Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 18, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 18, 2023 What Sandown Hillside Races Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171 When Wednesday, September 20, 2023 First Race 1pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes For a fourth-straight week, the Hillside track at Sandown is the destination for midweek metropolitan racing in Victoria. An eight-race card is programmed for this Wednesday afternoon on a track rated a Good 4, with the rail returning to the true position throughout. The action gets underway at 1pm AEST. Best Bet at Sandown: Poison Chalice Poison Chalice is making his way through the grades nicely and despite needing to lug 61.5kg on Wednesday, looks impossible to go past. The four-year-old gelding has shown a tremendous turn of foot at both of his wins this campaign and as long as the big weight on Wednesday doesn’t slow him down, it should be more than good enough to account for his rivals in this BM64 affair, with bigger targets surely in store for him if successful. Best Bet Race 4 – #1 Poison Chalice (5) 4yo Gelding | T: Paul Preusker | J: Declan Bates (61.5kg) Bet with PendleburyBet Next Best at Sandown: Glitzing Glitzing has won three of her past two starts and strikes a winnable BM70 for her first voyage into town. The four-year-old mare produced a strong turn of foot to score at Geelong on September 9 and a similar effort should see her salute at Sandown. She retains the services of the in-form Damian Lane and with tactical versatility on her side, Glitzing can offset the wide barrier by either going forward or taking a sit midfield as she has done at her last two starts. Glitzing looks a great bet in the second leg of the quaddie. Next Best Race 6 – #6 Glitzing (10) 4yo Mare | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Damian Lane (60kg) Bet with Boombet Next Best Again at Sandown: Cattrall Denis Pagan’s Georgie Get Mad has been knocking on the door this campaign without much success, but Wednesday looks her day to bring up an overdue win. With a couple of smart performances at Caulfield to begin his campaign, the four-year-old found one better at the Sandown 1800m on September 13 and looks primed to go one better on the quick backup. He gets the blinkers for the first time and from barrier seven, if he can find the one-one spot, Georgie Get Mad should be overpowering the leaders late and have enough in hand to fend off his rivals.
