What Cowra Races Where Cowra Jockey Club – Grenfell Rd, Cowra NSW 2793 When Sunday, January 19, 2025 First Race 1:20pm AEDT Visit Dabble The Cowra Jockey Club is the destination for country racing on Sunday afternoon, with a competitive eight-part program lined up for Cowra Japan Cup (1200m) Day. The rail is in the true position the entire circuit, and with no significant rainfall predicted to hit the course proper, punters can expect a genuine Good 4 surface. All the action for 2025 Cowra Japan Cup Day is set to get underway at 1:20pm local time. Cowra Japan Cup Tip: Outback Angel Outback Angel is flying this preparation, securing two wins and another minor placing in her four starts. The daughter of Super One was tested in metro company for the first time in her most recent outing, closing to within a length of Manuscript at Canterbury on New Year’s Day. She was a dominant winner prior to that effort, and provided she can hold her form in the Cowra Japan Cup, Outback Angel must be considered the one to beat. Cowra Japan Cup Race 7 – #4 Outback Angel (6) 4yo Mare | T: Allan McRae | J: TBC (55kg) +300 with Neds Best Bet at Cowra: Ghielmi The Mitchell Beer-trained Ghielmi looks prepared to strike on debut, surging through the wire in a recent barrier trial victory at Nowra on September 23. The Toronado gelding went on to score by four lengths on that occasion, and although his most recent trial on a Heavy surface at Kembla Grange left a lot to be desired, it’s worth forgiving on such testing conditions. Getting back on top of the ground should be ideal, and with Nick Heywood set to gain an economical run from stall six, Ghielmi should have no issues justifying the short price with horse racing bookmakers. Best Bet Race 2 – #5 Ghielmi (6) 3yo Gelding | T: Mitchell Beer | J: Nick Heywood (57.5kg) +140 with BlondeBet Next Best at Cowra: Victory Roll Victory Roll got a pass mark returning in the Moruya Cup on January 6 and was always going to find the 1425m short of his best trip. The son of Belardo looked to be gone in the final 400m before picking himself off the canvas, doing his best work late to get within six lengths of Charlemagne who was already off-and-gone with the prize. He may be better with sting out of the ground considering he’s yet to figure on a Good surface; however, with a class edge on his rivals, expect Victory Roll to be right in this when the whips are cracking. Next Best Race 3 – #3 Victory Roll (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Pat Murphy | J: Shaun Guymer (59.5kg) +200 with Picklebet Sunday quaddie tips for Cowra Cowra quadrella selections January 19, 2025 1-2-6-8-9 2-3-4-7 4-6-10 1-4-5-6 | Copy this bet straight to your betslip Horse racing tips View the full article

Promising three-year-old Leica Lucy (NZ) (Derryn) added another important black-type victory to her burgeoning record when she dashed clear to take out Saturday’s Gr.3 New Zealand Bloodstock Desert Gold Stakes (1600m) at Trentham. The lightly raced daughter of Derryn was sent out a raging hot favourite ($1.40) after taking out the Gr.3 Eulogy Stakes (1600m) at the venue prior to Christmas and never really gave her supporters any cause for concern despite having to bullock her way into a narrow gap halfway down the home straight. Rider Craig Grylls had allowed the filly to settle back in the field and didn’t appear to be perturbed by runners swooping around his outer approaching the home turn as he began to bring her into contention. Grylls spied an opening three off the fence at the 250m and Leica Lucy burst through with a turn of foot that carried her two lengths clear before holding out the fast-finishing Connello (NZ) (Time Test) comfortably at the winning post. While trainer Robbie Patterson was quietly confident she would perform to expectations before she headed to the start, rider Craig Grylls had a few last-minute doubts behind the barriers as the field loaded up. “I got a good run but before the race she was really worked up,” Grylls said. “The other day she was a bit of a lamb, so I was a little bit worried, but as soon as she came out (of the starting gates) she dropped the bit and relaxed nicely. “I got her buzzed up turning in and although I didn’t have a lot of options, good horses get you out of trouble. When the gap opened up, she did the rest. “She has a ton of improvement in her as Robbie said there is still a lot of water to go under the bridge, so she will tighten up and is very exciting.” Patterson was lavish in his praise for the performance, although he admitted to having some trepidation watching his charge search for a clear path in the straight. “It was tough watching her get held up, but when she got clear she went bang, which is the sign of a good