The Listed Winter Cup (2400m) is the feature event, and we should be racing on a perfect Good 4 surface with a favourable forecast heading into the weekend. The rail is out +6m from the 1500m to winning post and +5m the remainder of the circuit. Winter Cup Best Bet: Spirit Ridge Spirit Ridge did enough upon resumption and goes on top for us in Saturday’s 2400m Winter Cup. This eight-year-old gelding made his return from a three-month spell and found the line nicely over 2000m at Rosehill in the Listed Lord Mayor’s Cup on May 20. He got further back than we anticipated but still showed plenty of tenacity chasing home Bois D’argent, finishing 2.2 lengths away in sixth position. Getting to the 2400m second-up into the preparation is ideal for this son of Nathaniel, and with a firm surface predicted, Spirit Ridge should get every chance to find the line best. Sam Clipperton takes the reins this time, and given the apparent lack of speed in this race, it wouldn’t shock to see him cross to the rail from barrier seven and take up the running. We hope that’s the option he takes, because Spirit Ridge will be very hard to chase down. Winter Cup Tip Race 6 – #2 Spirit Ridge (7) 8yo Gelding | T: Annabel Neasham | J: Sam Clipperton (58.5kg) $6 with Palmerbet Best Bet at Rosehill: Tutta La Vita Tutta La Vita debuted at Canterbury on May 24 and was unfortunate to miss out on a maiden victory after getting back over the unsuitable 1100m journey. She showed plenty of class, however, to knuckle down to the task and find the minor money. She’s by The Autumn Sun, so the 1300m on Saturday should lead to major improvement, and with a perfect barrier to stalk the leaders, we’d be surprised if she wasn’t closing hard on her rivals again. Dylan Gibbons gets 1.5kg off her back, so with a valuable weight swing on her opposition, we’ll be looking for Tutta La Vita to storm over the top of them late. Best Bet Race 1 – #8 Tutta La Vita (1) 2yo Filly | T: Chris Waller | J: Dylan Gibbons (a1.5kg) (55.5kg) $2.30 with Unibet Next Best at Rosehill: Space Tracker Space Tracker is a European import first-up for the Annabel Neasham barn, and we’re confident he can make a big impression on Australian debut. He’s had six starts overseas with three of them resulting in victories, while his only failures have come on wet surfaces at the end of his campaign. He’s set to resume after a 224-day spell, but we aren’t concerned with the layoff as he comes here with two outstanding barrier trials under his belt – particularly his latest jump-out on May 26 at Warwick Farm. It was a soft hit-out resulting in a winning effort, and he looks primed for a genuine tilt at a first-up win for the new yard. Jett Stanley rode Space Tracker in his trackwork and gets the mount on Saturday, utilising his 3kg claim to get him down to 58.5kg in BM72 company. He looks brilliantly placed, and at a cracking price with online bookmakers, we’re willing to take the risk. Next Best Race 4 – #1 Space Tracker (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Annabel Neasham | J: Jett Stanley (a3kg) (61.5kg) $6.50 with Betfair Best Value at Rosehill: Cythera In the closer, Cythera is second-up for Chris Waller following a nice effort north of the border at Doomben on May 13. It’s the first time this filly by I Am Invincible has found benchmark company, always racing Listed and Group quality throughout her short career, and while she takes on the older horses for the second time, we think she’s up to the task. She’s drawn awkwardly in gate 12, so it’s bound to be a tricky assignment for jockey Dylan Gibbons, but if he can find a mid-field spot with cover, Cythera will eat up the 1200m at the end. She’s been missed in the market and will give followers a great each-way shout to end the day.
