For the final time this year, the synthetic course at Pakenham is set to host an eight-race program on Friday night. A clear night is forecast, so every runner should get their chance if good enough. Racing gets underway at 5:15pm AEST.

Best Bet at Pakenham: Distorted Mission

Distorted Mission has been OK in harder races than what he faces on Friday, and in Class 1 company, we expect he will prove a touch too good for this lot. The four-year-old gelding came through some strong form races last preparation, including when finishing a length off the likes of Marble Arch, Helix and Bel Air. Daniel Stackhouse will have him settled in the second half of the field, and if Distorted Mission produces his customary turn of foot, he should prove too hard to hold out.

Best Bet

Race 6 – silks#3 Distorted Mission (6)

Next Best at Pakenham: It’s My Turn

The Danny O’Brien-trained It’s My Turn has strung together consecutive wins on the Pakenham synthetic over the 1000m, and the step up to 1100m looks ideal. The four-year-old mare has settled close to the speed in both of those wins and easily accounted for her rivals in 0-58 grade and then in BM58 company. The step up to BM64 should be no issue, and from barrier three, he will look to either take up the running or settle outside the leader. With a repeat of recent efforts, It’s My Turn will be hard to beat in the quaddie opener.

Next Best

Race 5 – silks#2 It’s My Turn (3)

4yo Mare | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Fred Kersley (60kg)

Next Best Again at Pakenham: Tymon

Tymon from the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr barn will be looking to bounce back from an indifferent showing first-up on the Pakenham synthetic 1200m. The three-year-old gelding made up good ground inside the final furlong to suggest he is worth following as he steps up to the 1400m. In his initial campaign, Tymon chased home the likes of Shesallshenanigans and Butch Cassidy and was far from disgraced. If Tymon brings that type of form second-up, he should be breaking maiden ranks at start four.

Next Best Again

Race 1 – silks#7 Tymon (7)

3yo Gelding | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr | J: Beau Mertens (58kg)
