Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 28, 2023 Journalists Posted October 28, 2023 The lone 3-year-old in the field of seven for Saturday's GII Forty Niner S. going the one-turn mile at Aqueduct, EVERSO MISCHIEVOUS (c, 3, Into Mischief–Ever So Clever, by Medaglia d'Oro) looked in deep water as they came after him from either side in the final furlong, but the bay held them all at bay for a first win at the graded stakes level. The narrow 5-2 second choice bounced away alertly and took up a stalking role from second as longshot Swiftsure (Uncle Mo) tried to take them all the way. Putting the pressure on the pacesetter as they hit the three-eighths peg, Everso Mischievous was joined to his outside by GII Woodward S. runner-up Film Star (Flatter) to make it three across the track and by the time they reached the stretch, Accretive (Practical Joke) ranged up four out to join the battle. The two rivals to his outside appeared to have the momentum and even Swiftsure down to the inside was not laying down, but Cristian Torres managed to conjure up a bit extra out of Everso Mischievous and they lasted for the victory.
