  1. Dear Mr Clarke. I enjoy reading your posts at times and can see your point of views. But for me I sometimes think you still look at it as an amateur sport. It is no longer and amateur sport. We all know that Mr And Mrs Cole have some things they have to deal with in the future but that's for other threads. I think you have missed the boat here. Racing is a business for some now not just for the old boys club drinking beer and catching up on a Sunday. There was an opportunity for someone in the central districts to take control of the big pool of money that was on offer and Mr Cole and Mr Rendle seen an opportunity. Everybody else got left behind. They invested money in facilities and breeding and now they are cashing in. I look at it like big stores mitre 10 mega and the warehouse. They out sized everybody and it made things hard for the small business owners. The smaller business owner had to adapt to keep up or get pushed out. It's the same in the greyhound racing in the CD. No one has challenged them so now they take the dominant piece of the pie. One or two litters a year from the rest of the trainers in the CD ain't going to compete against 25 plus quality litters a season from a big business. Other trainers will win races if there dogs can compete time wise. The industry has changed and the trainers must too. It's no longer a hobbie for some. Its life and when you get to that point in your dog training carrier Mr cole and Mr Rendle are who you need to compete against and beat. So I agree in that things need to change. But not how you see it. Like in sport and life. Being bigger faster stronger smarter is key. Its 2020 now not 1985. Fast dogs always beat slow ones 9 times out of 10.
  2. Who's not to say the athlete hadnt torn a hamstring two years ago and was feeling tight and sore in it after the race but had just won the gold medal and had obligations saying he had to talk to the media. Dogs have won races and torn a gracilis during it. That all depends on the grade of the tear. Not every tear is a complete rip of the muscle. Some can be very small but still causes bleeding within the muscle itself which causes bruising and swelling under the skin. I can see your point in what your saying about the dog and the gracilis. It didn't effect its performance. But what I've been saying is that rules are rules and he got of on a technicality of those rules. Sometimes the rule helps a trainer and dog and sometimes it doesnt
  3. Yankiwi and aquaman thank you for your insights. What I picked up in that is that aquaman is a former or current greyhound trainer. I view a greyhound as an athlete. They are dogs that are expected to perform at there best physical ability when required by there trainer. As like a human athlete the rigors of competition or training can put strain stress on muscles etc. To be able to recheck a dog if you believe it is injury free after a vet has inforced a stand down to that dog is something I believe to be fair to do as that not all muscle soreness is an injury. For example yankiwi. Today you might walk into the side of a table and bang your thigh. You may have a limp for a few hours. If you where a greyhound and got sent to the vet straight away and he pushed on it you wouldn't be happy. But tomorrow you touch you leg and it's only tender and the following day it's all good. So you don't have an injury you just have a sore point on your body. So in my view it's not a corruption or integrity by a vet it's a person making an on the spot decision with the evidence they have in front of them. So why cant a trainer get a decision over turned and race there dog the following week or less? Do you agree aquaman.
  4. My question is to yankiwi. I like the fact I have no idea who you are. You may be a trainer or a trainers wife or husband or just a lover of the sport we call greyhound racing. But I'd like to ask you something. If you were the trainer of dyna diode would have you excepted the vets decision of 28 days+ or would have you knocked on the door of the stipes office and said I do not except what the vet has said and i will represent my dog in the following days to another vet. I think deep down you would except the decision and say phew got away with that one. What I believe has happened is that the dog would have most likely had an old tear or hole in the gracilis muscle from a previous injury. Which after cooling down was touch sore. A vet can only examine what is in front of him or her. They have no record or knowledge of previous injuries to a dog. So in his overview to what's in front of them dyna diode has a gracilis tear. Yes the dog was naughty that is clear to see but sometimes in life the rules can give you a get out of free jail card. So I'm interested in what you would have done if you were the trainer. Just remember the riu have rules too and the vet is a trained professional and there opinion can't be over ruled by someone who isnt. The stipes no it ftp but they are governed by rules also just like you and i.
