  1. What Seymour Races Where Seymour Racing Club – 55 Kobyboyn Rd, Seymour VIC 3660 When Sunday, December 29, 2024 First Race 1:30pm AEDT Visit Dabble A competitive eight-race meeting awaits punters out of the Seymour Racing Club on Sunday afternoon. A perfect day for racing is forecast in Victoria’s north, with a top of 28 degrees forecast, meaning the Good 4 track should remain throughout the day. The rail will be out 3m the entire circuit, with action set to get underway at 1:30pm AEDT. Best Bet at Seymour: Lunar Module Lunar Module has been a model of consistency this campaign, winning twice from four starts and finishing second in both of her other runs. The five-year-old mare was a determined Ballarat maiden winner three runs back and added a second career win in dominant fashion at Moe on December 17. From barrier eight, Beau Mertens will likely have Lunar Module settled outside the lead throughout, and when asked to quicken, Lunar Module could be her rivals away in a couple of strides. Best Bet Race 5 – #2 Lunar Module (8) 5yo Mare | T: Gavin Bedggood | J: Beau Mertens (61kg) Bet with Neds Next Best at Seymour: New Sovereign New Sovereign was a classy winner first-up from a six-month spell at Geelong on December 5 and looks poised to go on with the job on Sunday. Having been given the run of the race by Blake Shinn from barrier 12, the son of Sea The Moon produced a strong sprint to win by just under a length. Drawn out in barrier 14, Blake Shinn will need a touch to land such a valuable spot in running, but if the pair finds cover close to the speed, New Sovereign looks hard to beat. Next Best Race 7 – #5 New Sovereign (14) 5yo Gelding | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) | J: Blake Shinn (60.5kg) Bet with BlondeBet Best Value at Seymour: Milo Punters will get an each-way price with horse racing bookmakers about Milo, despite such a visually impressive victory at Mornington last time out on December 11. The four-year-old gelding Had the sit on a relatively genuine pace and sprinted sharply over 1200m to salute in a field of four. This is obviously harder, but if Thomas Stockdale can have Milo settled midfield with a touch of cover, his turn of foot will have him fighting out the finish in the second leg of the quaddie. Best Value Race 6 – #5 Milo (8) 4yo Gelding | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Thomas Stockdale (60.5kg) Bet with Picklebet Sunday quaddie tips for Seymour Seymour quadrella selections Sunday, December 29, 2024 2-6 5-6-7-12-15 5 Field | Copy this bet straight to your betslip Horse racing tips View the full article
  2. What Port Macquarie Races Where Port Macquarie Race Club – 283 Oxley Hwy, Port Macquarie NSW 2444 When Sunday, December 29, 2024 First Race 1:40pm AEDT Visit Dabble Country racing heads to Port Macquarie on Sunday afternoon, with a quickfire seven-race program lined up on the mid-north coast of NSW. The rail is in the true position the entire circuit, and with pristine summer conditions predicted across the weekend, punters can anticipate a Good 4 surface. The opening race is scheduled to get underway at 1:40pm local time. Best Bet at Port Macquarie: Rockbarton Flash Rockbarton Flash only found one better in the form of Tasoraay at Newcastle on December 19. The son of Sooboog took forever to wind-up on that occasion, putting in the big strides when it was all over at the end of 1350m. Stepping up to the 1500m should be ideal, and with barrier three allowing William Stanley to land in the one-one throughout, Rockbarton Flash will prove hard to hold out as he vindicates favouritism with horse racing bookmakers. Best Bet Race 2 – #9 Rockbarton Flash (3) 3yo Gelding | T: David Atkins | J: William Stanley (a3kg) (57.5kg) +140 with Neds Next Best at Port Macquarie: Formal The Nathan Doyle-trained Formal returns after a 143-day spell and appears primed for a first-up assault. The Exceed And Excel gelding caught the eye saluting in a recent barrier trial at Newcastle on December 4, making every post a winner to bolt clear by a half-length. Punters can expect similar tactics on resumption, and provided Benjamin Osmond can tick-over a soft sectional in the middle stages, watch for Formal to give a bold kick when they turn for home. Next Best Race 1 – #3 Formal (3) 3yo Gelding | T: Nathan Doyle | J: Benjamin Osmond (a2kg) (57kg) +250 with BlondeBet Best Value at Port Macquarie: Jack Duggan Although Jack Duggan was beaten as a well-supported favourite with Picklebet at Newcastle on December 19, the Jason Deamer-trained gelding gets a terrific opportunity to make amends. The son of Jack Milton was held-up at a crucial stage when the whips were cracking, with the six-year-old only managing to get clear in the final furlong. Ashley Morgan gets a chance to take closer order from stall four, and with even luck this time around, expect Jack Duggan to figure at the each-way price. Best Value Race 4 – #6 Jack Duggan (4) 6yo Gelding | T: Jason Deamer | J: Ashley Morgan (57.5kg) +700 with Picklebet Sunday quaddie tips for Port Macquarie Port Macquarie quadrella selections December 29, 2024 2-5-6-7 1-2-5-7 1-2-5-9-14 1-3-4-7 | Copy this bet straight to your betslip Horse racing tips View the full article

  4. Jockey Andrew Mallyon and Bubba’s Boy wins the Listed Nudgee Stakes for trainer Kris Lees. Photo: Darren Winningham Bubba’s Bay displayed her trademark grit and tactical speed to capture the $200,000 Magic Millions Nudgee Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday, December 28, earning her place in the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies & Mares (1300m) in a fortnight. Trained by Kris Lees and ridden by Andrew Mallyon, the five-year-old mare held off late challengers to claim a determined victory at $11 odds with Neds bookmaker. Jumping from a wide draw, Bubba’s Bay positioned herself just outside the early leader, Black on Beauty, demonstrating her usual tactical brilliance. Turning into the straight, Mallyon urged her forward, and despite the strong finishes from Midnight in Tokyo and Shalaa’s Moment, Bubba’s Bay dug deep to secure her 11th career victory. 2024 Listed Nudgee Stakes Replay – Bubba’s Bay https://horsebetting.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Eagle-Farm-2024-Listed-Nudgee-Stakes-28122024-Bubbas-Bay-Kris-Lees-Andrew-Mallyon.mp4 “She’s just incredibly tough,” Mallyon said post-race. “I had a plan to sort of sit outside the leader. A couple more kicked up underneath, but the speed sort of settled down really quickly. So I was able to have a really good break, and nothing came to me on the corner, so I was even able to nurse her right into the straight. She’s bulletproof.” Stable representative Mandy spoke glowingly of the mare’s adaptability and love for Queensland racing. “She’s a winner through and through,” Mandy said. “She’s got tactical speed, toughness, and she can do it the tough way. She can lead, she can take the trail, and most importantly, she’s always in for the fight. She’s just a legend.” Reflecting on Bubba’s Bay’s routine, Mandy added, “She loves it at home, and sometimes we take her to the beach. We haven’t been recently, but we’ll be taking her now. She’ll love it.” The ownership group, typically absent on race day, is expected to make the trip for the Magic Millions. “The owners are based down south, but they’ve been up here before, and I’m sure they’ll come for Magic Millions,” Mandy said. With her 12th victory from 26 starts, including five wins at the Gold Coast, Bubba’s Bay has firmly cemented herself as one of Queensland’s most reliable racehorses. Her adaptability and resilience were on full display at Eagle Farm, and she now looks forward to taking on the best in the Fillies & Mares race in January. Currently, none of the leading horse racing bookmakers have odds available for the race.. “She’ll be looking for it,” Mandy said of the Magic Millions. “She’s unbelievable, and we’ll look after her. She’s done a great job.” Midnight in Tokyo and Shalaa’s Moment both delivered strong performances to fill the minor placings, but it was Bubba’s Bay’s tactical brilliance and fighting spirit that made her the standout. 