Ger}) and to graded winner Champions Dream (Justify–Dancinginherdreams, by Tapit). Both stallions are standing their first season at stud at Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Florida. Mr Fisk, who won the 2024 GII Hollywood Gold Cup, as well as last year's GIII Californian Stakes and the 2023 GIII Native Diver Stakes, stands for $8,500, live foal. Champions Dream, winner of the 2022 GIII Nashua Stakes, stands for $5,000, live foal. “We're thrilled to announce that both of Florida's only first-year stallions for 2025 have multiple mares confirmed in foal. This early success with Mr Fisk and Champions Dream validates the tremendous interest we've seen from breeders,” said Christine Jones, Director of Stallion Services at Pleasant Acres Stallions. “As the only son of the legendary Arroagate standing in Florida, Mr Fisk offers breeders a unique opportunity to tap into this exceptional bloodline. Similarly, Champions Dream, by Triple Crown winner Justify, has been equally well-received. These early confirmations are exactly what we hoped to see and demonstrate the confidence breeders have placed in these outstanding young stallions.” The post First Mares Reported in Foal to Mr Fisk and Champions Dream appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. 12. Paddy Twomey's squad has been bolstered by the return of one-time leading Derby prospect Deepone (Ire) (Study Of Man {Ire}), with the trainer hinting at having assembled his strongest-ever team of horses for the year ahead. Talented sprinter King Cuan (GB) (Tasleet {GB}) is another older horse who is reported to be back training well while Donagh O'Connor has joined the stable as second jockey behind Billy Lee. However, Twomey admitted to becoming increasingly frustrated by what he describes as 'disgraceful' levels of prize-money in Irish racing, and backed up similar points made by his Golden-based neighbour and trainer Fozzy Stack in the TDN on Monday as well as fellow handlers Ger Lyons and Johnny Murtagh in these pages previously. Twomey said, “I think the prize-money in this country is an absolute disgrace. What we're running around for in Ireland is a joke. Even looking at the winter all-weather programme in Ireland, it's not fit for purpose. You can't even a prepare a horse in this country over the winter for races in Dubai or wherever.” The total prize-money budget in Ireland for 2025 is €70.9m, which is up €1m on the overall prize-money that was paid out last year. On the Flat, Listed races have been increased to a minimum of €45,000 [from €37,500] with the winner of such races seeing just over €20,000 of that purse after deductions which, according to Stack, 'wouldn't feed a horse for a half a year.' Twomey's main gripe is with the value of Irish maidens with the trainer saying he feels the level of prize-money being offered for such races is far from sufficient given the level of competition. “Some of the best horses in the world are in training in Ireland and they are racing for buttons.” He explained, “Our level of racing makes it very hard to win, therefore, in my opinion you should be very well-rewarded when you do. It takes a very good horse to win in Ireland. I mean, if you win an Irish maiden, you're pretty much stakes-class and that is internationally recognised, therefore it means that you can be sold to another jurisdiction quite well. “But the prize-money for doing that is not up to scratch. The Curragh makes a song and a dance about having a €20,000 maiden-you're still only getting €11,000 as the winner. It's very expensive to purchase these horses for a start and that's not even talking about the expense involved in having them in training.” Twomey added, “To go to an Irish track where the prize fund is just over €10,000 and then it's only €6,000 or €7,000 to the winner, that's a hard sell to an owner who is investing heavily in the game. Some of the best horses in the world are in training in Ireland and they are racing for buttons. It's not like we have an extensive programme, either. It needs to be looked at. The fact that sales companies feel the need to supplement prize-money to the extent that they do highlights the terrible state that we are in. It's a very poor reflection on the funding structure that's in place and it's going to be detrimental to us in the future.” Twomey accumulated €694,860 in prize-money during the turf season in Ireland throughout 2024 [down from €1,463,795 in 2023] which made him the eighth-biggest earner within the training ranks. His tally of 19 winners included five at Listed level and one Group 3 while A Lilac Rolla (Ire) (Harry Angel {Ire}) and Purple Lily (Ire) (Calyx {GB}) were placed in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and the Irish Oaks respectively. Yet, the trainer's statistics were questioned in some corners of the media and Twomey himself admitted to being unsatisfied with the number of winners he had amassed in an interview with Racing TV midway during the season. However, he now describes some of the criticism that was levelled his way as “white noise”, and points to the fact that he has concentrated the majority of his resources into later-maturing, quality middle-distance types, which goes