Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 23, 2023 Journalists Share Posted November 23, 2023 What The Gong Race Day Where Kembla Grange Racecourse – Princes Hwy, Kembla Grange NSW 2526 When Saturday, November 25, 2023 First Race 12:20pm AEDT Visit Dabble New South Wales metropolitan racing heads to Illawarra on Saturday afternoon, with The Gong (1600m) and its $1 million purse headlining a massive 10-race program at Kembla Grange. The rail is set in the true position for the entire circuit, and with consistent showers likely to hit the course in the lead-up, expect the current Good 4 surface to be downgraded into the Soft range on Saturday. The first race is scheduled for 12:20pm AEDT. The Gong: Osipenko Osipenko brings the strongest form to this year’s edition of The Gong after contesting in elite Group 1 company. The son of Pierro ran third in the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) on September 16 before being outmatched in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) on October 7. The four-year-old only had one official jump-out since, and as James McDonald takes the reins for the first time, The Gong must be considered the last chance for Osipenko to secure victory this campaign. The Gong Race 7 – #3 Osipenko (10) 4yo Horse | T: Chris Waller | J: James McDonald (58.5kg) +260 with Bet365 The Warra: Dragonstone Dragonstone returns from a 98-day spell as the Joseph Pride-trained galloper tackles The Warra (1000m). The gelding by Mikki Isle held ground behind Buenos Noches in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) at Randwick on August 19 before being tipped out for spell, and he looks set for a first-up peak after two strong jump-outs. Tim Clark will ride the five-year-old, and with a strong tempo likely, Dragonstone should get the last crack at his rivals. The Warra Race 8 – #6 Dragonstone (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Joseph Pride | J: Tim Clark (55.5kg) +450 with Neds Best Bet at Kembla Grange: Headwall Headwall has never missed the frame in six career starts, and we’re confident that trend will continue as he returns after 224 days off the scene. The now four-year-old has been terrific at the barrier trials, going on to score in his latest at Rosehill on November 6. Blake Spriggs will be searching for a soft run in transit from barrier four, and provided he can gain a mid-field position with cover, Headwall will be producing a stunning turn of foot late in the afternoon. Best Bet Race 9 – #5 Headwall (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Matthew Smith | J: Blake Spriggs (58kg) +360 with Betfair Next Best at Kembla Grange: Touristic Touristic is building nicely to a third-up victory as he heads to Kembla Grange for the first time. The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained five-year-old hasn’t been far off the pace in his two runs back from a spell, with the latest a grinding effort over the 1800m at Rosehill on November 11. Getting to the 2000m is ideal for this son of Frankel, and with the Soft track conditions only a positive, Touristic should be close to grabbing his second Australian win. Next Best Race 1 – #1 Touristic (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Peter & Paul Snowden | J: Tom Sherry (61kg) +240 with Unibet Best Value at Kembla Grange: Leandra Leandra produced a solid return at Rosehill on November 4, bounding into third place in a competitive BM78 for the fillies & mares. She meets a similar field on Saturday, with a few key rivals backing up from that race, and we’re surprised by the each-way price available with online bookmakers. There should be a stronger tempo for the daughter of Choisir to sprint off, and with her run just as impressive first-up as the likes of Junqueira and Shohei, Leandra can do a job at a big price. Best Value Race 4 – #11 Leandra (2) 4yo Mare | T: Jason Attard & Lucy Keegan-Attard | J: Jason Collett (54kg) +1500 with Dabble Kembla Grange Saturday quaddie tips – 25/11/2023 Kembla Grange quadrella selections Saturday September 25, 2023 3-4-7-8-9-11-13 2-3-4-5-6-8-12 5 2-3-4-6-11-12-17-18 | Copy this bet straight to your betslip More horse racing tips View the full article
