Racing returns to Pakenham on Thursday night for another eight-race program with two more heats of the Future Stars Series set to take place. Perfect conditions for racing are forecast in Victoria’s south-east throughout the night, and with the rail coming out 6m the entire circuit, we anticipate a fair track, with every runner to get their chance. Action from Pakenham is set to resume at 5:45pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Pakenham: Acid Wash

We were with Acid Wash when he broke his maiden at Cranbourne on January 5, and he looks set to go on with the job in this Class 1 over 1400m. The three-year-old gelding was rated a treat out in front by Jamie Kah and managed to put six lengths on his closest rival. Two runners have since come out of that race to win their next start to frank the form, and in the small field of eight on Thursday, Acid Wash is going to take some beating. Ben Melham hops on board and from barrier three, will have the son of American Pharoah leading, or at worst, outside lead throughout. From his prominent position, Acid Wash should have a bit too much class for his rivals in this.

Best Bet

Race 6 – Silks#6 Acid Wash (3)

3yo Gelding | T: Clinton McDonald | J: Ben Melham (58kg)

+130 with Neds

Next Best at Pakenham: Queen Beira

Maiden wins do not come as easy as what Queen Beira produced at Werribee on January 6, and the American Pharoah filly can go on with the job on Thursday night. The three-year-old, under the care of Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr), managed to put 2.3 lengths on her rivals and went to the line cruising in second gear. Craig Newitt sticks on board for this assignment in BM58 company, and from barrier three, we expect to see Queen Beira dictate terms once again. With a cheap sectional or two, Queen Beira should prove to hard to gun down in the final event of the day.

Next Best

Race 8 – silks#8 Queen Beira (3)

3yo Filly | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) | J: Craig Newitt (58.5kg)

+260 with Picklebet

Next Best Again at Pakenham: Soar Beyond

Danny O’Brien’s Soar Beyond has shown plenty through his first three starts, and we anticipate the four-year-old gelding will add a second career win to his record on Thursday night. The son of Savabeel was hitting the line strongly behind Carbonados and Spicy Margs at Geelong on January 6, and considering this looks to be an easier assignment, the bay gelding looks well-placed by the stable in this BM64 over 1200m. The extra 100m he gets on Thursday should suit him perfectly, and from barrier one, Damian Lane will have Soar Beyond stalking the speed throughout. With even luck, Soar Beyond should prove too hard to hold out.

Next Best Again

Race 4 – Silks#9 Soar Beyond (1)

4yo Gelding | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Damian Lane (58.5kg)

+230 with Playup
