Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 20, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 20, 2023 Veight is the market fancy for the Caulfield Guineas Prelude this Saturday. (Picture: Pat Scala/Racing Photos) The Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) for the three-year-old colts and geldings is set to be run and won this Saturday at Caulfield. The traditional lead-up for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m), which is set to take place on October 14, will provide a much clearer picture for futures punters. A total of 13 runners have accepted for the race, and Steparty has opened as a clear favourite with online bookmakers at +180 as he looks to make it five wins on the trot. Veight (+340) has drawn well in barrier two as he continues to build on his first-up victory in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m). McNeil Stakes 2023 – Veight – T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy Meanwhile, the extra 200m should suit the likes of Scheelite (+850) and Little Brose (+1500) as they look to turn the tables on Veight. The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Scentify chased home gamely behind Steparty in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley, and online betting sites have him well in the market at +550. Outside of those at single figures, you’ll be given a terrific each-way price for the likes of Sydney pair Ducasse (+1600) and Chrysaor (+4000), who were far from disgraced in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) and Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) respectively. The 2023 Caulfield Guineas Prelude kicks off the quaddie at Caulfield on Saturday and is scheduled to get underway at 3:40pm AEST.
