A double disqualification in the GII Gallant Bloom S. on Sunday afternoon resulted in GISP Caramel Swirl (Union Rags–Caramel Snap by Smart Strike) being put up as the winner.

Racing as the 4-5 choice here, the homebred trailed the field early up the backstretch as SP Headland (Paynter) set the fractions. Rounding the far turn, Caramel Swirl began to make up ground but past the eighth pole, it was MGSW Sterling Silver (Cupid) who came with a rush to win by over three lengths.

After an objection by Caramel Swirl's jockey Junior Alvarado against both Headland and Sterling Silver, the lengthy inquiry by the stewards revealed that Caramel Swirl was interfered with and should be placed first, while Sterling Silver was placed second and Headland third.

The final running time was 1:16.18.

Lifetime Record: 16-6-4-3. O/B-Godolphin LLC; T-Bill Mott.
