Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted August 23, 2023 Journalists Share Posted August 23, 2023 Tom Kitten is set to return in Saturday’s Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes. (Photo by Scott Barbour/Racing Photos) Tom Kitten is the headline act in Saturday’s Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens. A Stakes winner at two, the Godolphin three-year-old colt is set to have the first run of his spring campaign this weekend. Having claimed the Listed Fernhill Handicap, Tom Kitten went on to finish fourth in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) before heading to the paddock. Having trialled twice in the lead-up to this fresh assignment, the Harry Angel colt will be accompanied by regular jockey Nash Rawiller. As the highest-rated horse in the race, he will give his rivals at least 4kg at the weights. Despite being the class galloper in the race, online bookmakers have Tom Kitten marked as a $10 chance. Les Vampires ($4.20) will be looking to go from a midweek Warwick Farm maiden victory to a Group 3 win and will have a tactical advantage on some of his rivals as the race leader. Having caught the eye when resuming in The Rosebud (1100m), Griff steps to the 1300m having broken his maiden at 1200m back in June. The Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes is the co-feature on Saturday’s 10-race program at Rosehill, alongside the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m).
