Best Bet at Sandown: Tommy

In the opening leg of the Sandown quaddie, the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Tommy will be looking to bring up a third win this campaign. The five-year-old gelding was safely held at Flemington last time out, but his win prior at Ballarat suggests a race like this should be within his grasp. He steps up to the 2100m for the first time in his career; however, from barrier one, Tommy will be given every opportunity to see out the trip under Harry Coffey.

Next Best at Sandown: Soar Beyond

The Danny O’Brien-trained Soar Beyond was an impressive maiden winner at Kyneton on November 8. The four-year-old gelding managed to weave his way through the field at Kyneton and produced a stunning turn of foot to suggest he is a horse worth following. The Savabeel progeny stays at the 1200m for this, and from barrier two under Fred Kersley, he will have a great chance to bring up a second-straight win.

Best Value at Sandown: Pretty Tavi

Pretty Tavi was only run down late at Kyneton on November 8 after sustaining a wide run throughout. She steps up the 1200m third-up, a trip she has been successful at twice in her career, and with Jamie Kah back on board, she will be given every chance to salute from a leading position. In a race with not much early pace in it, if Kah can gain a cheap sectional or two, Pretty Tavi will prove hard to gun down.
