  2. Winning Supreme has turned his form around in a big way since January and the Me Tsui Yu-sak-trained sprinter gets a great chance at some silverware on Monday in the Hong Kong Lions Cup (1,200m) at Sha Tin. The five-year-old took a bit of time and racing to acclimatise to Hong Kong, finishing well back at his first eight appearances with an eighth placing the highlight run. Things looked far from promising at that stage but, if punters think back to last season, Tsui managed to do something... View the full article
  3. Vincent Ho Chak-yiu will be hoping to avoid the road blocks he ran into aboard Vital Spring last start on what looms as an interesting day in the saddle at Sha Tin for the local rider. Ho’s rides include two highly credentialed imports, two winning hopes he describes as “hard work” to ride, but it is Vital Spring he ranks as his best chance in the Class Four Kalanchoe Handicap (1,400m). “He has drawn well and is a great chance, as long as we don’t get boxed in and... 4. The Jockey Club’s big race recruitment team will wait for the dust to settle to see if Godolphin’s World Cup night heroes will come to Hong Kong but the global racing giant’s Japanese arm has confirmed that Fine Needle will contest the Group One Chairman’s Sprint Prize. The local stars shone brightest on Godolphin’s biggest night as the boys in blue captured four of the five Group Ones, including two to horses with Hong Kong feature race plans. Al Quoz winner... 13. It took some reassuring words from jockey Christophe Lemaire but trainer Yasutoshi Ikee believes Satono Diamond is over last year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe thrashing and ready to regain his spark in the Group One Osaka Hai at Hanshin. A Derby runner-up, Japanese St Leger winner and Arima Kinen winner at three, Satono Diamond went to France at four with the usual hype that surrounds a Japanese-trained Arc hopeful. Unfortunately he met the same fate as all that have gone before him... View the full article
  14. Top South African trainer Mike de Kock is hoping strong Dubai World Cup night performances by Janoobi and Al Sahem can convince connections to come to Sha Tin and it isn’t just the Champions Day features he is aiming at. The trainer’s Dubai Turf entry Janoobi holds an entry for the Group One Champions Mile on April 29 but perhaps of more interest is that a big run in the Dubai Gold Cup could result in Al Sahem contesting the Standard Chartered Champions & Chater Cup on May 28.... 24. Harmony Hero looked one of the best things beaten all season first-up but the Richard Gibson-trained import will have to deal with another awkward draw on Monday at Sha Tin. Some impressive Australian form and three classy trials saw Harmony Hero sent out 2.5 favourite over 1,200m on March 11 but everything went wrong from the outset. Harmony Hero was one of the slowest away but Tommy Berry pushed forward anyway and soon ended up three wide with no cover in a race run at solid early clip. As a... View the full article
  25. The Me Tsui Yu-sak-trained Dazzle Winner did not bring much prior form to Happy Valley on Wednesday night but he left the track with his name in plenty of black books. Despite not looking hopeless in one or two early trials, Dazzle Winner was completely outrun in his first six starts, beating home a total of seven rivals but five of those in his first race. Tsui only tried him at distances as far as 1,400m, but his breeding certainly indicated that he would be needing further than that if he... View the full article
