What Dubbo Races
Where Dubbo Turf Club – Merrilea Rd, Dubbo NSW 2830
When Friday, September 29, 2023
First Race 1pm AEST

Visit Dabble

Country racing heads to Dubbo on Friday afternoon for a massive eight-race programme. The rail is out +3m from the 1000m-400m and then sits true for the remainder. The surface should be a Good 4, with sunny skies predicted in the lead-up, and the opening event is scheduled for 1pm AEST.

Best Bet: Ms Reeves

Ms Reeves has been transferred from the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott barn across to Garry Lunn and will make her debut on Friday at Dubbo. The four-year-old has only had one jump-out since arriving on the new team and it was a lovely piece of work, finishing second over 1000m at this course on September 19. Jockey Ronald Simpson sat quietly on the daughter of Cable Bay, and if that trial is any indication of how she’ll perform on race-day, Ms Reeves will be competitive.

Next Best: Joshua

Joshua was a convincing maiden winner for new trainer Clint Lundholm at Dubbo on September 10. He led throughout the 1400m on that occasion, powering to the line under Ronald Simpson. He meets Class 1 company for the first time, and with the 1600m posing little threat, Joshua must be considered the one to beat.

Next Best Again: Bare To Witness

Bare To Witness will kick off his three-year-old campaign in Class 1 company and looks perfectly placed by the Damien Lane yard. His two-year-old season peaked at this course over 1100m, taking out the Silver Goblet Preview on May 20. He then finished runner-up at Coonamble on June 18 before heading to the paddock, and his one barrier trial since suggests the son of Star Witness is going well on return. He draws to get a terrific run in transit from barrier three and should be barrelling down the centre of the course to score.