some way in explaining why he sent out just two winners from 22 juvenile runners in 2024. To that extent, Twomey says he has a large number of unraced three-year-olds that excite him. Paddy Twomey | Zuzanna Lupa He said, “I would be surprised if we were involved in the early Classics because I didn't run many two-year-olds last year and, what I did run, they wouldn't scream at being precocious enough to be involved in a Guineas. We've a very nice group of unraced three-year-olds to go to war with. Obviously some of them have run, but a significant number of our Oaks and Derby entries did not run last year. We also have a strong team of older horses to complement what appears to be a nice bunch of two-year-olds so I think it's a good group. We're always trying to grow and to try and get the best calibre of horse into the yard that we can and we can't do that without the owners so we appreciate all of the support that we do get.” New additions include the Listed-winning Magical Hope (GB) (Frankel {GB}), bought out of the Godolphin draft at Arqana for €500,000 last year and Prix de Diane sixth Bubble Gum (Fr) (Cloth Of Stars {Ire}) while Twomey has Group 1 aspirations this year for stable star Purple Lily. “The plan is to win a Group 1 with her [Purple Lily] if we can. She has shown Group 1 level of ability and she is a fine, big strong mare. One Look (Ire) (Gleneagles {Ire}) could start in the Park Express Stakes, Beechwood (Ire) (Le Havre {Ire}) could go for the Noblesse Stakes while Deepone and King Cuan are back on the team. Deepone suffered a minor setback after he was fourth in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown and unfortunately that ruled him out for the rest of the season. He won the Beresford Stakes as a two-year-old and we were looking forward to a Classic campaign with him last year. But the tiny setback at Leopardstown put paid to that. “He's back looking great and is ready to start–he could go for something like the Alleged Stakes at the Curragh in a couple of weeks' time. We genuinely thought he could have been a Derby horse last year. Study Of Man is a stallion I was keen to buy the stock of from the start and the only one I managed to buy was Deepone. I haven't been able to buy another one since so hopefully we can have a good year with him! He hasn't run at all as a three-year-old–I just wasn't pleased with him in the spring and we never worked him, we just gave him the summer off. He's back with us and is training great. He's now a gelding and, if everything went to plan, he could go for the Cork Stakes on April 6.” Twomey added, “Billy Lee is obviously here and Donagh O'Connor is a new addition to us. He's going to ride number two to Billy and we're delighted to have him on the team. I think Donagh is a fabulous rider and is someone I have had my eye on for a while. We actually had the conversation in the past and it just didn't come into place until this winter when I asked him if he would have any interest in joining us for a couple of days a week. We've got to the size now where we need a number two. I think Donagh is underappreciated for the level of skill that he has and I am hoping that we have a good association together.” The post Deepone Return A Boost For Twomey – But The Trainer Blasts ‘Disgraceful’ Irish Prize-Money appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. 14. Her dam had once been claimed for $15,000 and when John Fort's vet went out to approve the transaction, he found the filly grazing with a bunch of cattle. He rang Fort to check whether he realized that she wasn't even on a horse farm. “It's a cattle ranch,” he told the owner of Peachtree Stable. “She's the only horse out here.” Fort had noticed that she was bred by a Greenwich Cattle Company, but had given it no further thought. He had loved the filly, from the first crop of Any Given Saturday, when pulled out at the 2010 September Sale-and felt a nudge from fate when turning to her page: she was out of a sister to Invisible Ink, who had carried his silks into second in the 2001 Kentucky Derby. But Fort duly assumed that she would cost plenty and, having already stretched for three fillies earlier in the auction, nearly missed her. It was only when he noticed her listed as a $47,000 RNA that he hastened to the barn and struck a deal for $50,000, contingent on that vetting. He named her Princess Arabella and by the time Plum Pretty (Medaglia d'Oro) won them the Sunland Park Oaks by 25 lengths, Fort could already promise Bob Baffert that this filly would light up the next cycle. Sure enough, even though Plum Pretty had gone on to win the GI Kentucky Oaks, Baffert suggested that Princess Arabella might prove better yet after she broke her maiden at Santa Anita on the last day of the year. That prophecy remained intact as Princess Arabella graduated from an allowance to emulate her barnmate's success in the Sunland Park Oaks, albeit “only” by eight lengths from none other than Glinda the Good (Hard Spun), meanwhile celebrated as the dam of Good Magic. Unfortunately, that turned out to be her final start. The following January, at Keeneland, Summer Wind Farm recruited Princess Arabella, in foal to Tapit, for $725,000. Unfortunately