Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 20, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 20, 2023 What Ballarat races Where Ballarat Turf Club – 240 Kennedys Rd, Miners Rest VIC 3352 When Friday, September 22, 2023 First Race 1:30pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes Friday horse racing in Victoria heads to the Ballarat Turf Club with an eight-race program set down for decision. The $100,000 Gold Nugget is the feature event of the day and has attracted a strong field of 13. The track has come up a Good 4, with the rail in the true position the entire circuit. The action from Ballarat commences at 1:30pm AEST. Gold Nugget Top Tip: Russian Roni Russian Roni has been a touch disappointing this campaign, but third-up from a spell has struck quite a winnable race. The four-year-old gelding can hold a prominent position from barrier four, if not lead the field up over the 1600m. He gets blinkers back on for this assignment and looks primed to bring up a third win from three runs when third-up into a campaign. Winona Costin can pinch a cheap sectional or two with an uncontested lead expected, and if Russian Roni is anywhere near his best, his rivals will not be able to catch him. Gold Nugget Race 7 – #12 Russian Roni (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott | J: Winona Costin (54kg) Bet with Dabble Best Bet at Ballarat: Porter The Danny O’Brien-trained Porter was a touch disappointing first-up at Sandown, but he can bounce back in style on Friday. Having struggled in tougher company over 1500m, he looks set to appreciate the step up to 2000m this time around. He will be given every opportunity to see out the trip from barrier one under Damian Lane. With an economical run in transit, and being bred to set out the trip, we expect Porter to break his maiden with eyes on a Victoria Derby tilt. Best Bet Race 1 – #13 Porter (1) 3yo Gelding | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Damian Lane (57kg) Bet with PlayUp Next Best at Ballarat: Etienne Having returned a winner at Morphettville on August 26, Etienne can bring up a third-straight win on Friday. Having gone to the paddock a winner, the four-year-old gelding managed to lead throughout on the Parks track and put two lengths on his rivals in arrogant style. The Capitalist gelding gains the services of Blake Shinn for this, and if the pair can land outside the lead from barrier 11, Ettiene should be able to account for his rivals in the opening leg of the quaddie. Next Best Race 5 – #2 Etienne (11) 4yo Gelding | T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young | J: Blake Shinn (60.5kg) Bet with Boombet Best Value at Ballarat: Justadeel The Mike Moroney-trained Justadeel was badly held up for a run on debut at Geelong when it mattered most. The three-year-old gelding hit the line nicely over 1200m, and despite staying at the trip, we think he can strike here. With a bit of speed in the race, it looks perfectly set up for Blake Shinn to take a sit just off the speed and have Justadeel swooping on some potentially vulnerable leaders. Best Value Race 3 – #10 Justadeel (2) 3yo Gelding | T: Mike Moroney | J: Blake Shinn (57kg) Bet with Bet365 Friday quaddie tips for Ballarat races Ballarat quadrella selections Friday, September 22, 2023 2-7 1-5-8-11 1-2-4-12 3-4-10-11 Investment: $128 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