horse,” he said. “I was concerned as she was above herself and I hadn’t done a lot with her as I know how long the season is, but I’ve had some good horses and this one could be the best I’ve had. “If you go too hard too early it all falls apart, and I want to win the Oaks again as I think I have the right horse for it. “I won the race with Legs when I was in partnership with Kevin Gray, and I think this one might even be a little better than her.” The $1 million Gr.1 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai New Zealand Oaks (2400m) is the feature event at the Trentham meeting on 22 March. The Desert Gold Stakes was the seventh event in the prestigious New Zealand Bloodstock Filly Of The Year series which is currently led by Alabama Lass (Alabama Express) (21 points) with Leica Lucy now moving into third place on 12 points with four events left including the New Zealand Oaks as the series finale. Leica Lucy is bred and raced by Taranaki racing identities Peter and Heather Crofskey who are no strangers to winning big races having also bred and raced 2013 Gr.1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) winner Habibi (NZ) (Ekraar). Leica Lucy has now won three of her four starts and just under $195,000 in prizemoney. View the full article

In-form mare Marble Arch narrowly prevailed in Saturday’s TAB We’re On (1600m) at Flemington, with the daughter of Per Incanto recording her third victory of the preparation. The five-year-old was well-ridden by apprentice Jaylah Kennedy, who showed good initive to push forward and sit outside the leader after it became apparent the small field was devoid of tempo. With a weight advantage, the Ben, Will and JD Hayes-trained mare narrowly defeated Wings Of Song and Munhamek in a time of 1:39.89. “Jaylah tried to take a sit early but then she made the right decision and rolled forward. It ended up being a slowly run race and a sprint home,” Ben Hayes said. “Luckily, with the light weight, she was tough and she has been like that the last couple of runs, she has been really tough every time. And Jaylah has got a great record on her now. Full credit to the horse and Jaylah.” Runner-up in the Listed Lord Stakes (1600m) two starts back, Hayes was non-committal on another black-type assignment this campaign. “We will see how she pulls up, she has been up a long time,” he said. “She has done a great job this preparation already. She is black-type placed and there are lots of nice options coming up. We will probably look to keep her either at 1400m or a mile again.” Kennedy’s two-kilo claim was an assist and the apprentice rider had full confidence in Marble Arch’s turn of foot. “She was really well placed with the lightweight and she’s most definitely up to stakes-class this mare,” Kennedy said. “Drawing (barrier) six of six, I wasn’t too happy about it but if there was going to be good speed I would have been happy to take a sit. “She was a little bit awkward away but she was really good into stride. I took my time to get outside the leader and I knew I was on the right horse. “She is probably better being ridden a bit further back and chasing something down but today she was just too good.” A daughter of Little Avondale Stud’s outstanding sire Per Incanto, Marble Arch was purchased privately by the Lindsay Park team after finishing third at Wanganui in her only start in New Zealand for trainer Wayne Marshment. Bred by Goodwood Stud, Marble Arch is out of the four-win Sakhee’s Secret mare Jonquil and stems from the family of Group One winners Atishu and Daffodil. The now five-year-old mare was initially sold as a weanling for just $3,100 via gavelhouse.com. Saturday’s victory was Marble Arch’s eighth career win from 20 starts, with a further four placings, as she advanced her career earnings to A$570,546. Per Incanto is represented by 29 yearlings at the forthcoming New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sales which commence on January 26. View the full article

A decade after winning his hometown Cup with Maygrove (Authorized), prominent Wellington owner Lib Petagna was back in the spotlight again on Trentham’s biggest day of the year on Saturday. Petagna’s JML Bloodstock colours were carried to victory by emerging three-year-old Ballon d’Or (NZ) (U S Navy Flag), who upstaged a highly rated line-up in the Harcourts (1200m) on the Wellington Cup undercard. The countdown to Saturday’s three-year-old sprint was dominated by Komocean (NZ) (Ocean Park), who had made a big impression winning both of her first two starts including a two-length defeat of Ballon d’Or over the same course and distance on December 21. But the tables were emphatically turned in Saturday’s rematch. While $2.10 favourite Komocean set herself a