her first colt died in a paddock accident, but he was obviously a good type as Princess Arabella was promptly returned to Tapit. The resulting filly retrieved her dam's cost in one hit when sold to Cheyenne Stables as a Saratoga yearling for $750,000 and, named Tapella, showed enough as a sophomore-winning a maiden and allowance at Belmont-to be tried in the GII Comely Stakes, running a creditable fourth. Princess Arabella meanwhile continued to pay her way, notably in banking $925,000 for an Uncle Mo colt, albeit her only foal ultimately to earn black type was her daughter by Candy Ride (Arg), Ulele. She, too, was bought by Cheyenne at Saratoga, for $300,000, before running second in the GII Black Eyed Susan Stakes. Having now entered production herself, Ulele can profit from her half-sister's exceptional start as a broodmare. Tapella's first foal, an Into Mischief filly sold for $510,000, is GII Golden Rod winner Hoosier Philly; and now her third, a Justify colt sold to BC Stables for $750,000 at the 2023 September Sale, has suddenly exploded on the GI Kentucky Derby trail. We are talking, of course, about American Promise. It is a measure of the astounding longevity of Wayne Lukas that a colt aiming to become his fifth Kentucky Derby winner should have a third dam-Princess Arabella's mother, Tortuga Lady (Thunder Gulch)-sired by his second. Tortuga Lady was claimed at Ellis Park when winning the last of her three starts. Times have changed, you feel. Would anyone today run a filly under a $15,000 tag barely a year after her brother ran second in the Derby? Not that she made a killing when sold on to Bobby McIntyre a few months later, at Fasig-Tipton February, for $67,000. Yet she came from a fair family, her third dam being half-sister to Belmont Stakes winner Quadrangle. (And actually, having produced multiple graded stakes-placed Dyna's Lassie (Dynaformer) even before she had Princess Arabella, Tortuga Lady eventually seems to have been privately transferred en route to producing no fewer than 17 registered foals-to Peter Blum's broodmare band.) Quadrangle was a big, raw horse who gradually matured into his frame. Both Thunder Gulch and Tortuga Lady's damsire Conquistador Cielo were also Belmont winners. And those flavors are reinforced in the Justify/Tapit cross behind American Promise: his sire famously completed the Triple Crown having never raced at two, while Tapit's four Belmont winners represent a modern record. Moreover American Promise carries a strong dose of another Belmont winner, A.P. Indy, whose son Pulpit gave us not only damsire Tapit but also Justify's granddam; while Any Given Saturday, sire of Princess Arabella, is out of an A.P. Indy mare. Combine those genes with the throwback methods of Lukas, pulling Saturday's spectacular Virginia Derby out of his hat with a “big, rangy horse that was in a growth spurt,” American Promise has every right to keep consolidating on the foundations laid in breaking his maiden only at the sixth attempt. Here is one horse, in fact, who might wish that the Belmont Stakes had not again suffered abbreviation at Saratoga this year. Fond Memories The filly who joined American Promise in exploiting a new staging post on the road to Churchill looks a rather faster learner. Fondly (Upstart) arrived for the Virginia Oaks as winner of a solitary start, but the way she overcame inexperience reiterated the immense promise of both her parents. Her dam Lifetime Memory (Istan) did not progress in only two further starts after winning a dirt sprint on debut. But her first foal, Antiquarian (Preservationist), won the GIII Peter Pan Stakes last year and is back on the worktab having disappeared after the Belmont. Fondly quickly proved well bought, then, Antiquarian having remained unraced when Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners found her for $50,000 at the Fasig-Tipton October Sale as a yearling. But that's the kind of thing that can happen, if you tap into the kind of beautifully curated families we know to expect from Airdrie Stud. Antiquarian | Adam Coglianese That auction took place barely a month after the funeral of farm founder Brereton C. Jones. Its consignment there also contained a son of Antiquarian's sire who was sold for just $2,500. As fast-closing GII Risen Star runner-up Chunk of Gold (Preservationist), he's fancied to earn additional starting points in the GII Louisiana Derby on Saturday. A glimpse of her page suffices to identify Fondly as an apt Governor Jones legacy, with her first three dams by Istan, Harlan's Holiday and Silver Hawk. Very few would have given a couple of those a chance in Kentucky, while the one in between sired a horse called Into Mischief during his debut season at Airdrie. Fondly's fourth dam was another impressive Jones project. He bought Now That's Funny (Saratoga Six) with partners at the 1992 Keeneland November Sale for $19,500, in foal to Fast Play. The colt she was carrying turned out to be Royal Ascot winner/G1 July Cup runner-up Lucayan Prince. The mare's next foal Comic Strip (Red Ransom) won the Louisiana Derby, after which she was sold to John Gaines for $2.65 million at the Keeneland November Sale. But Jones had meanwhile retained her