Visit Ladbrokes

Belmont Park will play host to another metropolitan meeting this Saturday afternoon, with a very competitive nine-race card set down for decision. After the Perth area received a lot of rain earlier in the week, we expect the track to stay in the Heavy range for the whole program. The rail will go back into the true position for the entire circuit, with the action set to kick off at 11:59am AWST.

Best Bet at Belmont – Starry Heights

Starry Heights recorded back-to-back wins at the Belmont 1600m on August 5 and will be seeking a hat-trick on Saturday when he takes on a RTG 66+ Handicap. This Grant & Alana Williams-trained gelding is in career-best form this preparation and with William Pike retaining the ride, we expect him to perform at his very best once again. Last start this son of Star Turn settled mid-field before pulling out wide on the home turn and running over the top of the leaders late. On that day it was advantageous to be on-speed, so with him running on down the outside, it makes his win even more impressive. With a similar performance this weekend, we should see Starry Heights bring up the hattrick.

Best Bet

Race 5 – Silk #7 Starry Heights (5)

4yo Gelding | T: Grant & Alana Williams | J: William Pike (56.5kg)

$2.10 with PlayUp

Next Best at Belmont – Aztec Ruler

The Stefan Vahala-trained Aztec Ruler was another runner who made up a stack of ground on the leader biased Belmont track on August 5. This four-year-old gelding settled near on last before unleashing with a massive finish down the outside but didn’t get his head down in time and finished a very close second behind Zephyra over 1400m. On Saturday, this son of Universal Ruler will step up slightly in grade to a RTG 72+ Handicap and stay at 1400m. Chris Parnham will stay aboard for his fifth ride on this gelding and if he can settle closer to the speed, Aztec Ruler should be able to bring up his first win of this preparation.

Next Best

Race 7 – Silk #5 Aztec Ruler (7)

4yo Gelding | T: Stefan Vahala | J: Chris Parnham (54.5kg)

Best Value at Belmont – Enticing

Enticing from the Jim Taylor yard will be seeking his first win since September last year when he contests a One-Metro-Win Handicap over 1200m on Saturday. This six-year-old gelding has had three runs this campaign, where has been very competitive at two of those three starts. Last start this son of Headwater produced his best performance of the preparation and finished fourth over this track and distance on a Heavy track. This indicates to us that he is nearing on peak fitness and is ready to show his best next start. Jason Brown will be legged aboard again and if he can push forward and settle close to the speed, Enticing will give us a big sight at his current price of $21 with most online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 4 – Silk #6 Enticing (8)

6yo Gelding | T: Jim Taylor | J: Jason Brown (55.5kg)