daunting task with a costly slow start, Ballon d’Or and jockey Rory Hutchings took up an ideal position in third behind Keret (NZ) (Darci Brahma)i and Stone The Crows (NZ) (Charm Spirit). Hutchings slid through along the inside in Kereti’s slipstream as the field came across the junction on to the course proper. Kereti found another kick at the 250m mark and took some catching, but Ballon d’Or warmed into his work and strode past that rival in the closing stages to win by three-quarters of a length. Albarossa (Vino Rosso) finished third, two and a half lengths behind the first pair. “They don’t come much easier than that,” said Hutchings, who completed an early double on Wellington Cup Day when he won the next race on the card with Slipper Island. “Ballon d’Or has been very consistent and deserved to get a good win down here today. “I felt we were always in control of the race. Coming on to the course proper, I knew that he was ready to let go. He just doesn’t like to be in front for too long, so I had to time it right. I left it as late as I could before going for the whip, and there was an instant response when I did.” Ballon d’Or is by The Oaks Stud stallion U S Navy Flag out of the Irish-bred Fastnet Rock mare Ireland’s Teardrop. Herself a winner over 2500m, Ireland’s Teardrop is the dam of five winners including the Gr.3 Taranaki 2YO Classic (1200m) and Listed Wellesley Stakes (1000m) placegetter Last Sight (NZ) (Showcasing). Bred by the late Kevin Hickman, Ballon d’Or was offered by Valachi Downs at the 2022 National Weanling Sale at Karaka and was bought for $50,000 by Petagna’s bloodstock agent Bruce Perry. Ballon d’Or has had 10 starts for two wins, five placings and $77,205 in stakes. His placings include highly creditable efforts behind the likes of NZB Kiwi (1500m) contender Sought After (NZ) (Tivaci) and Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m) placegetter Domain Ace (NZ) (Swiss Ace). Ballon d’Or is trained by the Matamata father-son team of Peter and Shaun McKay, who have now had seven winning raids on Trentham during their three seasons in partnership. “That was a good win today, although it didn’t exactly go to plan,” Shaun McKay said. “I told Rory before the race that we might hopefully end up just behind the favourite, but we ended up flying the gates while she missed it. “Rory gave him a gun ride and got him to settle well. He can ease up a little bit when he hits the front, but luckily the leader gave him something to chase for quite a long way. “He’s slowly learning and I think he’ll get better and better. I’m not sure where he’ll get to distance-wise. We thought he might be a mile-plus type of horse, but he’s shown good ability down the chute today. Maybe we’ll keep him to 1200m to 1400m. But he’s got another win on the board now and is progressing well. “I really like the stallion, U S Navy Flag. He hasn’t quite had a big horse or Group One winner yet, but I’m sure it’ll come.” View the full article

Craig Williams has 123 Hong Kong wins. Photo: HKJC A long-time ally of David Hayes in Australia, Craig Williams hopes to upstage the dual Hong Kong champion trainer’s outstanding sprinter Ka Ying Rising at Sha Tin on Sunday when he rides Magic Control in the HK$13 million Group 1 Centenary Sprint Cup (1200m). Williams, 47, combined with Hayes to land a string of Group 1 races in Australia, where he is revered for his feat in landing the nation’s racing ‘Grand Slam’ with victories in the Melbourne Cup (3200m), Caulfield Cup (2400m), Cox Plate (2040m) and Golden Slipper (1200m). With 123 victories in Hong Kong, including the 2011 Group 1 Hong Kong Vase (2400m) on French stayer Dunaden, Williams is hoping to add to the tally this weekend with eight rides, including Chater Gold and Aurio for Hayes. But his primary focus is Magic Control’s tilt at Sha Tin track record-holder Ka Ying Rising, who is chasing a second Group 1 and bidding to extend his current unbeaten streak to nine races after triumph in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) last month. “He (Ka Ying Rising) looks very good and David knows what a good sprinter is,” said Williams, who partnered top Hayes-trained horses such as Miss Finland, Fields Of Omagh, Criterion, Vega Magic and Niconero. “He (Ka Ying Rising) won an international sprint race and that’s a targeted race and the talk was he should have won by more – but he won. That’s how good he is. “People were complaining that he didn’t win by far enough. But that shows you how much they think of this horse, that’s how impressive he is.” Williams rides Magic Control for the first time and is familiar with the former Australian speedster’s form in Melbourne, where he won the Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley and the Listed Poseidon Stakes (1100m) in 2023 when trained by Matt Laurie. “I know in Hong Kong he (Magic Control) hasn’t gone out beyond 1000 metres, but in Australia he won two Stakes races, including one at 1200m, so that gives me confidence,” Williams said. “His trainer Cody Mo is going really well, he’s having a great season, especially recently and he’s obviously gaining a really good handle on this horse, but it’s not going to be a walk in the park. “It’s far from that when you’ve got a horse that won one of the world’s biggest international sprint races and he lines up on Sunday.” Apart from Ka Ying Rising, Magic Control will face Victor The Winner, Helios Express, Howdeepisyourlove, Invincible Sage, Lucky With You and Beauty Waves. Multiple graded winners Newgrange (Violence) and Skippylongstocking (Exaggerator) each recorded their final works Friday in preparation for the 1 1/8-mile, $3-million, Jan. 25 GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park. Newgrange, who was previously trained by Phil D'Amato and is now in the barn of Jose D'Angelo, breezed five furlongs in 1:01 at Palm Meadows. After winning the GII San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita last January, Newgrange hasn't raced since July. The five-time graded-winning millionaire's first Florida work came Jan. 8 at Palm Meadows, when he went a half-mile in :47. “He arrived to the barn in December,” said D'Angelo. “He got a little sick so that's why I had to wait a little bit to work the first time for us. The [last] workout was in company and was pretty good [with a] nice gallop out, so that's why today we worked him five furlongs just trying to get a little air for the race. He worked good. He started strong and closed, so that's what we were looking for today.” Seven-time graded winner Skippylongstocking also worked at Palm Meadows Friday, getting four furlongs in :49.35. His last start was a sixth in the GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, a race in which he finished third in 2023. Trained by Saffie Joseph, Jr., Skippylongstocking will be making his third straight start in the Pegasus. What Stewards’ Cup Day 2025 Where Sha Tin Racecourse – Tai Po Rd, Sha Tin District, Hong Kong When Sunday, January 19, 2025 First Race 12:30pm HKT (3:30pm AEDT) Visit Dabble Group 1 action returns to Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday afternoon, with the Group 1 Stewards’ Cup (1600m) and Group 1 Centenary Sprint Cup (1200m) headlining a bumper 11-race program. The rail is in the A position throughout the entire circuit, and with no rainfall expected in the region, punters can expect pristine Good 4 conditions as we edge closer into the evening. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 12:30pm HKT. Stewards’ Cup Tip: Galaxy Patch After a luckless performance in the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile (1600m) on December 8, Galaxy Patch gets his chance at redemption in the 2025 Stewards’ Cup. He got caught up in traffic at a crucial stage in his latest outing, only getting through his gears in the final furlong, while Voyage Bubble stayed out of trouble to boot clear by 1.3 lengths. Gate three should allow the newly appointed Blake Shinn to take much closer order this time around, and with the best turn-of-foot in this race, Galaxy Patch only needs to be within striking distance to claim his maiden Group 1 success. Stewards’ Cup Race 8 – #5 Galaxy Patch (3) 5yo Gelding | T: Pierre Ng | J: Blake Shinn (57kg) Bet with Neds Centenary Sprint Cup Tip: Ka Ying Rising Although the half-length victory of Ka Ying Rising in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) doesn’t jump off the page, it was hard not to be impressed by his willingness to find the line. He kept surging under Zac Purton, with the son of Shamexpress fighting off a smart one in the form of Helios Express after doing a mountain of work in the middle stages. Expect Purton to be positive from the wide draw (8) and attempt to lead; however, if Magic Control or Victor The Winner want to press on with the job, Ka Ying Rising will have no issues stalking his rivals before exploding to claim back-to-back Group 1 victories. Centenary Sprint Cup Race 6 – #1 Ka Ying Rising (8) 4yo Gelding | T: David Hayes | J: Zac Purton (57kg) Bet with BlondeBet Best Bet at Sha Tin: Light Years Charm Light Years Charm appears set to peak heading into his third Hong Kong start after an eye-catching performance at this course and distance on January 5. The son of Rubick was forced to make inroads from the rear of the field on that occasion after being dragged back from gate 11, storming through the line as one of the widest gallopers turning for home. Zac Purton gets legged aboard