daughter by Silver Hawk, Silver Comic, who won the GII Mrs Revere Stakes. Silver Comic was subsequently included in the second book of Harlan's Holiday and produced Silver Reunion, a graded stakes winner on turf. In turn retired to the Airdrie paddocks, Silver Reunion delivered GII Lake Placid Stakes winner Speaktomeofsummer (Summer Front) as well as Lifetime Memory, now dam of two Classic candidates from two attempts. As for Fondly's sire, after riding out a typical “bubble” he looks poised for a major breakout. Fondly was one of just 49 live Upstart foals in 2022, but that year his second crop included leading contenders for both Derby and Oaks and he has since covered 429 mares across three books. His 2024 yearlings elevated their average by 60 percent, a telling indicator of an imminent uptick in both the quality and quantity of his stock. From Buster to Boom Upstart's granddam is by Housebuster and that dashing horse's unraced sister, Dreamscape (Mt, Livermore), obviously channeled some zip into Booth, who last weekend announced himself at graded stakes level in the GIII Whitmore Stakes. Booth becomes the third graded stakes winner from three starters out of Dreamscape's daughter Sophia's Song (Bellamy Road), herself a stakes winner who missed the GIII Charles Town Oaks by a neck and nose. Previously she has produced GI Jockey Gold Cup winner Bright Future (Curlin) and GII Locust Grove Stakes scorer Musical Mischief (Into Mischief), albeit the latter remained only a maiden winner when Sophia's Song was cashed out to Shadai for $1.35 million at Fasig-Tipton's 2023 November Sale. Nor, obviously, was it yet clear quite how big a favor Mitole had received when Sophia's Song entered his debut book, but he has made his opportunity count in joining only class leader Omaha Beach among their intake with a third graded stakes winner. They have proved a notably unproductive lot, overall, by this key measure-but let's not forget that Mitole only reached his peak at four. While Booth was a TDN 'Rising Star' debutant at two, there have been ups and downs since and only now that he has himself turned four does he really seem to have found his groove. Incidentally, the dam of Dreamscape and Housebuster, Big Dreams (Great Above), also features as fourth dam of reigning champion sprinter Straight No Chaser (Speightster). 20. The Australian multiple Group 1 winner Bella Nipotina (Aus) (Pride Of Dubai {Aus}) has been retired from racing and will be offered for sale at public auction in May. Trainer Ciaron Maher announced the seven-year-old's retirement on social media on Tuesday. He said, “Bella was the most consistent and toughest racehorse I have ever had the pleasure to train. She has given me some of my biggest thrills in racing and has had a wonderful career. “I feel honoured to have been part of her journey, and the last 12 months have shown the true makings of a genuine Australian sprinter.” In 57 starts, Bella Nipotina won 11 races, including Group 1 victories in three different states, and was placed a further 26 times. Her most recent victory at the top level came in the TAB Everest at Randwick in October. She has earned more than A$22.7 million (including bonuses) in prize-money during her five seasons of racing Originally trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Bella Nipotina, who was bred by Saconi Thoroughbreds, was an A$80,000 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale graduate when purchased by Lindsay Park and Andrew Williams Bloodstock. 21. Leading trainer Mick Price says Public Attention‘s (NZ) (Written Tycoon) racing days could be as a sprinter, with doubts over whether the grey colt sees out a strong longer trip. The Written Tycoon colt won first-up over 1200m and ran well in the Gr.2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) won by Broadsiding but may not have seen out the 1500m in the inaugural NZB Kiwi in New Zealand. Public Attention was targeted at and eventually ran fifth in last year’s Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m). “He’s run 1400m, 1500m, 1600m and each time at the end of those races I’ve thought he’s really started to slug it out a bit, whereas in his 1200-metre races he’s been hard to the line,” said Price, who trains in partnership with Michael Kent Jnr. “I think I might be on the wrong track trying to get a mile out of him. Even though he’s out of that beautiful New Zealand mile family, he’s a Written Tycoon and I reckon he’s better off fresh.” Public Attention will be next seen at the races contesting the Gr.2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) in Sydney on April 12. “He’ll be fresh up into the Arrowfield,” Price said. Public Attention is a $15 chance in Sportsbet’s early market for the Arrowfield Sprint. View the full article

