Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 20, 2023 Journalists Share Posted December 20, 2023 What Cranbourne Races Where Cranbourne Turf Club – 50 Grant St, Cranbourne VIC 3977 When Friday, December 22, 2023 First Race 6:15pm AEDT Visit Dabble A competitive eight-race meeting at Cranbourne Racecourse is scheduled for Friday night, serving as the perfect lead-in to the Christmas weekend. Despite the track coming up a Soft 5 at the time of acceptances, it is expected to firm up to a Good 4 before the first race jumps at 6:15pm local time. The rail is out 7m for the entire circuit. Best Bet at Cranbourne: The Mansman The Mansman finished 1.3 lengths off the smart Elouyou first-up in a Geelong maiden on December 7, and this 1400m affair is no harder than that. Drawn in gate six, Thomas Stockdale will look to find the one-one or settle outside the lead. From there, this son of Almanzor will prove too hard to hold out as he looks to break maiden ranks at start three. Best Bet Race 3 – #7 The Mansman (6) 3yo Colt | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Thomas Stockdale (58kg) Bet with Neds Next Best at Cranbourne: Speranzoso Although he has only a single win to his name, Speranzoso has not finished worse than third in his last five starts. The son of Siyouni went toe-to-toe with Tommy Sandown on November 29 before running into Glentaneous last start on December 6. He is rock-hard fit and should appreciate dropping back to BM64 grade. Jordan Childs will look to roll forward on the five-year-old, and with a couple of cheap sections, it is hard to see how Speranzoso gets run down in the quaddie opener. Next Best Race 5 – #5 Speranzoso (3) 5yo Gelding | T: Clayton Douglas | J: Jordan Childs (58.5kg) Bet with Picklebet Next Best Again at Cranbourne: Margie’s Boy This five-year-old gelding gave his rivals a start and a beating at Werribee on December 10, relishing the rain-affected ground. He needs to bring that form onto firmer going on Friday, but based on how he has come back this campaign, we’re not too concerned. Jye McNeil will have the son of Hvasstan settled towards the rear of the field, but with a genuinely run 1200m affair expected, Margie’s Boy should prove too good once again. Next Best Again Race 8 – #1 Margie’s Boy (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Peter Gelagotis | J: Jye McNeil (60kg) Bet with Dabble Friday quaddie tips for Cranbourne races Cranbourne quadrella selections Friday, December 22, 2023 1-5 2-3-4-6 1-2-3-5-6 1-9 More horse racing tips View the full article
