In what was officially his first career race, Alder (Hard Spun–Arbol by Elusive Quality) jetted home a winner on Sunday afternoon at Ellis Park. The Godolphin homebred looked stylish down the lane after coming from off the pace. The 2-year-old colt cruised along to win by 6 1/4 lengths over first time starter Honky Tonk Highway (City of Light). Alder was entered in a race at the Pea Patch July 15, but was declared a non-starter.

The final running time was :58.42. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0.

O/B-Godolphin LLC; T-Brad Cox.
