Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 24, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 24, 2023 Talented three-year-old Wolfy winning at Flemington on Sunday. Photo: Bruno Cannatelli In Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, Wolfy showcased his continued progress by triumphing over a competitive field of three-year-olds in a 1420m race at Flemington. The talented colt, trained by Nick Ryan, had previously secured a maiden victory at Sale, and he displayed his winning form once again. Jockey Blake Shinn, who regularly partners with Wolfy, wisely positioned the colt at the rear of the field, patiently observing the race’s developments. As they entered the straight, Shinn guided Wolfy wide, and the colt unleashed an impressive burst of speed to secure the victory comfortably. “We knew he was going to be back in the last three or four and come on strongl,” said Ryan. He’s certainly got a lot of ability, and this is his first preparation, so there is a lot of improvement to come.” Regarding the future plans for Wolfy, Ryan mentioned that he would take some time to assess his recent performance before making a decision. There are potential options, including a shot at the prestigious Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) or allowing the colt more time to develop and considering autumn racing opportunities. “He still wants to wander around a bit and is learning, so it is exciting. “The autumn would really be his time, so maybe the Australian Guineas (Group 1, 1600m) in March could be his race.” More horse racing news View the full article
