  1. Can someone please tell me what the Clegg Hammer reading on the synthetic is?Cambridge a 72. Awapuni a 60 and Ricc didn’t appear to have one.
  2. Does Omoto not have any irrigation? Firm 2 for a few days now. Temps in the 20s. Will they still be on tomorrow if it is a 1? The news tonight said a possible shower tomorrow. If there is no irrigation are they following NZTR guidelines by producing a 2? Unfortunately looking like small fields.
  3. Todays stipe report Following issues with horses losing their footing jumping out of the barriers at Wednesday’s meeting further work had been carried out on the start areas in an attempt to rectify the problem. Race 1 STOP YELLING (L Callaway) - Blundered at the start. Lay out rounding the bend. DRAKE BAY (L Sutherland) - Slow to begin. MDNIGHT JANE (M Taylor) - Lost its footing leaving the barriers. Raced three wide without cover throughout. SEVEN TWENTY (J Parr) - Lost its footing and began awkwardly losing ground. O’JUDE (K Asano) - Restrained behind runners to obtain cover shortly after the start. DORINGO (T Moseley) - Dipped shortly after the start briefly unbalancing its rider.
  4. The irrigation possibly did have something to do with it although there were some slipping on the Saturday. Of course the irrigation had to be applied especially when Josh Parr was on t.v commenting on the firm Saturday track and how he felt his horses weren’t able to let down on it.
  5. There seem to be an awful lot of horses slipping as they leave the gates. According to the stipes report today, 15 blundered at the start and 9 began awkwardly. On Sat, 6 blundered at the start and 17 began awkwardly. It would be annoying for connections to travel from the N.I only to lose your chance at the start.
  6. R3 at Ashburton. The jockey fell off Tadita before the line when looking the winner. The tab paid out all fixed odds bets as if she had won. Is this normal?
  7. At Ashburton Friday there was a dead heat for first. Irish Girl and Louie Louie both got $3650 for their win. They were both on 63 points and went up to 67. Compare this with Hastings where Rum received $16200 and went from 63 to 68 and Riccarton where the winner got $12150 and also went to 67. What is the point of industry days if they all get the same rating? And with all the talk being about all weather tracks, will the ratings still be the same for a win? Yes the handicapper has been spoken to and he said the horses couldn’t remain in 65.
  8. I manage a couple of horses which were racing at the start of the month. One ran 2nd and the other was scratched. I have just received the statements for the month and NZTR have deducted the scratching fee and a start that was owing for the scratched horse from the stakemoney for the one that ran 2nd. They have completely different owners so how does that work?
  9. The open 1800 35k on the 9th Jan at Riccarton dropped with 6 noms. 22nd Feb 72 2000 at Riccarton dropped before noms out with 3. 6th March at Riccarton 2000. Dropped before noms out with 5 yet they held the 72 1200 open with 4 nominations. Who makes these decisions and surely at some stage they are obligated to hold one of these races. Pretty annoying to own a horse that doesn’t get to race unless you are prepared to go to Dunedin or further down South.
