Interesting discussion. I was at Murwillumbah one day and it was announced on course that xyz (a well favoured runner but no recent form) was going to change tactics and race on the pace today. Jumped a bit tardy and jockey got it up to one one position beautifully behind a good pace, challenged in the straight and won well. There was a stewards instituted enquire ffs before correct weight, because the prearranged tactics change didn’t eventuate!

Could not believe that the result was in question, but then also did not know about “the rule” either. Surely the circumstances on Saturday will have NZTR reviewing/removing that rule - hats off to the stripes for a common sense outcome in this case.

Wandered over to Bundall Magic Millions sales complex today for a quick look at the broodmares being sold. There is some serious money being spent here suggesting the top level players have plenty of confidence in the industry in Aussie. Many maiden mares (at least one raced as recently as yesterday at Grafton) were being sold for heaps more than they have won in a racing career on the track. Some were ex Kiwis (a couple of Go Racing runners got huge money imo). Good luck to them, I just have trouble understanding how many of them can be “good buying”.

I got $20 on my 2nd dig - to my great surprise. Nice.
