  1. Sectionals for the four heats of the St Leger last Thursday night. St Leger Sectionals - 31 Jan 2019.xlsx
  2. Ahh, my apologies for being behind the times. I must admit my enjoyment of racing increased exponentially when I got out of club administration and governance ?
  3. The interesting point for me is the land grab. Pretty much every club constitution will have a clause about what happens to the club's assets if the club is wound up - generally, they are to be used in the local community etc I suppose a lawyer would point out that the club is not actually winding up - it's clear they think that clubs will continue but my experience with clubs is that if they tried this approach, any goodwill will be shot. It's literally a form of nationalisation of assets.

Here's just a couple of links https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11425504 https://www.nzherald.co.nz/rotorua-daily-post/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503438&objectid=11236942 It's not scientific but on the basis of the above 1000s of dogs are euthanised each and every year. Using the logic the anti greys brigade apply, people should be banned from having domestic dogs due to the number of dogs put down

I think people who be stunned if they knew the numbers of dogs were regularly put down in the pounds. And that's the number of reported. I think we have to be careful not to underplay the sentiment and as always put a positive focus on animal welfare but there has to be some valid comparisons for the public to get a balanced perspective.
  6. I feel your pain. Every punter has their own story. The other day I had set up an EW bet on a dog I liked paying $11, got distracted, and closed the window because I knew I had already taken the bet. Except I hadn't ... you know the rest. Makes you wonder whether there's a website concept in "Infinite Ways To Lose on the Punt" ? I hope you are enjoying watching the racing more these days too.
  7. Opening and closing sectionals from the Futurity heats are attached. I should have a little more time in a week or two to put them up on the ratings site but in the mean time, they're attached. Futurity sectionals - heats 4 May 2018.xlsx

  8. Cheers for that. A bit of confusion on my behalf - the sectionals I think would be best suited to the formline rather than the on screen graphics. I think it would be used more by the pro end of the punters but still is extremely valuable data.
  9. There is no speed map data provided to the TAB for first starters. It's a little broader than that too - there's no data for dogs having their first NZ start. We looked at the option of using qual/trial data but it's not consistently available or reliable. If you check out the TAB app which is effectively the authoritative data within the TAB system, first starters are given no value. So any value given to first starters is either a default or the decision of the presentation team. To be fair, in most cases first starters are in C0 and there is generally a lot less races analysed and perhaps a lot more inconsistency. We would love to see sectionals part of the form line too - that's an ongoing discussion and interestingly is something that is relevant across all three codes.
  10. It's a good point and an example of the value of the sectionals in throwing up info like this. DG certainly improved from the heats but based on the sectionals from the heats and the final, his closing sectional is by far his weakest. So it does make you wonder if he got a worse draw or an impeded start whether it makes him vulnerable to a backmarker/swooper. That said, he's won four from four in NZ and it's hard to do better than that and to be fair I tend to have a sweet spot for front runners from a punting pov.
  11. Thanks YK. I was happy to provide info on TOS (the other site) but for some reason my attempts to provide freebies or info was considered advertising. I thought that was short sighted ... it simply meant the members missed out but as they said, their site, they can do what they like. And they did.
  12. Sectionals from the Wanganui Distance on Friday night. As Roso commented, by the time the dogs entered the closing sectional, the race was already over. NO.
