The Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) Board today announced the appointment of Stuart Laing as the Chief Executive Officer.

GRV Board Chair, Peita Duncan, said Mr Laing’s appointment followed an extensive executive search.

“Stuart has been GRV’s Acting CEO for the past eight months and brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the position,” she said.

“He has been with GRV since 2014 and has worked in the Australian racing industry for more than 40 years in senior positions in commercial, wagering, marketing, club management and regional development.

“He is the ideal person to lead us into our new growth period to secure the future of the industry for decades to come.

“Under Stuart’s leadership, GRV will remain focussed on our core priorities in maintaining and strengthening our greyhound welfare, rehoming and integrity programs.

“Our five-year Infrastructure Plan is one of our biggest investments in the industry we have ever undertaken. It will allow us to optimise racing safety and ensure clubs have the best racing facilities for the future for participants, greyhounds, and customers”, said Ms Duncan.

Mr Laing said he looked forward to working with the Board, GRV employees, clubs, partners and participants in continuing to build the long-term future of the code.

“I am excited by the opportunity to continue to build on our reputation as a world’s best racing code and I look forward to assisting the Board in taking greyhound racing to the next level, kicking off with our Dreamchasers Festival in November”, said Mr Laing.
