  2. Even after he broke both his legs!
  3. I've already stated that. However she ran the slowest first 200m. OP could have got handier.
  4. The second horse will improve. He can run a good sectional.
  5. Nup. Two or three very good horses in that race who will prove themselves in OZ in the autumn.

  9. Thomaas even your guru doesn't offer any help with the Blinkers on or off! "The addition of blinkers can often help a horse become more focused, show greater early speed and settle closer in the run." Bit vague and some horses actually do the opposite! But once again even the guru nor you can predict BEFORE the race if blinkers are on will they have the desired effect that the trainer wants even though we don't know what the trainer wants! "Blinkers off can have the opposite effect. This gear change is also often a sign that the trainer wants the horse to relax more in the run, which can lead to a more conservative ride." Ditto comment as above. How do we know BEFORE the race what the desired effect is? Wouldn't the blinkers off a field shy horse make it relax less?
  10. In four years Equity has dropped from $70m to $25m. Probably to fund stakes which despite a drop of $9m in profit have been maintained at the previous years level. Again ANOTHER increase in Operating expenses - now 41% of total income!!!! NET LOSS after distributions has gone from -$16m to -$28m in one year! With only $25m left in equity that suggests unless there is a radical shift upwards in revenue then they will need to put out the begging bowl. From all accounts this years revenue is down not up!
  11. I agree. Ran home in 32! Can get out of tight situations without losing momentum - need to be able to do that in OZ. Seems to be mentally tough too.
  12. Here is the annual report: NZRB1845_Annual_Report_2019_FINAL5.pdf
  13. Oh dear now I understand where Thomaas gets his dumb theories from and I thought they were developed by him. The latest article is just opinion underpinned by dubious stats. BTW I didn't have a private school education but was educated by Teachers who used old methods and focussed on literacy and numeracy. Seems Thomaas missed most of his classes.
  14. Rule Number(s): 870 (3)Mr Munro lodged a Protest against the fourth placed MIGHT BE ME under r 870 (3) alleging that the horse galloped in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres. Mr Beck appeared for the connections of the horse. (Feed generated with FetchRSS)View the full article
  15. Rule Number(s): Careless drivingMr Alford was charged with a breach of r 869 (3) (b), in that he allowed his horse HELD TO RANSOM to strike the sulky wheel of SCHNITZEL VON KRUMM causing his horse to break and lose its chances. Mr Alford admitted the charge. Miss Haley stated that HELD TO RANSOM was positioned four-back on the pole ... (Feed generated with FetchRSS)View the full article
  16. Won't happen.
  17. You are full of shyte Downes.
  18. Case in point. R4 Te Aroha Siracusa no closer than 3 wide the entire trip. Bolts in with no blinkers.
  19. That's why betting on race on Melbourne Cup Day presents lots of value. You have every Ma and Pa Kettle backing numbers, the letter M, the colours and the names not to mention all of Thomaas's Blueprint followers! What Thomaas fails to understand is he constantly talks about individuals and their relative performances to themselves. Never it seems in relation to price or relative to the ability of the rest of the field!! Seems a losing formula in the long run to me. As I've said before if he is indeed successful on the punt then he must evaluate a field and the value BEFORE applying all the BS like blinkers, first time, dropping back in class (the horse doesn't know anything about class) etc. However he will never admit that he uses such techniques.
  20. I prefer them to be wide but with a trail or a drag into the race when needed. I changed my mind about three wide nonsense when I saw three harness horses sit three abreast for the entire race and the horse that was three wide the whole way won. It was the better horse! Only noses in it though. You only have to look at the performance of Te Akau Shark in the Epsom wide but with a TRAIL most of the journey and still kept kicking. OP in my opinion and I'm only a lounge jockey could have spent a little bit more early and got closer.

  23. Can you cut down the personal insults Thomaas? In my opinion Mardigras is far from being an idiot. "Especially in Group racing where the pace is USUALLY on in big fields" More often than not it is the complete opposite especially in NZ. The Melbourne Cup - Grp 1, big field of 24 and ZERO pace. "There was no issue with going to the rail as he simply popped off it when he wanted." Perhaps popping off the rail cost him a length or failing to improve his position cost another length or three. It wasn't a confident ride in my opinion. However beaten by a much better horse on the day. "The fact was drawing a better marble would have allowed Opee a closer slot...and the overarching fact is that most races are won by those handy to the action." This statement isn't "fact" it is "FICTION". The statistics do not support your theory at all. Actually they don't support any of your theories. However back to Melody Belle - she ran the fastest sectionals of the day BUT she did draw next to Hartnell. One went forward one went back. Her first 200m was the slowest split of the whole race. She only needed to run half a second quicker over that 200m to be right behind Hartnell.
  24. Rule Number(s): 869(4)(6)(b)(c)Following the running of Race 1 an Information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mrs C Tibbs alleging a breach of Rule 869 (4)(6)(b)(c) by Amateur Driver Mr R Reekie. The Information stated that “R Reekie (DONEGAL CARRICKFIN) forced RAINY RIVER wider on the track near the 1600m”. Mr Reekie had signed ... (Feed generated with FetchRSS)View the full article
