For the third Wednesday in a row, racing heads to the Hillside track at Sandown – this time for a stacked nine-race card. A perfect day is forecast, and despite the rail coming out 13m the entire track, the expected Good 4 surface should play fairly. The action commences at 12:25pm AEST.

Best Bet at Sandown: Aperitivo

Last-start Cranbourne winner Aperitivo comes to Sandown looking to bring up a second-straight win. Having been given a gun run in transit last time out over 1400m, the Tivaci mare chased the hardest late and managed to get the better of subsequent Sale winner Think Winning. She should gain another economical run in transit from barrier six, and as long as she gets clear air at the right time, Aperitivo should be winning again.

Best Bet

Race 3 – silks#6 Aperitivo (6)

4yo Mare | T: Ben, Will & JD Hayes | J: Daniel Stackhouse (57kg)

Next Best at Sandown: Extratwo

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Extratwo has been in a rich vein of form this campaign and can bring up a third win from five starts this time in. The Toronado mare got the better of Jennipending on August 16, with that runner coming out and winning at Sandown on September 6. She retains the services of Mark Zahra and, from barrier eight, can lob either on the bunny or just outside the lead. With a love for firmer decks and being up on speed, Extratwo has conditions to suit and can win again.

Next Best

Race 4 – silks#5 Extratwo (8)

4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Mark Zahra (60kg)

+300 with Boombet

Best Value at Sandown: Cattrall

We will be looking to kick off the day in style as the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Cattrall returns from a spell. The three-year-old filly was competitive in some hot races as a juvenile, including when chasing home Group 1 fancies Legacies, Autumn Angel and Nodachi on debut at Cranbourne. At her second start, she made up plenty of ground when thundering home late over 1400m. She returns at the 1300m, and if Cattrall can replicate that finishing burst, she will take some beating.

Best Value

Race 1 – silks#2 Cattrall (10)

3yo Filly | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Mark Zahra (57kg)

+650 with Neds
