Racing returns to the synthetic track at Ballarat on Tuesday afternoon for a competitive seven-race program kicking off at 1:30pm. A perfect winter’s day is forecast, which should mean every runner will get their chance if they’re good enough.

Best Bet at Ballarat: Beldivian

In the closer, the Don Dwyer-trained Beldivian will be looking to break a winless drought that stretches over two years. In recent times, the five-year-old gelding has found a new lease on life on synthetic surfaces, placing in all three of his runs on the Pakenham all-weather track. He is a genuine backmarker, which tends to bring him undone in races, but with plenty of speed engaged in this 1000m scamper, it looks perfectly set up for Beldivian to unleash down the heart of the track and blouse the leaders.

Best Bet

Race 7 – Silks#6 Beldivian (4)

5yo Gelding | T: Don Dwyer | J: Dylan Turner (58.5kg)

$5 with PlayUp

Next Best at Ballarat: Mattei

The Mitch Freedman-trained Mattei found one better at Warrnambool on July 31, and from what we have seen so far, he should be breaking his maiden on Tuesday. The four-year-old gelding was luckless on debut and backed it up with a narrow runner-up performance at his next start. Tahlia Hope will look to hold a prominent position from barrier two, and outside of any bad luck, Mattei should prove too good for maiden company at start three.

Next Best

Race 3 – Silks#3 Mattei (2)

4yo Gelding | T: Mitch Freedman | J: Tahlia Hope (59.5kg)

$2.10 with Boombet

Best Value at Ballarat: Dreamnt Enough

Despite struggling in BM58 grade at the Ballarat synthetic 1400m, a return to the 1200m should see Dreamnt Enough return to the winner’s stall. The five-year-old mare broke her maiden at the track and trip two starts back when leading throughout. The daughter of Rich Enuff is set to gain an uncontested lead in this, and if Hannah Edgley can get away with a cheap sectional or two, Dreamnt Enough should prove too hard to gun down.

Best Value

Race 2 – Silks#5 Dreamnt Enough (4)

5yo Mare | T: John & Chris Ledger | J: Hannah Edgley (57.5kg)

$12 with Bet365