5. From his $500,000 purchase price at Karaka to his impressive jumpouts, there was a buzz surrounding Field Of Play in the lead-up to his raceday debut, and he lived up to the hype with a runaway victory in Saturday’s A$150,000 Drummond Golf Handicap (1200m) at Moonee Valley. The talented two-year-old won three jumpouts at Cranbourne, the most recent of them on December 18, and was sent out as a $2.70 favourite for his first start on Saturday. Field Of Play settled in third before rider Blake Shinn began to crank him up a long way from home. The favourite surged forward with more than 500m remaining and quickly poured on the pressure, powering past second favourite Neverenoughlego before the turn. The result was in no doubt from there as Field Of Play raced clear, sailing to victory by three and a quarter lengths. “He travelled beautifully and very correctly,” Shinn said. “He jumped nicely and I just allowed him to find his rhythm. I had the option to be more aggressive and try to take up a closer position, but I decided to just let him breathe in the trail behind the two leaders. He relaxed lovely. “I was pleasantly surprised by how easily he rounded up the leader, who was impressive in his first start and looked to be the hardest to beat in this race. “This horse treated his rivals with contempt in the end. That was a dominant display. Congratulations to his connections, they’ve got a smart horse here.” Co-trainer Trent Busuttin indicated that the gelding is now likely to target the Gr.1 Blue Diamond (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22. “He’s shown that sort of ability at home, so we were hoping he’d do that today,” Busuttin said. “Two-year-olds get beaten more than they win first-up, so we’re very happy to get the win. “He was up and going early in the spring and we took him to those first two-year-old trials at Caulfield, and he got a bit lost that day. But Luke Currie gave him a big wrap and said wait for 1200m, so we tipped him out, gave him a little break and now here he is. When Blake pushed the button as early as he did today, he obviously had a lapful of horse. “A race like the Blue Diamond is a natural target for him. We’re mindful of the fact that he’s not a 1000m type of two-year-old, so we’ll probably try to get him into the Blue Diamond Prelude (Gr.3, 1100m) in early February and go from there.” Field Of Play is by three-time champion Hong Kong sire Deep Field and out of a winning I Am Invincible mare. He was offered by Kaha Nui Farm in Book 1 of Karaka 2024, where he was knocked down to Jamie Richards and Andrew Williams Bloodstock for $500,000. “Mike Kneebone is a good friend of the family and has supported the stable for a long time,” Busuttin said. “He’s got a number of Hong Kong owners involved in the syndicate. The horse has ended up in our stable, and we’re obviously very happy about it. “He’s probably not a real two-year-old type. He throws a bit to I Am Invincible, which is obviously a good thing.” View the full article
  6. Leading Victorian trainer Ciaron Maher looks set to add some real international flavour to racing at Trentham next month with hardy stayer Interpretation likely to contest the Gr.3 NZ Campus Of Innovation & Sport Wellington Cup (3200m) on 18 January. The Maher stable has Smokin’ Romans, Herman Hesse, Le Don De Vie and Earl Of Tyrone nominated for the race alongside Interpretation, however the former European galloper and 2023 Gr.3 Bendigo Cup (2400m) winner is the one Maher indicated would make the trip across the Tasman. “We do have quite a few nominated for the Wellington Cup but at this stage it is Interpretation we see as the one who will make the trip,” Maher said. “The Trentham track will suit him down to the ground as he is a horse that needs room in his races and Trentham will provide him with that. “He is a very solid stayer with good ability but he doesn’t seem to get a lot of luck in his racing. “His Bendigo Cup win was outstanding and showed what he is capable of and he went on to go a super race when finishing seventh in the Melbourne Cup (Gr.1, 3200m) that year. “This year his Melbourne Cup run is best forgotten as we may have ridden him a little bit too handy, which is outside his pattern and he never really fired on the day, finishing well back.” Interpretation hasn’t raced since beating one home in the Melbourne Cup but has retained good fitness with two recent Cranbourne jump-out wins keeping him sharp. “He is going along quite well at home, his fitness is high and if anything, you need to keep him bright and above himself to see him at his best,” Maher said. “If he does make it to the race, it is likely he will also stay on for the Auckland Cup (Gr.2, 3200m) in March as it makes sense to us at this stage.” While Interpretation could well