  23. By Dave Di Somma, Harness News Desk A mixture of the familiar and the unknown awaits well-known racing personality Brittany Graham as she prepares to take up a new job on this side of the Tasman. This week the born and bred Queenslander starts her new job with Entain/TAB. She’ll be a presenter on Trackside on shows including The Box Seat and Friday Night Lights. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous,” says Graham, “but it’s good nerves. “It’s a bit daunting but exciting too.” The harness racing part of the job is not an issue. “Harness racing really is my whole life .. it’s been all-consuming.” So where does the “unknown” part come in? That’s the move to New Zealand. “I’ve never lived overseas. Apart from two years in Sydney I’ve lived my whole life in Queensland.” “I’m also a country girl at heart who’s moving to a new country and a new city.” Graham will be based in Christchurch where she’s already secured an inner city apartment. Graham is no stranger to Trackside audiences in this country through her work as a presenter for Sky Racing in Australia. “This is a real coup. Brittany is a rare talent,” says Entain’s Chief Media Officer Chris Haigh, “her expertise and infectious presenting style will be a fantastic addition to our strong talent line-up.” Harness Racing New Zealand Chief Executive Brad Steele agrees : “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Brittany Graham to New Zealand as she brings her exceptional knowledge, passion, and fan engagement skills to our harness racing industry. As one of Queensland’s most respected racing personalities, Brittany has a unique ability to connect with both dedicated racing enthusiasts and new fans alike.” As well as her talents as a broadcaster Graham is also a successful trainer and driver in her own right. She’s had 310 wins as a driver and 41 as a trainer with the highlight being a fifth with her horse Majestic Harry in the 2022 Inter Dominion won by the all conquering Just Believe. 2025 represents a fresh start – so why the move? “I get asked this a lot. Things (harness racing) are going pretty well over there so why not? It’s right place right time really.” “I got to the position where I knew everyone and the horses and you get a bit complacent at times and this is going to be very much a new challenge.” Graham won’t be bringing any horses with her. “I was going to bring Majestic Harry but by the time I got settled with him it would have been winter and he’s eight years old.” “So I’ve retired him and he’ll become a show horse.” Longer term she has plans to train one or two. “I’m used to being hands-on with horses. Getting up and working the horses is what I do.” “I’d love to have a horse that I could take to the summer circuit races and the grass tracks – that would be fun.” One of Graham’s trademarks is her pre-race interviews with drivers. “To be walking around the track and siding up to Grant Dixon and Leap To Fame just before they turn into the gates for the Miracle Mile is pretty cool.” It’s a hit in Australia and it’s something she plans to do here as well. “Drivers are much more open about things. They are aware their competitors can’t hear them and those who can know that it’s too late to change tactics!” “She will take NZ’s harness coverage to a new level with her pre and post race interviews out on the track, bringing the buzz of the sport into people’s living rooms,” says Adam Hamilton, Entain’s Head of Group Talent and Racing, Australia and New Zealand. “Her arrival is a huge asset as we continue to showcase to the world just how exciting and world-class our New Zealand harness racing product truly is,” says Steele, “Welcome, Brittany – we can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make!” Graham will make some guest appearances on Trackside initially, with her first big gig being part of the team on-course for Cambridge’s Night of Champions on Friday, April 4 that features the $1m Race by betcha and the $600,000 TAB Trot. “I’m ready to get stuck in!” View the full article

Antrim Coast was an overlooked outsider at $41.00, but was given a gun ride from Michael Dee throughout. Fellow Kiwi Quintessa was given a dream run by Opie Bosson, sitting in fourth before sailing through a gap along the rails at the turn. She quickened smartly and opened up what looked like a winning advantage, but then along came Antrim Coast. After settling in the back half of the field, Mick Dee got him up and rolling 800m from the finish. He came four-wide around the turn, balanced up and lengthened stride. He slowly but surely drew up alongside Quintessa, fighting a head-bobbing battle with her through the final 100m and snatching victory by a nose. 2023: Bank Maur finishes best The Richie Laming stable always saw Bank Maur’s potential to deliver a big payday, and he did just that in the 2023 Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley. Craig Newitt showed all his experience to time the gelding’s run home to perfection, hitting the front with 50m to go in the Group 2 feature worth $750,000. The three-year-old colt held off Suizuro from there, winning by three quarters of a length. 2022: Prix De Turn causes upset Prix De Turn won the 2022 Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley providing his sire Turn Me Loose with his third stakes winner within a week. A massive prize for young Cranbourne based trainer Matthew Brown came to fruition as the colt saluted at $26. Coming with a sweeping run four wide rounding the home turn under a brilliant Beau Mertens ride, Prix de Turn defeated Can’t Go Wong by 1.25 lengths with War Eternal a half-length back in third.
