Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 2, 2023 Journalists Posted December 2, 2023 Repole Stable's LIFE TALK (f, 2, Gun Runner–Touchy Feely, by Bernardini) touched odds-on late in wagering, eased just a touch to be off at even-money and made every yard a winning one in Saturday's GII Demoiselle S., the first of four graded events at Aqueduct. With Irad Ortiz, Jr. at the controls, the $335,000 Keeneland September purchase broke alertly and showed the way into the first turn as they stacked up six deep at the first corner. Well in hand through an opening quarter in :24.10 over a strip that had been speed-favoring all day, the half went in :48.65 and Life Talk was still doing it well up front. Tempted S. winner Shimmering Allure (Enticed) was first to try to make a race of it with a four-wide attack leaving the quarter pole, but Life Talk responded to urgings and found extra in the final furlong to take it by about four lengths. Dolomite (Unified) took back out of the early fray to sit a ground-saving trip beneath Manny Franco and found running room in the stretch, but could do no better than third. The 26th stakes winner and 19th graded winner for her boom sire, she is also the 83rd SW and 44th GSW to be produced by a daughter of the sorely missed Bernardini. Sales history: $160,000 Wlg '21 KEENOV; $335,000 Ylg '22 KEESEP. O-Repole Stable; B-Gun Runner Syndicate, Mulholland Springs LLC & Tom Grether Farms Inc; T-Todd Pletcher.
