Hi Kakama. I was sent a snapchat of your comment this afternoon and then followed it up myself.
To be clear, I broke this story on Tuesday, and everything I have said then and since has been largely/fully accurate. I have generally been first with every major update since including the arrests on Tuesday when the Police denied it.
As the week wore on, the 'chinese whispers' started and many rumours started to gather momentum.
I was duty-bound to follow most of them up and was able to dispel or at least 'half-truth' most/all of them.
Yesterday (Friday) from 9am in the morning until I tweeted mid-afternoon, I had at least 35 people contact me to say person X had been arrested.
On top of that, I noted it was posted on this website, another one and a prominent Facebook page in a post started by a licensed trainer.
It took on a life of its own and I did what I thought was the prudent thing was... use my position to assert the rumours were false.
As you will now be aware, they were. It was unfair to the person concerned, and their workmates who were also being named and implicated, to have them going around at the level they were without anyone nipping them in the bud.
So, I view this as me doing the exact opposite to what you suggested. That is, being the only person willing to address what EVERYONE was talking about and applying some well-place information.
Finally, I will say this. Keep an eye on my account as I have another significant story on this matter to break shortly.
Thanks and regards,
Garrick
