Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 4, 2020 Journalists Share Posted September 4, 2020 Shedaresthedevil (f, 3, Daredevil-Starship Warspeed, by Congrats) led home a one-two finish for her exported sire in the GI Kentucky Oaks with the more-fancied Swiss Skydiver (Daredevil) chasing her to the wire and pacesetting favorite Gamine (Into Mischief) tiring to third. Sent off at 15-1, Shedaresthedevil sat just off Gamine who looked to be travelling easily through an opening quarter in :23.39. Swiss Skydiver was in tight behind the top two and attempted to sneak through along the rail as the half went up in :47.92, but Gamine responsed with a spurt of speed into the far turn. Gamine hit the top of the stretch in front, but began drifting out and carried Shedaresthedevil and Swiss Skydiver wider. With a furlong to run, Gamine capitulated and Shedaresthedevil strode to the lead, outkicking Swiss Skydiver to win by 1 1/2 lengths. Shedaresthedevil, purchased for $280,000 at last year’s Keeneland November sale, won the GIII Honeybee S. in March. She was a front-running six-length winner of an optional claimer under the Twin Spires June 5 and took the July 8 GIII Indiana Oaks by five lengths last time out. Lifetime Record: 19-5-2-2.
