Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 9, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 9, 2023 What Dubbo Races Where Dubbo Turf Club – Merrilea Rd, Dubbo NSW 2830 When Sunday, September 10, 2023 First Race 1:17pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Country racing heads to Dubbo Turf Club on Sunday afternoon with eight races set for decision. The $100,000 Dubbo Gold Cup is the feature event which will grant the top-two finishers with eligibility for The Big Dance on the first Tuesday of November. The rail is in the true position throughout the circuit, and with little-to-no rain expected to hit the course across the weekend, we should be racing on a Good 4 surface. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 1:17pm AEST. Dubbo Gold Cup Top Tip: Chicago Bear Chicago Bear was finally able to break his Australian maiden since arriving to the Tent Busuttin & Natalie Young barn and looks perfectly placed to make it back-to-back wins on Sunday afternoon. They took the son of Siyouni to Morphettville on July 29 and managed to pick-up the victory in dominant fashion, going on to score by 1.5 lengths in BM76 company. He finds a much tougher task here in open grade; however, gets in well at the weights with 56.5kgs on his back. Add in the services of Aaron Bullock to the equation, and we think that’s a recipe for Chicago Bear to win again. Dubbo Gold Cup Race 7 – #2 Chicago Bear (7) 5yo Gelding | T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young | J: Aaron Bullock (56.5kg) +500 with Dabble Best Bet at Dubbo: Talbragar Talbragar is one of the classiest horses on the Dubbo program and looks extremely hard to beat in the sprinting feature. The Cody Morgan-trained gelding finished his campaign with an electrifying second-place finish in the Country Championship at Randwick on April 1, and is now primed to return after 162 days off the scene. He’s only had one tick-over trial heading into Sunday; however, he was ridden with intent and seemed to be a solid hit-out for the lightly raced six-year-old. Aaron Bullock has a perfect record on Talbragar and only bad luck should see that record change. Best Bet Race 4 – #2 Talbragar (5) 6yo Gelding | T: Cody Morgan | J: Aaron Bullock (61kg) -133.33 with Neds Next Best at Dubbo: Rolled Gold Formerly trained in Western Australia by Darren McAuliffe, Rolled Gold made his debut for the Paul Clisby barn at Narromine on August 20 and produced a stunning effort over an unsuitable trip. He was first-up after 179-day spell and stormed down the middle of the track on that occasion, only being beaten by a length on the winning post. The extra 100m will be ideal for this gelding by Universal Ruler, and with a barrier (6) to sit much closer in transit, Rolled Gold will be launching late again. Next Best Race 5 – #2 Rolled Gold (6) 5yo Gelding | T: Paul Clisby | J: Jake Barrett (a1.5) (59kg) +500 with Unibet Best Value at Dubbo: Cosmic Lad Our best each-way bet of the program is Cosmic Lad set to make his race-day debut for trainer Edward Cummings. His barrier trials haven’t set the world on fire; however, his latest jump-out on the synthetic surface at Warwick Farm on August 31 did leave an impression the three-year-old is worth following – particularly at the price with online bookmakers. Zac Lloyd takes the reins after steering him home in a previous barrier trial, and if that’s a vote of confidence from the leading hoop, we’ll be happy to follow the lead on Cosmic Lad. Best Value Race 3 – #7 Cosmic Lad (7) 3yo Gelding | T: Edward Cummings | J: Zac Lloyd (56.5kg) +1100 with Palmerbet Sunday quaddie tips for Dubbo Dubbo quadrella selections Sunday, September 10, 2023 1-2-3 1-2-4-5-6 2-4-7-13 1-3-5-8-12 Investment: $375 for 100% More racing tips View the full article
