Gunite Turns Tables on Elite Power in Forego

Gunite (c, 4, Gun Runner–Simple Surprise, by Cowboy Cal) used his early speed as a weapon and was able to turn the tables on favored champion Elite Power (Curlin) at odds of 6-5 in Saturday's GI Forego S. at Saratoga. Longshot High Oak (Gormley) was third. Elite Power defeated Gunite in dramatic fashion by a head in the GI Alfred G. Vanderbilt H. at the Spa last time out July 29. Gunite won the 2021 GI Hopeful S. at Saratoga and was also second in the GI H. Allen Jerkens Memorial S. at the Spa last year.
