Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 23 Journalists Share Posted January 23 Kuroyanagi is now set to target the prestigious Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) after an impressive debut victory at Gawler on Saturday. Trained in collaboration by Will Clarken and Niki O’Shea, the filly justified her -285.71 favouritism with top horse racing bookmakers in the first start, securing a three-length triumph. This convincing performance has convinced the connections that she deserves a shot at the Caulfield juvenile feature scheduled for February 24. “She was good, she did all she could I suppose, they walked early and she did what she had to, she probably wasn’t overly impressive but she had a nice day out, which is the main thing,” said O’Shea in an interview with Racing.com. “She seems to have pulled up ok, she’s been at the farm, so she’s just been at the beach the last few days, we’re just giving her a quiet week and then decide where we go from there. “It will be three weeks ’til the Prelude if she can get there, we’ll leave her alone this week and hopefully she’s bouncing next week and that will be the aim. If she doesn’t come through the week well, I’d say we’ll just pull up stumps and tip her in the paddock. “We know she’s a nice horse, so we’re not hellbent on her running in these two-year-old races.” Following her debut win, Kuroyanagi is now an +1000 chance for the Blue Diamond Stakes with online betting sites.
