Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 30, 2023 Journalists Share Posted September 30, 2023 What Ballarat races Where Ballarat Turf Club – 240 Kennedys Rd, Miners Rest VIC 3352 When Monday, October 2, 2023 First Race 1pm AEDT Visit Dabble The Ballarat Turf Club is the scene for horse racing in Victoria on Monday afternoon is set to host a competitive eight-race program. With perfect conditions forecast, we’ll be racing on a Good 4 throughout the day, whilst the rail comes out 8m the entire circuit. We expect the track to play fairly despite the rail placement, with action commencing from 1pm AEDT. Best Bet at Ballarat: Gumdrops Gumdrops was rolled as a long odds-on favourite on debut at Sale and June, but fresh from a 14-week spell, we expect the filly will return a winner. The three-year-old filly only plugged away on a Heavy 9, but a return run on a much firmer deck should see the Written Tycoon filly produce her best. She has shown plenty at the jumpouts leading into this run with two wins at Cranbourne and if she can put it all together on raceday, Gumdrops should prove a touch too good for maiden ranks at the second time of asking. Best Bet Race 2 – #12 Gumdrops (5) 3yo Filly | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) | J: Damian Lane (55kg) +280 with Betfair Next Best at Ballarat: Dashing Duchess Having smashed her rivals in maiden company at Warrnambool on September 4, we expect the Symon Wilde-trained Dashing Duchess will go on with the job on Monday. She gained the gun run in transit, the Tavistock mare put her rivals away in a stride to win eased down by just under six-lengths. From barrier seven, Tahlia Hope will need a touch of luck to not get caught three wide early on. If the pair can slot in in the first six, Dashing Duchess looks to have plenty of upside and can be winning again. Next Best Race 8 – #12 Dashing Duchess (7) 4yo Mare | T: Symon Wilde | J: Tahlia Hope (57kg) +400 with Boombet Best Value at Ballarat: Arqana The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Arqana was hitting the line strongly over 1425m when resuming at Seymour and looks to be mare worth following on Monday. The four-year-old mare settled towards the rear of the field upon return and with natural improvement between runs, she can feature in the finish in a race like this. She’ll need a genuine tempo, but if Daniel Moor can have Arqana in striking distance, her finishing burst should prove too tough to hold out late. Best Value Race 4 – #5 Arqana (7) 4yo Mare | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Daniel Moor (57.5kg) +700 with Dabble Monday quaddie tips for Ballarat races Ballarat quadrella selections Monday, October 2, 2023 1-6-7-10 1-2-5-10 1-3-4-8 3-12 | Copy this bet straight to your betslip More horse racing tips View the full article