for the first time, and with barrier one allowing him to take closer order, expect Light Years Charm to justify the short price with horse racing bookmakers. Best Bet Race 7 – #9 Light Years Charm (1) 4yo Gelding | T: David Eustace | J: Zac Purton (55kg) Bet with Picklebet Next Best at Sha Tin: Shamus Storm The David Hayes-trained Shamus Storm caught the eye debuting at this track and trip on December 29 and was clearly the best of the beaten brigade behind Endeared. He sat on the three-wide line with cover throughout first-up before powering down the centre of the course, only to find one better as the quinella pair pressed clear of their respective rivals. Andrea Atzeni should land near the one-one from stall three, and a repeat performance second-up should have Shamus Storm figuring in the finish once again. Next Best Race 5 – #6 Shamus Storm (3) 3yo Gelding | T: David Hayes | J: Andrea Atzeni (58kg) Bet with Dabble Best Value at Sha Tin: New Forest Formerly trained by Sara Ryan in Australia, New Forest gets set to make his Hong Kong debut for the Mark Newnham barn. The Justify gelding appears to have acclimatized well to his new surroundings, claiming victory in a recent barrier trial at Conghua on January 6 to build confidence heading into this first-up assignment. Lyle Hewitson takes the reins and will be looking to make every post a winner, and provided he can steal a moderate sectional in the middle stages, watch for New Forest to give a bold sight at the each-way price with Boombet. Best Value Race 9 – #10 New Forest (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Mark Newnham | J: Lyle Hewitson (54kg) Bet with Boombet Sunday quaddie tips for Sha Tin Sha Tin quadrella selections January 19, 2025 5-8 1-3-4-8-9-10-12 2-3-6-11-12 1-3-4-5-12-14 Horse racing tips View the full article

BRILLANTE (FR) (f, 3, Persian King {Ire}–Baga {Fr}, by No Nay Never) made her American debut Friday after a pair of starts as a 2-year-old in her native France. Privately purchased and imported to the Chad Brown barn late last year, the 7-5 favorite spotted the field a step at the break and raced near the back of the field behind Mona L (Caravaggio) who set an opening half tempo of :48.33. Staying wide throughout, Brillante put in a bid around the far turn, picked up steady position into the lane and surged to the front at the eighth pole to graduate nicely by 4 1/4 lengths ahead of Mona L. From Persian King's first crop, Brillante is her dam's youngest reported offspring. Sales History: €30,000 Ylg '23 ARAV2. Lifetime Record: 3-1-1-0, $23,539. Built (Hard Spun), a 6 3/4-length, front-running winner over Magnitude (Not This Time) in the Gun Runner Stakes Dec. 21, has been tabbed as the 3-1 morning-line favorite for Saturday's GIII Lecomte Stakes at Fair Grounds. The Lecomte offers 42 points (20-10-6-4-2) on the road to the GI Kentucky Derby. The Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners colorbearer was able to dictate the pace through easy fractions of :24 3/5 and :49 1/5 and drew off impressively to earn a field-best 92 Beyer Speed Figure while facing just four rivals that day. Built drew post 13 for the Lecomte, and figures to face a much different pace scenario this time around. “If it was the Kentucky Derby, we'd be happy with that post,” trainer Wayne Catalano said. “We got a couple of easy breezes in just to keep him happy and get a little air in his lungs. We've got him fit and ready. The horse is training great. Licking his feed tub and training great. We're very happy with him.” The unbeaten Juddmonte homebred Disco Time (Not This Time) is likely to vie for favoritism after posting a pair of impressive victories at Churchill Downs, including an optional claimer going a one-turn mile Nov. 30. He makes his two-turn debut for trainer Brad Cox. Golden Afternoon (Goldencents) is an interesting wildcard. He made all three of his previous career starts on turf, including a runner-up finish in last year's GII Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland. The Lecomte program also prominently features the GIII Louisiana Stakes and Fasig-Tipton Silverbulletday Stakes, which offers 42 qualifying points (20-10-6-4-2) toward the GI Kentucky Oaks. Stephen Doody likes the idea of being back in the big time. And in Doo You Want Me he just might have the horse to take him there again. The big son of Captain Crunch has only just turned three but scored his first win away from home (Manawatu) when he came from a tricky position to win the strongest pacing race at Cambridge on Friday night. It was win number four, all in a row, from just eight starts for Doo You Want Me and he is clearly the real deal. After taking a while to learn his craft he won twice in lower grades at