After settling behind the leading duo of Poland (+550) and Streets Of Avalon (+650), Mark Zahra eased his mount off their backs and took over with 300m to go. The race favourite Norwegian Bliss (+170) mounted a challenge, but by the 100m mark, it was clear that the Ben & JD Hayes-trained galloper was going to break his long standing drought. 2021: Sinawann grabs I Am Superman late At just his second start on Australian soil, Sinawann (+700), from the Anthony & Sam Freedman yard, has claimed his first win in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes at Caulfield. The son of Kingman was given a great ride by Craig Williams, who allowed him to settle just worse than midfield and build momentum on the outside of runners on the home turn. As the leaders started to struggle, I Am Superman (+200) took the lead from Streets Of Avalon (+550), but Sinawann was closing in quickly and he nabbed him in the final 50m. 2020: Kemelpasa leads all the way to victory After claiming the Group 2 Linlithgow Stakes at his previous start, the Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Kemelpasa (+270) took out the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes to make it back-to-back Group victories. The son of Magnus was able to lead from Streets Of Avalon (+650), which allowed Craig Williams to run the race to suit himself and save some energy to provide a strong kick in the home straight. As Order Of Command (+550) and Neighbourhood (+1400) challenged him at the 200m, Williams went for his mount and he held them all at bay to record a dominant one-length victory. 2019: Teleplay just clings on in Kevin Heffernan Stakes Teleplay (+900) has taken out the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes after a smart ride from Ben Melham, who went up the inside rail and saved all the ground inside the leader. After leading the field up, Hey Doc (+500) rolled off the rail in the straight and allowed the daughter of Written Tycoon to flash up the inside. Home Of The Brave (+140) challenged the winner on the outside and appeared to have won the race, but the photo went with Teleplay who got her nose down on the line.