stay on, Maher will get plenty of frequent flyer miles under his belt as he also plans to return for the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale which kicks off on 26 January at Karaka. Maher has been a regular attendee at Karaka and has made his presence felt on numerous occasions, purchasing a number of black-type performers including 2023 Gr.1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) winner Ruthless Dame, who he secured for $90,000 from the Curraghmore Book 1 Sale draft in 2021. “It would be nice to come across for the Wellington Cup and then stay on to the Karaka Yearling Sale, however there is so much going on at home, it’s not really feasible,” he said. “There will be a few plane trips involved no doubt, but I’m looking forward to getting over for the sale.” Maher has currently trained 102 winners in Victoria for the season, three ahead of his nearest challengers Ben, Will and JD Hayes, with a total of 152 wins across Australia for more than $42 million in prizemoney. 10. Cooey (Girvin) was all the rage from a pari-mutel perspective in Friday's eighth race from Santa Anita, but the more lightly regarded first-time starter Our Moonlight (f, 2, Tapit–Mannerly, by Unbridled's Song) confronted the odds-on choice a sixteenth of a mile from the wire and rolled home to an impressive 2 3/4-length victory to become yet another 'TDN Rising Star' for her all-conquering sire. Off at 8-1 from a 6-1 morning line with Cooey taking the lion's share of the action at 4-5, Our Moonlight–a $325,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase–was one of the first to break the line, but Juan Hernandez was dead-set on making the front with Cooey from her inside alley and the pair headed off their rivals a furlong into the proceedings. Between horses for the run around the turn, Our Moonlight didn't appear entirely comfortable and came off the bridle, leaving herself in a vulnerable position if she was to reel in the front-runner. Surf Song (Maclean's Music) also loomed a threat at midstretch, but by this time, Tiago Pereira had Our Moonlight in full flight and she collared Cooey with about 100 yards to race en route to a visually impressive victory. Our Moonlight is the second high-profile winner for her dam in the last several days, as her the mare's 3-year-old gelded son Upstanding (Curlin) broke his maiden by an imposing nine-length margin going the one-turn mile configuration at Gulfstream Park Dec. 22. Stonestreet purchased Our Moonlight's dam for $360,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Sale and raced her to four victories and a third-place effort in the GIII Locust Grove Stakes while banking in excess of $175,000. The 54th 'Rising Star' for Tapit, Our Moonlight is bred on the exact same cross as champion and fellow 'Rising Star' Unique Bella and on a similar cross to 'Rising Star' Scylla, whose broodmare sire First Defence is a son of Unbridled's Song. Second dam Mary Elise is a full-sister to MSW and GISP Spring Awakening, herself the dam of Tapit's Grade III winner Walk Close. The 4-5 favorite had plenty of company up front, dueling with Roman Gratis (Stanford) and Manzoni (Lotsa Mischief) early and having to put away a determined Candy Caballo around the far turn. Narrowly ahead of that rival into the stretch, he just edged away in the late stages to win ahead of a closing Don't Fly Stand By (Upstart). 12. Drawn in the 10-hole for this next stop on his comeback tour, MGISW White Abarraio (Race Day) will tackle 11 others in the GIII Mr. Prospector Stakes at Gulfstream Park all while keeping an eye on the GI Pegasus World Cup in January. The class of the field with the numbers and earnings to match in this seven-furlong contest, White Abarrio was given 3-5 morning line favoritism to work with despite likely being lower when the gates open. After his 10 1/4-length romp last out Nov. 22 against local optional claiming company, Saffie Joseph Jr. has the grey primed for another step toward that goal.. “He handled it well. There was a lot of pressure on him going in and we were happy to see him bounce back,” Joseph said. “It seemed that his performance was up to his previous good ones, so hopefully he'll come back in this race and do the same.” “He seems to have come forward from that race, which is a good sign. Hopefully, all