Palmerston North before his arrival moment came when beating some serious older horses like Rough And Ready, Beta Prepare and Warloch in the Palmerstonian last month, no small feat for a two-year-old. He showed that increased tractability again when coming from three back on the inner to win a heat of the Provincial Pace Series on Friday night and will return to Cambridge for the $35,000 final next Friday. Then Doody will start planning to get Doo You Want Me to Alexandra Park in March with the Northern Derby his first black type test. That is the plan,” says Doody. “It would be nice to have a Group 1 pacing horse again, I think the last one I had good enough to race in those races up there was Te Kawau.” Before that of course Doody was the man who put the early touches on 1990s heroine Blossom Lady and then Mister DG while he has had open class trotters like Braig, who won 18 races. Getting a serious Derby-type horse is not easy and it will not be an easy path to trod if last season’s star juvenile Marketplace comes back to his best. But Doody, who trains a team of 11 from his Manawatu base these days, says Doo You Want Me is likely to be hanging around. “The guys who own him paid something like $35,000 for him after he had been passed in at the yearling sales down south. “They have had some good offers for him but they are enjoying him and I think they will be keeping him.” Doody still does the majority of his training from home and brings the horses north each time, although Doo You Want Me will spend a few days with Mike Berger looking after him while Doody pops back down south for the Kapiti Coast meeting. Another horse already having tested her toe in the big time but likely to head back there was Friday night’s other major race winner One More Moment. The Zev Meredith-trained mare capped a magic five weeks by winning the $50,000 Dunstan Horsefeeds Breeders Stakes in a stirring battle with the equally in-form Belle Neige. The two have both excelled over the the last month and with the open class ranks small on numbers a mare like One More Moment wouldn’t look out of place in a Rowe Cup in the autumn if she keeps improving. by Michael Guerin There may have been stranger debut victories than Manakau Blaze’s stunner at Blenheim on Friday. You will be hard pressed to find them. The seven-year-old trotting mare was having her first career start and went into it without a trial in eight months. Yet she won by a staggering 15 and a half lengths from trainer-driver Barry Ford, who just to add to the fun hadn’t driven a winner for four years and only three in the last 10 years. And yet this trainer-driver who rarely trains or drives and his mare who had never been to the races recorded one of the easiest wins in recent New Zealand harness racing history. Which raises the questions: How? Who? Why? “It is a funny story,” says Ford, who as you can probably guess also bred and owns Manakau Blaze. “She has always had ability and is a half sister to our good horse, Doctor Bones, who won nine races and ran second in the Jewels. “But every time I have taken her to the trials she has been lame afterwards. “It is nothing serious, nothing to do with ligaments or bone damage, so we think it is is in feet. “I got to the stage we even considered retiring her before we raced her but we have changed her work and now she pretty much just trots on he lead behind the other horses.” Believing in his breed and his mare Ford, whose age is an undisclosed number between 70 and 80, decided the best way to stop Manakau Blaze from getting tender after a trial was to just not trial. “So we found this race on the grass which we thought would help and just set her for this. “I was a bit worried when she drew barrier 1 because that can be hard for them in their first start.” Ford didn’t need to worry. His seven-year-old sweetheart was soon in front and a long way from home only she or trailer Go Home Denise could win but Denise rolled into a gallop when challenging at the 200m and Manakau Blaze raced clear to win by the massive margin. “It was a pretty fun ride,” smiles Ford. It was his 22nd career training win dating back to 1990 and his 14th in the sulky but if Manakau Blaze is proof of anything it is that Ford is a patient man. “So we won’t be backing her up on Sunday,” he told HRNZ. “She can get over this and there is a fillies and mares trot at Amberley [Rangiora, Feb 6] coming up she can have a go at.” That is only three weeks away, nothing when you have waited years for the moment Manakau Blaze and Barry Ford shared trotting down the Blenheim straight on Friday. By the way there were 11 other winners at Blenheim on Friday, all with their own stories. But Friday belonged to Barry and Blaze. View the full article
