Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 18 Journalists Share Posted January 18 What Flemington Races Where Flemington Racecourse: 448 Epsom Rd., Flemington VIC 3031 When Saturday, January 20, 2024 First Race 12:15pm AEDT Visit Dabble For a second consecutive Saturday, metropolitan racing in Victoria heads to Flemington Racecourse with 10 races set down for decision. Despite rain during the week, Flemington has come up a Soft 5 at the time of acceptances, with the likelihood of beginning on a Good 4. The rail comes out 9m the entire circuit, which may favour those up on speed in races around the circle. Action from Flemington is set to commence at 12:15pm AEDT. Best Bet at Flemington: Bermadez Our best bet comes up in the opening event of the day as Mike Moroney’s Bermadez steps out over 1600m. The seven-year-old gelding has finished second at all three starts this campaign, including when running second to Holymanz in a much tougher race than this at Geelong on January 6. Race one will suit him perfectly, as he does appreciate a bit of sting out of the ground, and in a small field of six, we know he will be close to the leaders throughout. In the small field, look for Jye McNeil to hold a prominent position from barrier three and not let key market rival Suparazi get too far out of his sights. Bermadez on his day, is the best horse in this race, and if he can finally put it all together, he should just be winning. Best Bet Race 1 – #2 Bermadez (3) 7yo Gelding | T: Mike Moroney | J: Jye McNeil (57.5kg) +100 with Picklebet Next Best at Flemington: Bel Air Bel Air from the Anthony & Sam Freedman barn picked up a well-overdue third career win when saluting at the Flemington 1400m on January 1. Having finished second in each of his three starts prior to the win, Bel Air relished the genuine tempo and was hitting the line as good as anyone. He stays at the track and trip on Saturday, and with the likes of Space Tracker, Helix, Milton Park and British Columbia all looking to hold a forward position, the son of Written Tycoon should get the race run to suit. Damian Lane will have him midfield with cover from barrier five, and with a strong finish, Bel Air should prove too hard to hold out once again. Next Best Race 9 – #10 Bel Air (5) 4yo Gelding | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Damian Lane (57.5kg) +300 with Neds Best Value at Flemington: Luna Cat Luna Cat was an impressive Flemington 1100m winner on December 20, and as she steps up in grade, we’re confident she can spring a surprise on Saturday. The four-year-old mare from the Ben, Will & JD Hayes barn managed to settle just off the leader’s when winning and seemingly relished being closer to the speed. Prior to that, she hit the line strongly to be narrowly denied by Pink Beau Ty at Cranbourne over 1000m, suggesting she brings great form into this BM78. With a win and a second to her name at Flemington, she clearly appreciates the track, and if Luna Cat can replicate her last start performance, she can salute at a nice price with top horse racing bookies. Best Value Race 5 – #5 Luna Cat (8) 5yo Mare | T: Ben, Will & JD Hayes | J: Luke Currie (59.5kg) +1500 with Dabble Saturday quaddie tips for Flemington Flemington quadrella selections Saturday, January 20, 2024 1-3-4 Field 10-12 2-5-6-13 Copy this bet straight to your betslip More racing tips View the full article
