Well-related filly Hindaam (NZ) (Savabeel) bolstered her residual value for owners Shadwell Stud when winning the Listed Twilight Glow Stakes (1400m) at Sandown on Saturday.

The Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes-trained three-year-old came with a well-timed run under Daniel Stackhouse to come from the rear of the field and defeat La Mexicana and Star Of Uma.

“She looked the winner a long way from home,” Hayes said.

“It was really exciting to be able to get some black-type in the family. She’s well-related, being out of a sister to Merchant Navy and it’s a very big result.”

Hindaam has now won three of her five starts and continues her upward trajectory after a strong win at Bendigo a fortnight ago.

“She’s done really well from her last win,” Hayes said.

“Riding her quiet like that is the key to her. It unlocks that good turn of foot she has at the end of her races.

“Stacky (Daniel Stackhouse) has got a good affiliation with her and rode her beautifully.”

With a black-type victory now on her CV, Hindaam will go for a spell before being brought back for the autumn.

Winning Jockey Daniel Stackhouse was taken by the victory.

“We’ve always had a big opinion of her,” the Kiwi expat said.

“She’s a bit ‘conceding’ because she jumps so well from the gates and then you’ve got to get her back. Once you get her back she drops the bridle really nicely. She’s got an explosive turn-of-foot.

“I think she’s got a lot more to offer. A bit more time under her belt and I definitely think she’ll measure up.”

Hindaam was bred by Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge and is the 105th stakes winner for Waikato Stud stallion Savabeel.

Her dam Bayrock is a sister to multiple Group One winner and sire Merchant Navy, in addition to Group Two winner Jolie Bay, with both out of the stakes-winning Snippets mare Legally Bay.
