Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 7, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 7, 2023 What Darwin Races Where Fannie Bay Racecourse – Dick Ward Dr, Fannie Bay NT 0820 When Saturday, September 9 First Race 2:56pm ACST Visit Ladbrokes The five-race card at Darwin this Saturday has drawn some decent fields, with 51 runners accepting. It hasn’t rained since April 27 and there is only a five per cent chance it will this weekend. In general, it will be sunny, with light winds and a top temperature of 35C. The rail will be in the true position and Fannie Bay will again be a good surface. BEST BET: LORD FENRIR Lord Fenrir is yet to win a race after two career starts, but he gets the perfect opportunity this weekend. The four-year-old gelding was no match for Starspangledancer when finishing four lengths adrift in second place in an 1100m maiden at Fannie Bay on July 29 before going down narrowly at the hands of Hello Hollywood in a 1000m maiden at Katherine on August 19 as the $1.75 favourite with online bookmakers. The son of Hellbent is the one to beat and will most likely start as the favourite, so hopefully he’ll have his mind on the job. Best Bet Race 1 – #3 Lord Fenrir (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Phil Cole | J: Wayne Davis (59kg) Bet with Bet365 NEXT BEST: JUST STROLLING This guy brought decent form to the NT from NSW and was impressive en route to victory by 2.3 lengths on his Fannie Bay debut over 1100m on Darwin Cup Day. The five-year-old gelding jumps from a wider gate on this occasion but will carry the same weight, and despite stepping up in grade, he certainly caught the eye a month ago. The son of Exceed And Excel boasts four wins and three seconds from 18 starts, with wins at Gunnedah (1000m), Scone (1100m) and Inverell (1050m). Next Best Race 3 – #2 Just Strolling (9) 5yo Gelding | T: Peter Stennett | J: Adam Nicholls (59kg) Bet with Ladbrokes BEST VALUE: PATRIOTIC KING The son of Starspangledbanner had 13 starts in Victoria, Queensland and NSW for one win over 1000m in a Sunshine Coast maiden in March last year. The five-year-old gelding finished third over 1115m at Grafton in April before a sixth over 1000m, a fifth over 1100m and a fifth over 1100m in the Top End following his arrival in June. Since then, it has been back-to-back thirds over 1200m on July 29 and August 7 to suggest that Patriotic King is improving. Best Value Race 4 – #5 Patriotic King (1) 5yo Gelding | T: Gary Clarke | J: Jarrod Todd (59kg) Bet with PlayUp Darwin Saturday quaddie tips – September 9, 2023 Darwin quadrella selections Saturday, September 9, 2023 2-3-4 1-2-4-8 3-5 1-3-4 | Copy this bet straight to your betslip More horse racing tips View the full article
