Rajasinghe Joins National Stud Roster

Rajasinghe (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}-Bunditten {Ire}, by Soviet Star) has been retired and will stand at The National Stud in Newmarket it was announced on Thursday. The G2 Coventry S. hero’s breeding career will be managed, just like fellow National Stud new recruit and G1SW Lancaster Bomber (War Front), by Avenue Bloodstock’s team of John Ferguson, Mark McStay and Amy Lanigan. He will stand for £5,000, Oct. 1, SLF and lifetime breeding rights are also available.

“His win at Royal Ascot last year helped put us on the map. It was a very special day and a fantastic performance to beat the track record,” said trainer Richard Spencer. “To have a 2 year-old that posted a quicker time than the likes of Canford Cliffs (Ire) and Dawn Approach (Ire) in the race is very special and I look forward to seeing his progeny in years to come.”

Bred by James and Geoff Mulcahy in Ireland, the bay was a €65,000 weanling out of the 2015 Goffs November Sale and he matured into an £85,000 Goffs August yearling where he caught the eye of Bobby O’Ryan and Rebel Racing. A winner of his first two starts for trainer Richard Spencer, Rajasinghe also ran third in the G2 July S. in 2017 and retires with a record of two wins in six starts and $128,657 in earnings.

Rajasinghe is a good looking horse with an excellent walk and he will be commercially attractive for breeders, which is proven by the recent the success of the sire line at the yearling sales.”

Rajasinghe is a son of the winning Bunditten, who ran third in the National S. during her racing days. A half-brother to the SP Kurland (Ire) (Kheleyf), his second dam is the MSW Felicita (Ire) (Catrail), who ran third in the G3 Prix Eclipse.
