With the threat of Hurricane Hilary looming over Del Mar, Anisette (GB) (f, 3, Awtaad {Ire}–Tutti Frutti {GB}, by Teofilo {Ire}) unfurled a tempest of her own to blow the doors off the GI Del Mar Oaks at the seaside California oval Saturday. She trailed early as Ruby Nell (Bolt d'Oro) set fractions of :23.84 and :47.21, dove through a dream seam on the rail after the turn for home, and burst clear with a sizzling turn of foot as Umberto Rispoli peeked over his should and stood up for a fist-pumping celebration at the wire. It was her fourth consecutive win and followed a July 22 score in Del Mar's GII San Clemente S. Final time for the nine furlongs on the lawn was 1:48.15 as Be Your Best (Ire) (Muhaarar {GB}) and Impact Warrior (Ire) (Saxon Warrior {Jpn}) chased Anisette home.
