What Gosford Races

First Race 1:15pm AEDT

Visit Dabble

A competitive eight-race program awaits punters at Gosford on Thursday afternoon. The surface is rated a Soft 5, but with a strong chance of rainfall hitting the course throughout the afternoon, a downgrade into the Heavy range is likely. The rail is in the true position, with the opening race scheduled for 1:15pm AEDT.

Best Bet: Vadamos Queen

Vadamos Queen was able to break her Australian maiden at start four since arriving at the Annabel Neasham barn and gets a lovely setup for back-to-back wins on Thursday. Her win came at Canberra on October 6, making every post a winner to score by two lengths. The daughter of Vadamos maps to gain an economical lead again, and with Alysha Collett electing to stick, Vadamos Queen will be in the finish again.

Next Best: Kirikan

Kirikan is third-up heading to Gosford after two solid performances in metropolitan company and should be competitive when stretching out to the mile for the first time. The son of Tivaci closed off strongly to run second behind Kaizad at Warwick Farm on October 11 after being forced into a mid-race move under James McDonald. Tyler Schiller takes the reins this time, and with barrier one giving him plenty of options, expect Kirikan to be fighting out the finish.

Next Best Again: Pharoah Magic

It was hard not to be impressed with the return of Pharoah Magic at Kembla Grange on October 12, as the four-year-old gelding went on to secure a 3.3-length win. He led all the way after a lengthy 278-day spell, and Pharoah Magic should only improve heading into his second-up effort. He will have the chance to lob on the back of the speed this time, provided Gustosisimo lines up here, and once in clear running under Sam Clipperton, he should prove too good for Class 1 company.
