Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 12, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 12, 2023 What Happy Valley Races Where Happy Valley Racecourse – Wong Nai Chung Rd, Happy Valley, Hong Kong When Wednesday, September 13, 2023 First Race 7:10pm HKT (9:10pm AEST) Visit Ladbrokes This Wednesday night, Hong Kong racing heads to Happy Valley for the first time this season for a stacked eight-race program under lights. The city circuit will have the rail in the A position, and similarly to Sha Tin on Sunday, the track will likely be yielding due to rain in the region this week. The first race of the evening is scheduled to get underway at 7:10pm HKT (9:10pm AEST). Best Bet: Denfield Denfield couldn’t have been more impressive when winning at Happy Valley on June 28 and will be very hard to beat on resumption. The Danny Shum-trained gelding powered through the line to score a dominant 2.8-length victory and has since maintained his fitness with a quality barrier trial during the break. Karis Teetan takes the reins from barrier three, and provided Denfield can utilise the draw to sit one-back on the rail, the four-year-old will be very hard to hold out once clear in the straight. Best Bet Race 3 – #1 Denfield (3) 4yo Gelding | T: Danny Shum | J: Karis Teetan (61kg) Bet with Ladbrokes Next Best: Hameron Hameron had a terrific Hong Kong campaign last season after arriving from Australia, finding the minor placings twice before the preparation culminated in victory at Happy Valley on July 12. He held off the fast-finishing Zone D on that occasion after being exposed early in the straight, showing plenty of promise moving into the new season. There’s a stack of speed drawn in this 1650m contest, which should allow jockey Luke Ferraris to take a mid-field sit before unleashing Hameron down the centre of the track. Next Best Race 5 – #2 Hameron (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Francis Lui | J: Luke Ferraris (61kg) Bet with Bet365 Next Best Again: Reward Smile Reward Smile didn’t miss the frame in five starts after making his way to Hong Kong last season. The three-year-old gelding won in stylish fashion at the end of last preparation and only gets a 1kg weight penalty for his trouble, so the son of Havana Grey is well weighted for this 1200m contest. Luke Currie gets the assignment this time for the John Size yard, and if Reward Smile can find cover throughout the journey, he should show his quality late to score back-to-back wins. Next Best Again Race 8 – #1 Reward Smile (7) 3yo Gelding | T: John Size | J: Luke Currie (61kg) +200 with Bet365 Hong Kong quaddie tips for Happy Valley races Happy Valley quadrella selections Wednesday, September 13, 2023 1-2-3-4 1-2-4-6-9 1-2-5-6-9 1-4-5-7 | Copy this bet straight to your betslip More horse racing tips View the full article