the signs lead to a good performance on Saturday.” That isn't to say he'll have it easy with distance specialist GSW & GSW-Chi Mufasa (Chi) (Practical Joke) looking to rebound off a disappointing 11th in the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile Nov. 2 at Del Mar and play the spoiler here. 13. Missing for over a year since finishing a strong second on his lone other appearance to date at Los Alamitos, MARCH OF TIME (c, 3, Justify–Untouched Talent, by Storm Cat) made up for lost time, sprinting clear through the final eighth of a mile to graduate by about three lengths in sharp time. Very quickly into stride for Juan Hernandez, the beautifully bred bay was displaced on the front end by the debuting $725,000 Keeneland September grad Pursuit of Freedom (Speightstown), who blazed a trail from the front. Kept within striking distance on the turn, March of Time was asked for his best leaving the quarter pole, went to the weakening pacesetter outside the furlong grounds and pulled away to take it by about three lengths. 17. By Jonny Turner Personal triumph was the last thing on Jonny Cox’s mind as Pinseeker delivered a powerful victory in the Mataura Licensing Trust Gore Cup yesterday. Cox lowered his head before crossing the line with his brilliant pacer, in a nod to his partner Kimberly Butt’s grandfather, the former master trotting trainer Dick Prendergast. Prendergast was in hospital and surrounded by his family with the Gore Cup playing in the background as the feature event was run. Prendergast would pass away just a matter of minutes later, making Cox’s victory even more special. “Kim’s mum Karen (Prendergast) and the whole family have done a lot for us,” Cox said. “If we could do it, I wanted to dedicate this win to Dick.” “It is pretty emotional, to be honest.” “I found out afterwards that he passed away with the whole family there by his side and they had the race playing for him earlier on.” Prendergast was a highly regarded trainer, particularly of trotters, and among his many feature race successes, he produced Simon Katz to win the Group 1 Dominion with Kimberly Butt’s father Anthony in the sulky. Prendergast’s colours can still be seen regularly across the South Island through Matthew Williamson’s team. Prendergast had a strong connection with the Williamson family, with Phil Williamson having worked for the trainer. Cox took no chances with Pinseeker, ensuring the pacer had every chance to run to his memorable victory. The trainer-driver moved out of the one-one at the bell, heading to the lead before leaving his opposition in his dust. “We have thrown him in the deep end more often than not and has never disgraced himself,” Cox said. “It is never easy off 20m around Gore and I thought today would be our chance to put him in the race and see if he’s really as good as what we think.” “He did a great job and I am super proud of him.” Pinseeker’s win was a huge thrill for his ownership group, many of whom live near Gore or are originally from the area. The star pacer is raced by Iain Wilson, Peter Brinsdon, Jason Wood, Bernie McKone ONZM, Phil Stephens, Logan Boersma and Gary May. All of the group are keen golfers, which led to Pinseeker getting his name as a youngster. “We have been pretty lucky with him, he has been a revelation for us,” Brinsdon said. “It has been a bit of a surprise really because we didn’t pay a lot for him.” “He is a big, overgrown horse and we have given him plenty of time and Jonny has done an amazing job with him.” Gore’s Christmas meeting was a big day for the Brinsdon family with Peter’s brother Matt training Shezza Vinny to win race 6. In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. 