Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 20, 2023 Journalists Posted August 20, 2023 Spendthrift Farm's Tamara (f, 2, Bolt d'Oro–Beholder, by Henny Hughes) earned 'TDN Rising Star' status with a professional three-length victory in her debut at Del Mar Saturday. The 3-1 shot, bobbled slightly at the break, but rushed up along the rail to sit just off pacesetting Hope Road (Quality Road) through fractions of :22.53 and :46.11. She tipped out a path at the top of the lane and forged past Hope Road before skipping clear to the wire. It was some 10 lengths back to Desert Rhapsody (Cairo Prince) in third. The final time for the 6 1/2 furlongs was 1:17.37. Tamara is the fourth foal out of Spendthrift's champion Beholder. Her year-older half-sister Teena Ella (War Front) won the GIII Senorita S., while her year-younger half-brother by Curlin lit up the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sales ring two weeks ago when selling for $4 million to Amr Zedan. Beholder was bred back to Jackie's Warrior this year. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0. O/B-Spendthrift Farm (Ky). T-Richard Mandella.
