Dear Mr Clarke. I enjoy reading your posts at times and can see your point of views. But for me I sometimes think you still look at it as an amateur sport. It is no longer and amateur sport. We all know that Mr And Mrs Cole have some things they have to deal with in the future but that's for other threads. I think you have missed the boat here. Racing is a business for some now not just for the old boys club drinking beer and catching up on a Sunday. There was an opportunity for someone in the central districts to take control of the big pool of money that was on offer and Mr Cole and Mr Rendle seen an opportunity. Everybody else got left behind. They invested money in facilities and breeding and now they are cashing in. I look at it like big stores mitre 10 mega and the warehouse. They out sized everybody and it made things hard for the small business owners. The smaller business owner had to adapt to keep up or get pushed out. It's the same in the greyhound racing in the CD. No one has challenged them so now they take the dominant piece of the pie. One or two litters a year from the rest of the trainers in the CD ain't going to compete against 25 plus quality litters a season from a big business. Other trainers will win races if there dogs can compete time wise. The industry has changed and the trainers must too. It's no longer a hobbie for some. Its life and when you get to that point in your dog training carrier Mr cole and Mr Rendle are who you need to compete against and beat. So I agree in that things need to change. But not how you see it. Like in sport and life. Being bigger faster stronger smarter is key. Its 2020 now not 1985. Fast dogs always beat slow ones 9 times out of 10.
