Provincial racing makes its way to Wyong this Sunday afternoon for a competitive eight-race program. The rail is out +3m the entire circuit for the meeting, and with clear skies forecast across the weekend, we’re expecting a Good 4 surface. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 12:30pm AEST.

Best Bet: Global Empire

Global Empire has been costly for followers, being beaten with a starting-price profile of under $3 in three of his four starts this preparation, but the step up this weekend looks ideal. The son of I Am Invincible comes back in trip to the 1100m after fading last start, and with Adam Hyronimus engaged to ride, look for Global Empire to ping the lids and try to make every post a winner.

4yo Gelding | T: Joesph Pride | J: Adam Hyronimus (61kg)

$3.20 with Bet365

Next Best: Golden Passport

Golden Passport broke his maiden first-up at Muswellbrook on August 11, and despite the 0.1-length margin suggesting he scraped home, it was quite a stylish performance. He makes his way to a much tougher Class 1 affair, but we’re confident the lightly raced four-year-old is up to the task. Suraj Narredu takes the reins from barrier seven, so look for him to take a mid-field sit. Provided he finds cover, Golden Passport must be considered the one to beat.

4yo Gelding | T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott | J: Suraj Narredu (59kg)

$2.70 with Betfair

Best Value: Touch Of Navy

Touch Of Navy is a two-time winner and looks a terrific each-way bet in the penultimate race of the Wyong program. He picked up his first win for the John Bannister barn at Muswellbrook on August 11, circling a seven-horse field to score by half a length. It was a tough effort sitting three wide without cover the entire journey, and he should find a much more economical run in transit this time. There’s plenty of speed drawn inside, so look for Touch Of Navy to be bolting over the top of some tiring gallopers.

4yo Gelding | T: John Bannister | J: Emma Ly (a3kg) (61kg)
