Visit Dabble

Toowoomba Turf Club will host one of its marquee meetings on Monday afternoon, where the $750,000 King Of The Mountain will headline the eight-race card. The track is rated a Good 4 on Friday, but with rain forecast across the weekend, we could start the meeting with the track in the Soft range. The rail will be in the True position for the entire circuit, with the opening race set to jump at 1:13pm AEST.

King Of The Mountain Tip: All That Pizzazz

All That Pizzazz recorded a dominant victory in the Listed Bribie Handicap at Eagle Farm last start, where the Tony Gollan-trained gelding ran home from the back of the field to win by one length over Rubiquitous. This son of Spirit Of Boom was too far back in the Keith Noud over 1200m first-up, but now that he is third-up and has the confidence of his recent win, we expect that he will be fitter and much stronger in the concluding stages. If the leaders go too hard out in front, All That Pizzazz will be thundering home down the outside to stake his claim in the final 200m.

Best Bet at Toowoomba: Sigourney

Since joining the Kevin Kemp stable, Sigourney has won her first two starts at Toowoomba, with both victories coming in similar fashion, running on from the back of the field over 1300m on both occasions. This five-year-old mare will step in trip to 1625m on Monday when third-up for this preparation, which appears to be the ideal step after two dominant wins. From barrier one, Kenji Yoshida should be able to settle on the rail towards the back of the field. As the field hits the home turn, look for Sigourney on the outside of the field and letting down with her strong turn of foot in the final 300m.

Next Bet at Toowoomba: Montenegro Man

Montenegro Man was very good when first-up for new trainer, Pat Webster, at the Sunshine Coast on December 15, where he ran up the inside rail to challenge Rising in the concluding stages of the 1200m contest. Although he finished second that night, he would have taken a lot of benefit from the fresh run and should be ready to go second-up over the same distance on Monday afternoon. Les Tilley will retain the ride for the second straight start and should be able to settle this guy off the rail, just worse than midfield. With even luck from the home turn, Montenegro Man can go one better and record his first win for his new trainer.