19. While Runhappy has always been 'The Man' in Cordell Anderson's book, over the past two months, Thorpedo Anna (Fast Anna) has quickly become 'The Girl.' Anderson is best known for his steady presence in the sales ring. The Jamaican-born horseman has been a showman at Keeneland for the past 35 years, leading countless horses to seven-figure sales over the decades, but Anderson has also worked for various racing stables throughout his career. He worked for Kenny McPeek about 20 years ago before later moving on to Laura Wohlers of Gallery Racing, where he was the groom of 2015 champion sprinter Runhappy. In April of this year, Anderson returned to McPeek to work at the trainer's base at Magdalena Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. Following the Breeders' Cup, GI Kentucky Oaks victress and newly crowned Distaff champ Thorpedo Anna moved to Magdalena, where she spent just under two months there before gearing up for her 4-year-old season. Anderson was the filly's groom during her 'R and R' at Magdalena and he quickly grew attached to the superstar. “She's a different species,” said Anderson. “She just knows that she is 'The Girl.' She is really special. She doesn't wait around for you to take her to the paddock. When it comes morning, she says, 'I want to go. Let's get out of here.'” At first 'Thorpedo,' as she's called by Anderson, did not respond well to being turned out on her own and would pace the fenceline, but when she was introduced to paddock-mate Cooper, a retired show jumper, she settled in with ease. “She didn't feel comfortable by herself, but when we turned Cooper out with her they just got to be buddies and she's loving his company,” Anderson shared. “She'll be running around Cooper and he'll just walk real slowly. She goes up to him, kind of nudges him a little bit and Cooper doesn't move. Cooper is great for her. She has put on weight and she's doing good.” Thorpedo Anna and her paddock-mate Cooper | Sara Gordon What Thorpedo Anna may have lacked in sunshine during these past few fairly dreary weeks in Kentucky was more than made up for with the care she received from Anderson and the rest of the team at Magdalena. The champion and Horse of the Year candidate shipped to Silverleaf Hills Training Center in Florida just before Christmas and will soon move to McPeek's barn at Fair Grounds to prepare for her 4-year-old debut. Anderson joked that a decade or two ago, he might have put his hat in the ring to become her groom at the racetrack for her 4-year-old season. “If I was a little bit younger, I think I would like to take her on for the second round,” he said with a laugh. As it is, he'll happily cheer her on from Magdalena in 2025. 21. Starting with the Jan. 10 card, purses will be cut at Sam Houston Race Park as there is uncertainty about funding mechanisms going forward for purses. Bryan Pettigrew, the vice president and general manager of Texas Racing Operations, contacted horsemen Thursday to give them advance warning of the cuts. Due to legal issues involving HISA, the Texas Thoroughbred tracks can no longer send their simulcast signal out of state. While that has decimated handle, purses have held their own thanks to the Texas Thoroughbred Association receiving funds from something called the Horse Industry Escrow Account (HIEA). Each year up to $25 million from sales tax on purchased horse-related items (feed, tack, etc.) is deposited into the HIEA and up to 70% of the funds can be spent on purses. It covers all racing breeds in the state. According to Pettigrew's email there is “uncertainty” over the Texas Thoroughbred Association continuing to receive money from HIEA and it appears that money will not be available when Sam Houston opens Jan. 3. The matter cannot be resolved until a February meeting of the Texas Racing Commission. Purses will be adjusted for races during Week 2 (Jan. 10-12), through Week 7 (ending Feb. 16). Maiden special weight races will be reduced from $40,000 to $33,000. There will also be a reduction in purses for “non-winners” allowance races from $40,000 to $33,000. In addition, there will be one less race a day through Feb. 16, for a total of 18 fewer races. Pettigrew wrote that once the February Texas Racing Commission meeting is completed further adjustments may be made. Outspoken owner Karl Broberg took to X to express his opinion, tweeting “Late Christmas gift courtesy of the amazing leadership we have seen since Texas Racing Commission went off the rails in their quest to make Texas racing irrelevant. #ExcellenceStartsHere.” The post Troubled Sam Houston to Cut Purses at Upcoming Meet appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. 23. Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) will honor Brandon and Diannah Perry as well as Maryland-based Beyond the Wire with the Allaire du Pont Leadership Award and the Ellen and Herb Moelis Industry Service Award, respectively, during the 35th Annual Stallion Season Live Auction and Celebration Sunday, Jan. 12, the organization announced via press release Friday. The Allaire de Pont Leadership Award being presented to the Perrys is awarded to an organization or individual (s) for philanthropic contributions consistent with the TCA's mission as the charitable arm of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA). The pair was recently named Philanthropists of the Year in Ocala/Marion County, Florida. The Ellen and Herb Moelis Industry Service Award is presented to an organization that works to uphold the TCA's mission of raising and distributing funds to charities in the Thoroughbred industry that provide a better life for Thoroughbreds, both on and off the track, and the people who care for them. Beyond the Wire, launched in 2017 by the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, has facilitated the placement of more than 700 horses. Operating at Laurel Park, Pimlico, and Fair Hill Training Center, the group strives to provide 'safe and enriching placements' at partner facilities for retiring Maryland-based racehorses. 25. There were plenty of presents under John Stewart's Christmas Tree this week, including two Group I winners from South America and an Australian pedigree research site, pedigreees360.com. that he has purchased. The Argentine purchase is Pulp Fiction (Arg) (Daddy Long Legs), a 3-year-old filly. Pulp Fiction has raced just four times but one of the wins came in the G1 Polla de Potrancas. She was also third in the G3 Manuel J. Guiraldes S. From Chile, Stewart's Resolute Racing has acquired another 3-year-old filly in Dona Clota (Chi) (Delfa ({Chi}). She is a two-time Group I winner in Chile and will be pointed for the Jan. 25 GII Pegasus World Cup Turf Filly & Mare Invitational at Gulfstream. Both horses will be trained in the U.S. by Ignacio Correas. “Dona Clota, we think could be a freak,” Stewart said. “She has beat the boys twice in Group I's and we purchased her with the intent of pointing her toward the Pegasus Filly & Mare Turf.” Stewart will also run Pounce (Lookin at Lucky) in the Filly & Mare Turf. Stewart said he has been inundated with people looking to sell him horses. “We have been using social media to circumvent the traditional methods which leads to over 100 horses per week being offered to us from all over the world. Of course, we are focused on enhancing the herd in North America so bringing diversity back to the U.S. is important. “Some of the markets that have been dependent on Kentucky for seeding their herds have similar pedigrees back three or four generations. But the most recent generations have developed differently from North America.” “We are excited to add these to our turf group that includes nine stakes winning horses we purchased recently at Tattersalls and Arqana along with our current group of turf runners.” He's also well stocked when it comes to his soon-to-be 3-year-olds “In addition, we have 27 more two-year-olds turning three that people don't even know about.” But it is in the turf division that he believes will prove most successful. “I told everyone I was going to dominate the turf,” Stewart said, “For those talking about me and Resolute, I will let the horses do the talking for me on the track.” As for pedigrees360.com, Stewart described it as an Australian pedigree research site. “It was formed from the founders of Goldmine and uses next generation AI and machine learning,” he said. “I am going to expand it into a full suite of services for owners, breeders and horseplayers. The technology has been a major factor in the data analysis that has enabled Resolute Bloodstock to have the tremendous success we have had purchasing horses of racing age and evaluating horses at auction. Once I validated the technology behind the system I targeted it for acquisition, the current pedigrees360 management team and employees will continue to operate the site for existing customers. I will be investing significant working capital into the future of the business. I believe harnessing the current generation of technology will enable incremental benefits for horse owners, breeders and horseplayers.” The post “I Am Going to Dominate the Turf”- John Stewart Goes on Christmas Buying Spree appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
